Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition |OT| Shoot them with your guns (Again!)

Thick Thighs Save Lives

NeoGAF's Physical Games Advocate Extraordinaire
If they do that would be great and if they don’t it’s not end of the world, all the Xenoblade games run at 30FPS but it didn’t really get in my of enjoyment.
Well, if Nintendo/Monolith Soft don't plan on patching the XC games, once I snag the Switch 2, I'm going to hack and overclock my Switch OLED and replay some of them at 60 fps. 👀

Not that I mind the 30 fps since I'm playing on my older Bravia TV instead of my new OLED TV, so the inherent motion blur of the LCD panel hides a lot of the downsides of playing at a low fps. However, I do wonder if Monolith Soft will patch XCX Definitive Edition to work at higher fps when played on Switch 2 hardware. 🤔

There is already a hidden 60fps mode found in the files. They most definitely will have a patch ready for Switch 2 launch.

I was reading this thread and getting excited to play the game, even if big mecha don't do very much to me I'm always looking out for a solid story.
What kind of censoring are we talking about?

Is it avoidable buying the japanese one? Does it have english subtitles?

No boob slider. Certain outfits for a young character are removed.

It's one SKU for all regions, like all other Nintendo games. And this remaster is based on the US version. So it's the same with Japanese version

Can't believe how much fun I'm having when I haven't even unlocked overdrive or a skell yet. Just running around jumping off things trying to see if I can sneak past monsters and plant mining probes. Environment design is peak. Whenever you set out to do something there's always something else intriguing to distract you and change the course of your adventure.

I'm gonna be playing this for months. My biggest problem right now will be assholes who put major spoilers for the new content in their youtube thumbnails, those will appear in my youtube feed for sure. That's how I learned about Rex's extremely efficient family planning for the future

Got it yesterday from Currys £38.

30fps is a bit shite. I'm hoping for a Switch 2 patch. Controls feel a bit weird but maybe that's me.

Curator. You get bonus DP for just picking up blue collectibles/items. Interceptor if you like fighting or farming enemies. And later Prospector when you have multiple data probes that tick at intervals for resources which will give you DP. So late game Prospector since you can get DP just by being AFK/Idle.

If you want to raise Blade level at a great pace while you play I'd say Curator. Ultimately it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the tip, I ended up going Pathfinders though. So far I'm really enjoying just finding locations to plant probes in

IIRC yes. There's also heart-to-heart. I think some side missions are also quite meaty.

Yeah I already did two Heart-To-Hearts. I'm going to try to do all the side missions too

That's what has been happening to me too. Whenever I see an enemie with an wing icon on it, I know it will drop items for an item I want to create. Other than doing side quests and the main quest, I have been finding those enemies since I'm looking to make the bunny suit.

I love how you can invest in a couple of Weapon companies by using a type of credit (It's not the in game currency). Especially like how they reward you with having new items for me to buy from their stores

I finally figured out the jump button is RB Trigger and that helps in getting to your destination much faster

Yeah I'm going have to avoid YouTube Home Page in regards to Xenoblade Chronicles X Spoilers too

I'm 9 Hours and 30 Minutes

Text is much bigger and readable.

When it comes to the menu, I'm not a fan of how you can still see your characters in the game whenever you press the start menu. Not only that it doesn't pause the game you have to exit the menu fully. That can get confusing

It's just a me issue. But you have to pay attention to the menus there's lot of things to do that require the menu and if you don't pay attention you will be lost. Like it took me five minutes to figure out that when I go to the map menu, you have to press the RB Trigger button to get to Nav Menu and pick the probe and change the type of probe it is.

Once I got used to all the menus it becomes mostly second nature

Man this reminds me of Xenosaga so much graphically. Lin was butt ugly in the original Wii U Version while in this version she's has a cute face

And what I mean by this game reminding me of Xenosaga graphically is that I can tell is by the same character artist (Who did the character designs for the Xenosaga Trilogy) due to the faces. He has a very distinctive style when it comes to the way he draws faces. And they translate better here due to going the cell shading route

Cars in the industrial district and residential district still goes through my characters. But enemies I'm pretty sure you can't pass through

Graphically the game runs smooth. I only noticed a couple of dips when I reached NLA. There's an in-game cutscene of NLA when you reached it and that's where the dips happen. But after that I hardly noticed any dips at all. I can't tell the difference but so far it's equally as beautiful as the Wii U Version. The only loading is when you start the game and usually that's fast. I didn't even experience any loading at all in the game. It was amazing.

