WWE star Sheamus confirmed to play...Darth Vader?!

I just really hope that Vader isn't in VII... His sacrifice in Jedi was so memorable and meaningful. What is this? Final Fantasy IV?
 
The Empire is not entirely defeated at the end of Jedi. Somewhere they create a robot that and dress him up like Vader and say that he's still alive to keep the galaxy in a state of fear. Sayin' something about propaganda and appearances, innit?

Hell, with some of the shit I've read about what they're doing I wouldn't discount it.

How tall is Sheamus? After all, Vader's incredibly tall, so I can't imagine this fellow will be physically acting him... perhaps he is only providing the voice? (wat)

I'll be honest. If we get Vader flashbacks of him brutalizing Jedi not only with the force but also physically...I would pay to see this.
 
Maybe JJ Abrams is going to make up for the prequel trilogy's bizarre focus on the events before the more interesting period where Vader hunted down fugitive Jedi. I want a Star Wars film to finally do justice to this awesome concept.

Gimme those flashbacks!

Why go out of the way to cast someone so particular if the actor isn't going to be significantly visible? Seems to me like he's going to be more than just a man in a suit voiced by someone else.

james earl jones. If they get someone other than james earl jones I don't know if I want to watch the movie anymore.

Marketability, fits body and build they are looking for perhaps.

If this is legit, I wouldn't mind it in the sense of maybe some flashbacks of how the order was hunted down, or even as some sort of fake/copycat Vader.

It'll be interesting to see. James Earl Jones apparently recorded his Episode 3 Vader lines all the way back when the prequels first started filming. So like in 1997 or 1998. They sat in the can until RotS was released. So it's been up to 17 years since he did anything as Vader. If he's unable/unwilling then I suppose they'll either synthesize his voice or find someone whose voice is similar. They used the guy who voices Chad Vader in the Force Unleashed games.

if they can get back john williams, mark hammil, harrison ford, carrie fisher and the scriptwriter for raiders/empire strikes back but not JEJ......

What if the empire is pretending Vader never died, to save face? Maybe even the Emperor?

I think that could work out rather well actually. Although 30 years later, that sounds a bit ridiculous. And it can't be for a flashback, there never was a flashback sequence in Star Wars.
 
Eh, he's been Vader before apparently he wore the suit during promotional tour for TPM so that probably got his foot in the door to be used.
 
don't like Sheamus and i don't like the idea of Vder coming back in any form, not even if it's for a spin-off. im really getting tired of this inability to move past the OG trilogy. stop trying to work everything from the old films into these new SW films.
 
Makes perfect sense as far as someone for the suit. He has a similar frame and height to David Prowse when he was Vader. Hes done the role for Lucasfilm before promotionally. Sheamus was spending a lot of time over there in the UK during heavy star wars filming

Lucas cheated with Episode 3 and had a new suit with height extensions made so Hayden could wear it and come across as big and imposing.
 
Assuming he's just in the suit and not actually voicing Vader I don't see a problem (well, except for the fact that I'd like to think they have better ideas then going back to the well of Vader).
 
I see no confirmation anywhere.
And to answer why he would be in it, it would be some kind of flash back- dream - Dagobah tree cave type scenario I am assuming.

You can tell during the "NOOOOOOO" moment in the film that was a horrible idea. His arms looked tiny and he looked like he was about to fall over.

I like that Idea, Darth Fader and the Femperor ruling as Puppets while Grand Moff Sydow pulls the strings. thats actually one of the more interesting ideas to keep the empire alive ans the enemy.

Good vader was an elaborate ploy from yoda's ghost to keep luke from going to the dark side. The real darth vader wasn't even there.
