Impossible, the chipset blueprints don't exist.

And that's about as far as they get without having datasheets or similiar.

Someone would either have to leak them, or reverse engineer the console (decapping) and do it from there. That would not be cheap.

The nvidia GPU is the real tricky bit.

Again, the entire source tree for the Xbox leaked ages ago, so it's there if someone really wanted to throw caution to the wind. It just opens up other legal issues.

Only "legal" way to get it is to have a modded console, rip disc copies to the console and FTP them over to your PC.

Sounds like an absolute pain I didn't even know it was possible to mod a 360 I'm kind of scared at how difficult it will be.

I've modded my PS2 to dump the bios and that required physically opening it up removing a disc and placing a burnt disc running a ripped copy of the game and a modified .elf file to load the tools to mod the firmware.

I modded my wiiU to rip wii games and all that took was loading up a modified stage file into Brawl.

Doesn't really matter though since I don't have a 360 to mod so I'll just stick with Dolphin and PCSX2.

Yeah, not worth doing yourself if you have no idea. 360s are pretty secure, they need hardware in the form of soldered chips in order to be modded.

I dont want to alarm anybody but Scott Pilgrim vs The World is working amazingly. 17-20fps and no music. But oh my god. Im playing a 360 game on my PC.

Ducktales Remastered is also playable but with graphics issues.

Crazy progress, really impressive. Maybe I'll get to play RDR and Dragon's Dogma after all in a year or two :D

I remember few years ago some indie Xbox 360 games could be played straight to Windows without emulation and developer was not pleased at all.

I've forgotten the title. It was a gory 2D slasher/platform game with a Ninja or something

A Russian guy illegally ported The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile.

IIRC, didn't someone port Halo 3 to PC? It's technically possible to port this stuff to PC, but no one outside of a handful of people know how to do it when they're just working with the final release copy instead of having all the assets in a non-compiled state.

Not as far as I'm aware. The closest thing is Halo Online, a game built from an officially ported, modified version of the Halo 3 engine. People have modded that to play it offline/over fake LAN, but there's no REAL Halo 3 on PC.

Oh my, this means you'll finally be able to play the best version of DMC3 on PC. The PC port is trash, so much that people recommend emulating the PS2 version over it.

Someone please update this thread when LA Noire, UFC Undisputed 3 and Red Dead Redemption are playable :)

Any reason to prefer the 360 version of LA Noire over the PC version?

How does RDR fare in the current version of the emu for you guys?
I tried it for the first time today (only game I own and have ripped so far) but it just freezes the emu after the legal disclaimer and doesn't even roll the R* intro - despite the video posted a week or so ago which showed exactly that.

very feasible if the pay is lucrative

not a bad idea

Yea but its not hard to find a 6 figure SW dev/eng job. Those capable of emulating this would require more than just hitting that 6 figure mark and a few years and more you need a team. Easily a 2 mil+ project. Microsoft has the budget to throw the top devs at it and they did it but it took awhile so its possible....

This is something that is going to be great when the emulator will reach Dolphin's capabilities.

I am eager to see how this will perform. Even dolphin requires a lot of cpu power while it is "only" emulating the Wii (and GC, of course).
x360 is way more powerful than a Wii so I guess it will take some years to get reasonable speeds out of it.
That said MS is able (most probably with bought technique) to deliver quite good emulation speed of a 360 on the Xbone - a system which I wouldn't expect to be able to produce reasonable speed emulating a Wii (ie. when running dolphin on an Xbone).