So far the gameplay is really good and my characters are at Level 11. I'm trying to do all the side content to level up my characters faster. I'm hoping to get to Level 20 to Level 21 later today. The game is challenging but fair, I also died a lot. BTW I love using the gun more than the blade

QOL additions have really made the game much better. I use the quick travel alot and being able to change the time from the menu is a godsend

I like to dress up all my characters, so I've been having a lot of fun with the costume menu. Also am happy that I can earn costumes by putting in the work. I prefer that to just buying costume DLC

Pathfinders is decent and great for immersion since you acquire DP points by discovering new landmarks so it feels like you rank up as you explore the world. It's a great feeling.

Character design is definitely heavy Xenosaga influence. The influence is so strong that you can select the JP VA for KOS-MOS for Female Avatar.

Ah, man, that's a shame, so I assume the sliders are only on the WiiU version... oh, well, I'll live anyway.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Do I need to grind levels in the early game or just focus on questing?
Just focus on questing, the levels will come. There's also a bit of an exploit you can do with Irena at about level 15:

  1. Enter the soul voice menu (Menu -> Party -> Soul Voices), and select "Draw Ranged" on your character, then pick the purple option that says "+1 tier to Debuff Arts / Bypass debuff resistances".
  2. Switch Irina to your actively controlled member (Menu -> Active Members, select Irina and press "X").
  3. Make sure that Irina has both Brainjack and Servant Sacrifice in her ability bar (Menu -> Party -> Arts)
  4. Go out with Irina and do a few battles, until she has at least 1000 TP saved up.
  5. Make sure that your knife is the selected weapon (you don't want to start the battle with your ranged weapon).
  6. Find an enemy you can handle that's next to a high level enemy - the opening area (on the way to NLA) is a good place to try this out, as the Millesaurs there are usually level 50 or so and are next to level 6-10 smaller enemies. Start fighting the lower level enemy.
  7. After about 5 seconds, switch to your gun weapon, and the main character will soul voice purple - this is when you target the higher level enemy and use the Brainjack art. This should succeed on the higher level enemy now, since the "Bypass debuff resistances" you set in step 1 is now active.
  8. Finally, activate the Servant Sacrifice art, which has a 1 in 3 chance of instantly killing the higher level enemy.
This is what it looks like, if it's successful:

There is obviously quite a bit of setup involved here, and you only have a 33% chance of it working, but you should level up several times over doing this just once, and then you can save and repeat. If you don't kill the monster with Servant Sacrifice, you'll probably die, but then you can just try again.

Thanks dude. Can't wait to jump in tonight.

Its a really solid remaster so far, about 4 hours in. The weather seems to be autistic af compared to the original though, its raining every 2 mins. I cant remember it being so bad on the Wii U

Got my copy yesterday, never had the pleasure of playing this before as i skipped the WiiU. The question is do i start it now or keep it shelved till Switch 2?

Finished the prologue and chapter 1. The game feels quite amazing to play, the mobility is just nuts with the vertical leaps. Impressive for a game that was designed a decade ago. I can’t wait to fly a mech.

You probably looked into this already but to get the various bunny suits and other useful things, make sure you get every field navigation site you can and upgrade with the best probes. And make sure you mess around with online stuff early and often. It's not really "online," nobody's getting headshot or teabagged, it's quick challenges with a lot of loot or things like you and your squad (separately in your own games) try to hunt a certain amount of a certain type of monster in an hour and get reward tickets you can exchange for materials. Tickets are super helpful for upgrades and customization

Wow, I didn't really keep up with this as i was a big fan of the Wiiu game so it was an instant buy but the game looks great! and plays really well and the new changes are surprising!
looks like I have something to play until the switch 2 release!.

I found it's worth the reading though it's all good informations.

I'm having a blast tbh
Oh it’s good information, there’s just a lot of it in a short period of time. They should spread it out a bit.

Still haven’t reached the part where I can play the game. I’m itching to get there.

This game needs it, it has complex system and it needs to ease player in to it.

XC2 in my opinion was great game with great combat system but lot of people couldn't get in to it because of its horrible tutorial.....Even myself I had to learn how the combat works in Youtube instead within game itself.

Getting this for sure! Love this series.

My knee-jerk reaction to new releases is to keep calm and wait a couple of months to get it on sale. But then I remembered who's the publisher. Might aswell just pay up right away. 😁
