Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

I'd say select OG Xbox BC is pretty much guaranteed. I don't think it will be as extensive as they're planning 360 BC to be though, or even as extensive as OG Xbox emulation was on Xbox 360. Probably just a selection of first party and high profile releases.

Ybarra did say they had some more Major OS stuff like BC so I wouldn't rule out OG Xbox titles at some point

When did he say this?

Could he just have meant adding Cortana with headset compatibility and moving the "My games and Apps" box to the top. Changing the orientation of the games list to vertical, and adding a "Ready to Install" tab to the side instead of having to scroll to the end that was showed off in that Nelson video?

I really want OXbox BC, though. Max Payne and KotoR would be splendid.

and Panzer Dragoon...

I dont think OG Xbox BC is happening. No point for it really

I expect OG Xbox game compatibility.

I don't.

They're sharing the stage with Windows 10 for the first time ever this year - the event is called "Xbox + Windows 10". I expect Backwards Compatibility and Forwards Compatibilty across to Windows 10. Interesting times.

I set my reminder for Spike TV for the Xbox press conference. The content description is "Xbox: For the Love of the Games". Hoping they have another BC announcement of a 100+ titles available that day or within a short time period.

OG Xbox would be great, but frankly, I'd rather them focus efforts on delivering more 360 titles. If they are going down the OG Xbox emulation route, I hope they focus on the titles they made available to download on the 360, as I have a few of those. I'd love to have access to that Crash Bandicoot game again.

At the very least I want the games that were BC on 360. I want to play Crimson Skies and Mech Assault again dammit

All OXB games were upscaled to HD on 360. Some OXB games were HD on the original Xbox. There are also hundreds of widescreen compatible Xbox games.

upscaled isn't true HD and it still looks pretty shitty on a 60" screen. It's usually better if the screen upscales as long as you have a good tv.

New BC titles coming today:
- Lazy Raiders
- Aqua
- Anomaly Warzone Earth

Get... hype?

I own both Lazy Raiders (which had a solid Avatar Set Unlock) and Anomaly (which was actually a fun single player way to burn some time.) Neither are bad games, and I do find it kind of hype that smaller releases that didn't get much feature time are getting released on BC, yes. :)

A lot of these big releases people keep begging for are just as likely to get HD remasters as they are BC. They're not games that time will forget, or things that aren't still potentially getting sequels.

But one-off games from small companies that will probably never see another console release again? Sure, bring me more of those on BC. Even the ones that are on Cellphone or PS3 (like Anomaly) are still stuck on systems I don't have hooked up, or Sony would ask for yet more money to let me play them again. This is much more accessible.

I don't understand why fight night round 4 and not fight night champion is potentially going live on the 14th. Champion is the better game. I've been wanting to play champion again but the game isn't playable once you get the 10,000 jab achievement since the game freezes every time you throw a jab afterwards.

It would probably just be easier for them to port select original Xbox titles instead of relying on emulation.

Just hit the Xbox exclusives:

MechAssault
Crimson Skies
Blood Wake
Fusion Frenzy
Ninja Gaiden
etc

Ninja Gaiden Black with achievements would be the best E3 announcement ever. Well, that and Lost Odyssey 2.

I'm still disappointed that Disney/Activision did not allow Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 being released. They are both still available digitally, so it is not a delist or licensing issue. Activision still has the license, at least for those games.

Who says they havent? At least not yet.

There has to be some special titles dropping (or announced) during E3, right?

My guess: MS themselves will drop a half dozen or more. Couple with free downloads.

EA will announce some as part of EA Access since the service will be free for all members next week. Gotta show the value of the service
