Yakuza: Dead Souls |OT| MAJIMA GORO TIME YOU GUYS

gonna check out your review, Pepsiman - ive liked a few of your others.

gonna tie up Hard mode soon, trophy guides say i should do dead souls next, then Ex Hard, then mop-up in premium, but i hate throwing all my work so far out the window! is EX much better with the rocket launcher Souls gets you, or why is this order recommended?

That's an odd order to go about it.
I personally would recommend leaving DS trophy for last and just go about getting the trophies the usual way.

Hey guys,

I got the EU/AU steelbook two weeks ago and when I opened it to redeem the DLC, I found out they accidentally packed in two DLC codes, so I've got a spare one to give away.

PM me if you'd like it!

...Or is there supposed to be two and I'm supposed to use both??

i'd try to unlock the Amon weapon first

i think controlling a single character is the best choice, and the fucking komaki parry knocking people halfway across the level never gets old.
Going to have to politely disagree there. The variety of characters in 4 pushes it way beyond 3 for me, and that's despite loving Okinawa.

The issue for me is that Akiyama and Tanimura have much more personality than Kazuma. It was a breath of fresh air loading up Y4 for the first time and having Akiyama's attitude thrown at you all of a sudden. The mixed fighting styles helped a lot too in keeping the game feeling fresh.

Like most people Akiyama was my favourite initially, but I've switched over to Tanimura now. His being a cop is one thing, but what was more important was how he was part of the Asian community separate from the rest of the city, and his speaking Chinese was really cool.

I really hope Sega don't forget Tanimura. With Akiyama it's quite clear he's safe (having already appeared in Dead Souls), but Tanimura's fate is more of a worry for me.

right? yeah, im thinking of doing EX hard next, on new game + but after getting everything else in free mode or whatever it's called.

i'd try to unlock the Amon weapon first

they're that good, huh? i could stand to make EX easier, seeing as souls mode is gonna be rough either way. guess it's time to tie up these sidequests!

holy fuck!

i just found everything! i could walk around there for hours pointing out all the locations and story sections. you can even see the "obvious guy trying to pick a fight" standing around sometimes lol

so many arcades and places to eat!

I WANT TO GO SO BAD.

i'd be considered a giant, and therefore respected.

lol where'd you see that guy?

Finished all of Akiyama's Substories yesterday. Gonna start Majima's in coming days.

goddammit.
my big trip next year was to be southeast asia (3-4 weeks in china, korea, malaysia etc) and i even had the shenmue 2 locations picked out for some stuff...now i gotta bump japan up a notch, and that shit's way more expensive.

Bleah. Just realized that my Dead Souls review basically gave the game zero stars instead of 4 out of 5.

Probably the reason why the Sega rep ignored me when I messaged him a link to the review.

Hmm how would you rate that in 'out of 10'?
I personally give it an 8 out of 10, it's has it is' flaws and issues but is a fun game regardless.

7.5 I suppose. Not really a fan of rating systems in general.

Oh and in my Prem. Adv. it seems I completed more than 70 Directives+ for Hasegawa XD, I also managed to finish a few more yesterday as well.

BTW, is there any reason to complete the Spec Ops and all of her Directives?

Finished it and gotta say I really enjoyed the story but definitely my least favourite Yakuza game so far.

Yeah, I'd agree with this. It has some nice moments, but even in the context of a wacky spin-off I thought they could have done more.

I've pretty much polished off all the side-quests at this point. I've spent about 20 or so hours with this game and I think I'm about done. The combat is fun as a shallow arcade shooter, but all that is just stretched when most optional stuff trudges you through the exact same locations, along with the spawn points all remaining identical too.

Fun game, but I can't see myself getting much more out of it.

Is there a way to change the aiming so that it doesn't use the left stick? I'm insanely frustrated by trying to see my surrounding only to have things snapped back where it was because I use the right stick instead the left stick.

Nope, you've pretty much passed the point of no return, they weren't lying!

I'm not even done yet and I've come to the same conclusion. I've started skipping the side quests now because they're so boring and unrewarding.

Nope, you're stuck with the left stick.

Beat the game and you can go back and finish off the stuff you missed out on.

I'm having a lot of fun with the game but I wish they could have put in a few more opportunities to save the game now and then.

Yesterday I had played for 2-2,5 hours as Majima and done several sidequests, a lot of stuff in the quarantine zone, played well in several minigames + eaten/drank stuff and modded weapons.

I had to be somewhere in real life and was running late so I was just going to the nearest saving point when suddenly something plot-related kicked in (I was just running in the street) and I had to play for 20+ minutes more before I could save.

2 more subquests for Goda, then like 10 for Akiyama. i think that just leaves subterranean diving (how were you guys suited up/equipped for that 50 floor run?), the shogi one and the pachinko one im not looking forward to without cheat items. then Amon, and finally, Ex Hard, followed by Dead Souls mode! haha, fuck.

i'm at level 74 right now. ya'll think the next playthrough will put me near max level? id like to skip the subquests until dead souls mode makes me do them to survive, if i can.

ps quinntendopower's banned? noooooo this thread made me a fan of dude, hope you're back around soon.

right, but...is it better if you're a downgraded junior? he had 1k+ posts. does that give a chance at redemption? i cant even find the post that did him in from his history.
gonna add him on XBL later, i got nothin but love for a dude with 3 yakuza plats, haha.

just checked...i mean, isn't "fuck this game" a valid opinion? the latter ones were potshot-y, but it seems weird to ban someone over saying negative things in a hype thread, much less potentially perma'd. i thought that was standard fare, i don't see him taking the frontlines for glorious nippon there, but i could be missing something.

