Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Apologies if this has already been answered, but does the new interface provide a mechanism for purchasing backwards compatible games that you do not already own?

For example, I played Assassin's Creed II on PS3 back when it first came out. Backwards compatibility on XB1 honestly seems like the most convenient way for me to play it at the moment, but I never owned it on my 360. Is there a way for me to purchase it digitally for 360 on XB1 to play via backwards compatibility?
That sentence sounded weird...

Thanks in advance.

Any chance Fallout New Vegas will be back wards compatible

I got xbone today just for BC feature , for me is a plus that matters and since it seems its being done well on current titles decided to get the console , also with a great deal ( Mexico) $294 US with the gears of war game.

That feeling to play Fallout 3 on an current generation console is great , I really hope the same happens with New Vegas.

They would be insane to not do it considering how well Fallout 3 runs.

My 360 is still connected to my entertainment system, but BC is still exciting to me because I love being able to play these old games streaming to my Windows 10 PC and using the Elite controller.

Buy it off marketplace.xbox.com and it will work. There is no way to buy games off the console currently.

Other than the one time the whole screen glitched into visual garbage during an in-game transition from 2D into the optional 3D makeover (Halo Anniversary-style), it played flawlessly for me on the first two stages of the first R-Type. Pausing the game and switching 3D back into 2D fixed it, but I tried to reproduce the glitch and it never happened again. Seems totally safe to me.

Thanks! Will get it.

I pre-ordered Fallout 4 digitally. Does anybody know when Fallout 3 becomes available to me? Am I supposed to get a token like they are doing with Gears of War?

Reading those threads about Nier, I hope they add that for Backwards compatibility! One of the few games I wanted to play past gen that now I can't anymore.

So uhm i still have issues with the first Gears of War. I still cant finish the last Boss Fight. It works for some minutes, then the sound goes away and then a Freeze. Only thing i can do is close the app.

Ive reported this issue months back.

So I entered codes for Gears 1 & 2, and those show up under Ready to Install.

But the two games I already owned digitally on the 360 (3 and Judgement) aren't there.

Nevermind. Already had them installed.

Man, does the acheivements section run like shit for anyone else? It seems like it stops responsing to button presses every couple of seconds and I need to go back to the home section to get it working properly again

So, is it pretty much a given that Mass Effect 2 and 3 are coming? Playing through 1 right now, and would like to continue Shepard's journey at some point via BC.

ME 2 and 3 never had Games on Demand releases either, I would say maybe once they sort out multi disc games but even then, it may not happen.

Hmm so is it confirmed that if you want to play the DLC with the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 the disc for the DLC has to be in the system?

If I remember well, those two games could be launched from either one of their disk, the second disk could only be played if the savegame was needing the second disk.
So for example they could simply release the game as "two games" : ME2 disk 1 and ME2 disk 2, but you'll have to switch game everytime the game wants you to change disk. But it might be a problem for ingame disk swap :/

I'll be surprised if ME 2 and 3 aren't available in time for the Andromeda release.

I would expect them to design something in the emulator that hot swaps the disc data for you, so the game would download it all bundled together and then if you own the game on discs, ask for disc 1 to validate and then ignore disc 2 so you can't share.

Either that or they ask bioware to compile the games again so it can run on one mega size dvd the emulator would be reading from.

So apparently I own Just Cause 2 on a gamertag I no longer have access too, but every other digital game I own is on my regular account.

Which sucks, because JC2 was the game I was looking most forward to revisiting, wanted to go for a 100% completion.

One of the things of them making it BC with 360 is that many 360 games still look very good to this day. I never played GOW Judgement and I was pretty impressed with it. While PS4/Xbox One games clearly look better, it is not that great of a jump from PS3/360 games.

To the point a user above, I love that it is all one eco system and basically are running the Xbox One with all of it's features while playing 360 games. Screen shots, video's, parties etc. is all very impressive.

I am really hoping Halo Wars gets the BC treatment soon as it is one game I really enjoy playing. I know it is coming, just hope it is part of the December rollout and of course additional tweaks to existing games.

So I can't use money on my Microsoft account to buy from Xbox.com. This is stupid as hell. I just want to buy Borderlands Games on Demand.

Even the original Gears looks shockingly great. I loaded it up after finishing the Ultimate Edition remaster and while it's obviously the epitome of muddy UE3 graphics, it's technically incredible what they pulled off so early into the console's lifecycle.

So I purchased this with the sale, and it's showing the first 2 DLCs as $9.99. Is that not actually the case for Borderlands?

During preview the main game download included all DLCs for free on X1 BC, don't know if it's still the case.
You should try downloading it on Xbox One and report back :P

I did. I click on Downloadable Content in the main menu, and it says New Revolution and Secret Armory already purchased. The Underdome and Zombie Island are $9.99 a piece. I'll post on the xbox forums to see if it's a bug or something.

EDIT: So it's apparently already installed? I thought it would be larger than 3.2 GB
EDIT: Other people on xbox forums are saying that if they bought some of the DLC, it's not showing up as installed. I'll have to wait until later tonight so I can play until I get fast travel to see if it actually is installed.

Has anyone tried the Pure Time Trials DLC for Mirror's Edge with BC?

Edit: I went ahead and bought it, and it works fine.

Also, I was able to buy it through the game (running on my XB1) and that let me use my Xbox credit.
