Yakuza 5 |OT| Rage Your Dreams

I'm up to the beginning of the final chapter (chapter 4) in the Finale now.

The finale so far though.... just wow. Major Spoilers:
I can't hold all these twists. Was absolutely not expecting that Osaka detective to be the Omi Alliance chairman. Like WTF. Also where the hell is Majima, man? He hasn't made a single appearance in the game yet outside of Saejima's part and that was a flashbask.

Is the only driving in the game taxis? I think I just realized that a Yakuza game could conceivably be the absolute best video game ever if it went all out on the Japanese VIP car scene. But are the only cars the Crown Comfort and similar models? If so that's too bad, since there's actually a pretty good variety of models out there in Tokyo used by independent taxi drivers. I remember chatting with a taxi driver at 5 in the morning while heading from the bar to the first train about how his lowered Celsior helped him stand out and attract customers.

Taxi is the only driving part in Yakuza 5. and yeah it's a shame we can't make our own VIP car scene. I would love to make like a Toyota Celsior, Toyota Crown, Nissan Cedric, Nissan Cima, ect.

Yes and
honestly I kind of loved it. I was thinking that this could possibly be the *end* for Kiryu and a pretty emotional send off. Glad to know I was proven wrong though! :D

I remember some complaints about the end of 3
where Kiryu's fate is left ambiguous, fades to black then he's alive and well back in Okinawa with a bandage around his stomach

I want a game that lets me pick between a Crown, a Crown Majesta, and a Crown Athlete. Plus of course a Celsior, Mark X, or a new LS. Any of those would fit right in somewhere in Kabukicho idling outside an "office" building so they seem perfect for the Yakuza series!

Beat the game and the final chapter was an awesome ride even if a bit too familiar maybe. I have to say that this really is a game that should be played after all the other main Yakuza games. There are so many things which will give you sweet memories if you have played the other games in the series.

Definitely a contender for GOTY for me personally even if I don't know if I would call it the best in the series.

74 hours, 1-2 substories missing per character but all the special questlines (taxi etc.) done. I'm not going for the platinum in this one but I do plan to go for all the substories and some trophy clean-up at least. Might reach 100 hours or so. Man, I love this series.

I know I would want that too. I wouldn't know how Nagoshi would implement the VIP cars into Yakuza though.

hey guys,
i saw a thread posted last night re: ever see a game but don't know the name of it? this is a ridiculous question but thought to ask, i don't expect a response because it may not even be worth anyone's time.

anyways :p i've been playing Yakuza 5 was hoping someone plays with jpop knowledge. whenever, i go to the convince store (M store) in chapter 1, there's a bunch of songs playing on the radio. but for the life of me i can't find out a track listing anywhere.

anyone jpop knowledge know the songs coming over the radio? i ridiculously posted the same request in the [OT] jpop thread. heheh

ignore this if no one knows... back to gaming! =)

bad gameplay lol
Man, Saejima is without a doubt the best character in the game, gameplay-wise. And by that I mean once you get his "super armor" skill from the mountain training guy, you're basically unstoppable. It's completely broken. Every single fight with Saejima can be won easily by just mashing Square from that point on. And I mean every. Even the final Komaki training and
Amon
.

Also the reward for completing all the substories is broken as hell too (just like it was in Yakuza 4).
The Golden Pistol, an infinite ammo, 80 power gun.
It's gonna be real hard to resist the temptation to cheese the rest of the story with that. :lol

Actually, I think Akiyama is the only character who isn't completely broken in some way for me at this point.
Kiryu's got the Golden Pistol, Saejima's got his super armor, and Shinada's got both a sword and knife that have infinite uses, and Amon's Sunglasses, which makes weapons much more powerful.
Yeesh. Endgame's gonna be ridiculously easy, isn't it?

i just rofl at some of shinada's sidequests.
customer buys panties "should i warm them up"

i'm warming a little up to his baseball stuff. these sidestories are addictive.

Wow, Saejima's chapter 2 ending is AWESOME:
his threathening speech, the fight itself, his stomping on that asshole's arm to break it... so exciting!

Shinada's level break battle was pretty hard until I just made two warning signs and beat each Komaki in two hits.

I really wish I knew this 3 years ago, I did it the insanely hard way with lots of healing items! Thanks for the tip, I was dreading doing this battle again!

Guys I ended up getting a copy of Yakuza 5 so now I'm blasting my way through 4 since I haven't finished that yet. Should I play Dead Souls before 5?

I already have a copy of it that I bought a year ago

Ugh, that
comedian
side quest with Haruka is impossible. How much should I do to get past it? Currently I can barely hit mid
70s
. I know that timing is important but some of those sentences are impossible to get the right timing.
Yep. Just cashed in another 25 as well. :lol
Nice. What items are you using?

Glad I'm not the only one that had trouble with that. You need to get at least 80 points to pass. You should write down the responses that give you a NICE rating beforehand, then you can just wait til the guy stops talking and immediately answer.

Not unless you really feel like clearing up your backlog.

Thank god that it's not a complete 100/100 score. Yeah, I might eventually need to do that. Thanks.

Zero Jewels. You should get at least three over the course of the game. Just save, go to the casino, put 1000 chips on either 0 or 00 in roulette, use a jewel, and if it hits you've turned 100,000 yen into 3.6 million yen. If it doesn't hit, reload and try again. You can get over 10 million easily this way, and unlock Survival Roulette, which is super easy to win and should net over a million yen every time you play.

Amon defeated. That wasn't so bad, even in hard mode. The first 3 fights were cake and only Amon himself proved to be any trouble. That said, he's still by far the hardest boss in the game. Also pretty funny how Amon is
so obsessed with Kiryu that he copies his fighting style now.

27h and finally completed Kiryu's chapter.
That ending fight for his chapter has to be one of the best boss fights of the year. I recently remember reading someone mentioning that the Yakuza series didn't have anything comparable to the 70 man battle in Shenmue. Well, now it does. But getting back to Y5 specifically, the end radio report and Kiryu finally putting on his suit got me so hyped up for whatever is coming up.

Shinada's job interview went south pretty fast. On the plus side, got all the Morolians & Ulala from the UFO Catcher.

Comedian side quest has 3 rounds?!!!! Ugh...

Thanks, I haven't gotten any yet but I'll sure try that out when I get them. I used a pretty similar strategy for Y4 and even after finishing all hostess clubs I still had a few millions left :)

Don't think Y4 had Survival Roulette tho.
