Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

No console post 2007 has given me trouble. I still have my fat white Kinect 360. My kids use it daily.

Same. I made sure to get Jasper (I think) in 2007 when I got my first one, and then got an Elite later. Sold both to friends and they still use them. Also got Slims and kept one to use, still. Works just fine.

I have never had a 360 die on me. Day one 20GB HDD fat 360 worked great, but i gave it away when I upgraded to the Elite 360 with HDMI and 120GB HDD. I then sold the Elite model when the 360 S model was released. Did not jump on the E model as the S model worked fine.

Not worth it. 360 is the worst build quality of any console I've ever owned. Every single one broke including the revision I bought with the Kinect.

eh, i still have a jasper based elite from 2008 that still works perfectly for the most part. the only thing that doesnt is the disk drive's eject feature... but with a little bit of fiddling i can get it to eject, be hard pressed to find other well used optical drives that last that long. every single console ive had with tray drives have stopped ejecting after 6+ years

totally worth picking up a used 360 if you want to play 360 specific games, specially if you get one of the 65nm or 45nm revisions.

Didn't the Rockstar boss say they'll come big at E3? I didn't hear anything from them...

No, it was the boss of the entire company, Take Two Strauss Zelnick. He said of E3 2016 that his company "will be there in a big way."

I'm a bit disappointed to find out what he (apparently) meant: Mafia 3, XCom 2 announced for consoles, and of course 2K sports games.

I wanted Red Dead and Bioshock news...but we didn't get that.

the E sucks. No A/V out, no optical out. Only 2 USBs on the back. And the design is blah.

Can echo statements above, the used Jasper I got back in 2012 and started using in 2013 is on right now and has probably gotten close to a year of overall time spent on with no problems other than the laser needing tweaking.

Phil did say on the GB show last night that they had some big announcements today for BC, so RDR might be that.

He said maybe today and he wasn't sure.

Can you guys link to the point in the interview where he says this?

I mean, I've been hard on game journalists during E3 for not following-up on Microsoft's Backward Compatibility push, so I'm glad to hear that Jeff/Brad asked for a status update.
(why are there so few major AAA releases? what of the titles promised in December? )

y'know i get why BC games are doled out like this, but I'm starting to think it's not even worth it anymore. i only cared because of RDR (pretty much every other x360 game I'd want to play is on PC). i even bought a digital copy of RDR to prep for BC, but I think I'm gonna sell my xbox one now. maybe by the time the S comes out it will look like a much more promising system, but I doubt it.

right now if you have a nice PC and an xbox the only worthwhile games you can get ONLY on your xbox are a handful of BC x360 titles, forza horizon 2, mcc, and halo 5, sunset overdrive. anything else?

there's a lot more, but it depends on what is "worthwhile" to you

Sell it

I only own consoles for exclusives and some multiplayer games so I get it.

I see BC as a great feature that gives a lot more value to owning an Xbox One so the more games that become available that I can grab on the cheap during sales or GwG the more value my Xbox One has.

Sure there are a few games I wish they would add sooner than later but I'm definitely at a point where its added enough value to owning an Xbox One that I don't plan on getting rid of it because a few titles haven't appeared yet.

ms went so crazy when rdr was leaked that I've never been convinced it is coming soon. They switched the whole thing to a whitelist so you cant launch any games early, and on top of that they swapped the download url in the api to hexic

I'm sure it will come eventually though

It's gonna come at Gamescom. If not, then Geoff Knightley's awards.

If not either then it's gonna be a Christmas present from MS and made free for 24 hours.

If not then probably new years to kick off 2017 with a bang.

Honestly though I'm surprised they didn't even mention BC at E3. I expected Ybarra to come on and spew numbers about it then tease some future games coming to the program. But nothing, not even a peep.

Yes, Mike Ybarra was kind of dissapointing.

I thougt: YESS platform news, for sure some cool new surprise OS features .... and then Clubs and stuff :-/

Yep.

Those features are cool.. But we've known about them for a while. It was just a waste of stage time for me.

I bought skate 3 on sale back in the winter. I ended up just getting a Craigslist 360 for $40. I'm used to Nintendo's trickle and don't want to deal with waiting while the 360 digital sales go on

why is everyone so hyped about Skate 3? 6 year old game, and I'd never seen anyone talk about it until this thread.

Well before BC came a thing, we were all asking for Skate 4. Now we know that's unlikely, we'll take the next best thing. It's a wonderful game and we have no skateboarding games this gen at all
as I am still trying to pretend THPS5 never exisdted.

Monday Night Combat was among one of the games that got an update. 600MB (Hasn't been updated since November 2015) Didn't recall any performance issues in the past.

Sucks that the DLC still isn't on the One.

Regarding Portal 2, I hope a sale happens soon! Beautiful game, but 20 is a bit.

Trials evolution - I got trials HD, Fusion and blood dragon. Would be nice to get the best in series.

Orange Box - got CS go, portal:Still alive and portal 2. Would love to play HL2 again.

Just some math

We are currently at 202 BC games.

According to Wikipedia there are 1173 retail games + 715 arcade games = 1888 games (I believe Kinect-only games are already excluded from this list)

So 10,7% of those are available as BC right now.

In the last 3 months we got an average of 17,3 games / month

=> If they continue this pace it will take a little over 8 years for all Xbox 360 games to become BC :-)

is anyone elses coming soon section on the xbox one marketplace missing? been like this for me since the beginning of E3 , kind of irritating

Will never happen due to publishers or licenses though.