*edit - saw stump's post. he's pretty fair so hopefully not perma.

My plan for tomorrow-
1- Finsih off Majima's sewer mission
2- Finish off Goda's sewer mission
3- Finish off Kiryu's Substories

After that I'll aim for:
4- Finish Kiryu's sewer mission
5- Waste my money on hooke-I mean hostesses
6- Win in Mahjong and Shogi
7- Finish off any other trophy besides Extra Hard and Dead Souls
8- Feel good mang~

IrishNinja

how's it going Tizoc? here's what i got left in premium mode:

-2 character sewer missions
-6 hostesses needing woo'ing
-pachinko trophy
-endless sub mission (i read its about an hour and a half)
-Amon...

i think that's it, the 10 million yen one will come. after that, i should be good & ready for Ex Hard, hoping for max level around then or it's more grinding in the post-game. i should work on some better defense crafting for that game too.

then, finally, dead souls mode & plat.

Tizoc

Well right now I'm left with
1- Woo some bitches
2- Win Shogi and Mahjong (got any tips for this?)
3- Complete Kiryu's sewer mission & kick Amon's ass (again)
4- Inf. Subturrainia
5- Ex. Hard mode
6- Complete Dead Souls mode LIKE A BOSS

For anyone having trouble with one of Kiryu's substories:
Akaishi is found North of the tank away from M. Tower look on the right side for a body...and make sure you have grenades and bullets, cuz you're gonna need them @_@

EDIT: WE IN COMMNUNITY!!!

I think this will be the first Yakuza I will never finish. I'm just at the beginning
the boss battle with that licker like creature
and I struggle really hard with the controls and the camera is all over the place. Do I miss something important, something that makes aiming and controlling the camera/character actually work?

That boss was easy for me.
Keep your distance, enter FPS mode by holding L2 and fire at it with a Submachine gun.
Really whenever in quarantine zones, stock up on ammo, the crates regenerate the items in them everytime you enter the zones.

2- Win Shogi and Mahjong (got any tips for this?)

PS3 trophies guide has some ways to make both super-easy, i was grateful. follow the gamefaqs post it links for shogi, you can't lose!

your turn: i still have to do Pachinko, any hints/ways to cheat it? i don't see the items for it like i did in 4.

FUCK
RASTESU AMON
SERIOUSLY, FUCK HIM
Now I gotta start all over again =V

aw man that sucks...30 floors too =/
i brought the top-tier anti-material rifle and made short work of him in that fight. when you go back in on him later, fortunately you just warp to him so the stakes are lower, he's hard but doable. follow that guide i linked if nothing else!

I actually said "oh you a-hole" when I saw
Goda's Takoyaki boss, Pops, was a zombie
and was a little sad at the end of the boss fight.

yeah, that one made me sad too.

finishd Amon & Endless Suberrena last night, made it to floor 53 and i had a few health items/coulda kept going but it'd been nearly 2 hours and i was just tired, the mazes get kinda brutal later in the 40's. Akiyama's elsie guns were perfect, my only mistake was not bringing a shotgun - mobs are constant, and aggros and others can make it a nightmare pretty quick. make sure you're prepared before heading out!

so yeah, pachinko and about 5 hostesses, then ex hard (which im hoping should be easier with this weird weapon i got from Amon), then max out (shoudln't be too bad, im at 80 now but again that guide had a great grinding spot with Kiryu's spec-ops mission, then finally the dreaded dead souls playthrough. it's funny cause ive been wearing yakuza training gear my whole hard + premium mop-up, finally made me some dragon whatever armor (i so have to try the weak optic one!), holy shit good armor makes a huge difference. this is gonna be a big focus on my dead souls play.

*edit aww we got community ghetto'd

I've got to say that after I got through the guy you start out as and moved into the Majima scenario, I really started enjoying this game. That first guy is just kind of a dud as a character and none of the stories in his scenario pulled me in. All of the other characters are the most badass motherfuckers alive and first dude is just kind of lame.

Majima felt too short though. Love that guy. :)

I hurried through Akiyama's scenario too, and it wasn't the best, but i guess i was forgiving cause i adored his debut in 4.

..and while I'm at get that trophy for Shogi and Mahjong.

yeah, 4 more bitches need wooing over here. Majima's scene at the hot tub was worth it too.

for real though, what's the easy way to get the Pachinko one?

I don't even know the fuck how to play pachinko. I just watch my little balls trickle down til I run out then I say, "What?" to myself and go back to killing zombies.

I thought the xplanation in the PS3Trophies' guide made much easier to figure out.
Basically you try and make the balls fall into the middle 'jackpot' area. When it does, reels start turning and if you get a number combination you starts getting more points. Pressing Square for 'action' scenes increases the bonus points you get.

guess ill try that...

i need like 2-3 more super hard aluminum alloys to get the dragon armor, any idea where they are?

Funnily enough I managed to have enough to make it when I got the design. Dunno how I accumilated that many, but check in Casinos, gambling areas, etc. I think it's a rare drop from enmies too?
EDIT: Oh and halfway through the hostess BS, just gotta finish Ryuji and Kiryu's =_=

nah, i don't see it on either floor of Ryujojo or whatever, not sure where else to look...other sites say rich zombies drop it, guess ill look around where they supposedly spawn, i think my record says ive killed a couple but i don't even recall seein em.

down to Kiryu's ho's! tying up these sidequests soon.

I've seen the Rich zombies once or twice through my 100s of visits to the Quarantine zone, and the game states I killed around 4 or so of them. I did recognize one during a trip, killed it and got something from it.
