aw crap, i didn't even look at the list...there's a lotta online? yeah, pass.
damn man, unless one of the PSP ones gets released, you're set till 5 though! you thought about giving Kenzan a run though? i know it's not at all ideal, but i really do think it's the only shot we're getting. i've heard way too much good about it to miss out, personally.

i couldn't play a game with so much personality and have to read a translation to understand it.

the gameplay would be ok, but i just wouldn't enjoy it.

here's to hoping for a translation along with the panthers.

ps Goda's finale was
more touching than i expected... pops! (;_;)

can someone remind me how Goda went out at 2's finale? i know he survived a few gunshots & Kiryu's beating, i recall him going out a G but i forget exactly how...did it involve him losing that hand?

^so, so jelly. i think ill plat this one one day (gonna take a break after playthrough 1 for a bit), and id love to return to 3 and start the arduous grind there, but im still sitting on an import copy of Kenzan! that i gotta do first. i'm thinking i can tie it all up before 5 though, which if it doesnt show up in japan till next year (likely) we won't see for a while anyway.

but seriously quinntendopower, props! thinking about platting binary domain too?

Dude I am in that same situation with the platinum trophies. I need the cabaret girls and the mini game trophies that stop me.

i'd get to them at some point. if you leave 3 yakuza games left with the grindy trophies you'll go insane going for all of them at the same time.

i think i spent about 80 hours on each platinum, give or take a few hours of each.

i played the 3rd game a few weeks before the 4th came out, and i had the platinum 3 days before the 4th came out.

Haha, the sleeve really does fit your skin color well. Eye patch makes it even better. Thanks for supporting the Yakuza series (everyone!), and enjoy the merch. :)

Just started Goda's chapter yesterday...that fucking forklift and crates make me think there was a puzzle involved, when all I had to do was move the crates with the Japan flag on them, I retried TWICE until I figured it out ugh.
Ah well, still enjoying the game but the slowdown, camera, FPS requiring the use of the Left stick and how some areas aren't that good for fighting zombies are my main gripes with the game.
ATM I give the game 8 out of 10.

Well done, Quin!

Also, one last giveaway from me - next person to post scores their choice of either the Tattoo Sleeve, Eye patch, or card tin.

Good luck!

How do I have the last weapon upgrades appear at Kamiyama's workshop?
Also where can I find the items needed to do a substory for Goda from Gary's place?

Dude that grind with mini games gets me every game. I enjoy the games but it's too grindy for a bronze. I will get them some day though.

Are you talking about the substory with Junya(the guy pleading with Kamiyama to give him a gun)? you can buy 2 of the items from Kamiyama and the amulet from the pawn shop.

as for the weapon upgrades, I assume you mean the character main weapons and the golden gun? just finish up the substories (character weapons) and level up all partners you've recruited in the substories to level 20 (golden gun).

Thanks, will see if Kamiyama has what I'm looking for.

So to get the final upgrades I need to complete all substories first along with getting all my Partners to Lvl. 20.
Thanks for the tips.

Just beat the game...feels good you guys.
Seeing all the refrences to Yakuza 2, I'm getting the urge to play it on my PS2 XP

Just in the hills with Majima right now- enjoying it but nowhere near as much as I did 4, the combat just isn't that great and I loved the combat in the other games.

i just started a fresh yakuza 3 playthrough, and was immediately loving it all over again.

i think controlling a single character is the best choice, and the fucking komaki parry knocking people halfway across the level never gets old.

I agree loved 3 so much. 100% Kiryu is good stuff.

Huahahaha! the
Majima false teeth gag
at the end is really funny. Like, very genuinely humorous and well done and executed.

alright quinntendopower/anyone else who's platted, help me out here!

im early in Kiryu's chapter (1st playthrough on hard), i'm doing some of these spec ops and substories but i figure ill get a chance to do them again at the end when eveyrone's united, or in that new game + mode like last time. what trophies should i be concentrating on?

what stuff is essential for very hard/souls playthorughs? anon too! still too early for guides online, just YT videos under the japanese name at least.

just play the game at your leisure. this one doesn't have too many trophies that require hours of dedication for just one goal. after you have Deal Souls and EX Hard done it's really easy stuff.

EX hard allows you to bring your level and whatever else you have into the playthrough.

Dead Souls does not, it's a fresh level 1 start.

agreed. i'm most of the way through the goda section, & the game's funny & entertaining enough (i like the 'quarantine zone expansion' thing), but the gunplay is nowhere near as much fun as the combat in the other games, & is pretty much just a slog. which is too bad, because the swordplay in kenzan was, for me, as much or even more fun than the brawling in the regular games...

Game is fucking awesome, but I never had doubt. Ryu Ga Gotoku for life!

just on thing...

SOMEONE EXPLAIN WTF ARE THOSE PACHINKO MACHINES ABOUT, PLEASE!

I see those are real Sammy machines, and that Virtua Fighter pachinko looks amazing, but seriously how should I play this thing? I'm baffled. The iron ballsies are falling down, I can speed 'em up, push left, right and a button that does nothing, what the fuck man?

There is a good explanation on ps3trophies.org.

Also I just need Dead Souls mode and max lvl for the platinum. Gonna be tough.

Silly question: This game is not canon right? Assuming the 5th game takes place in 2012 or 2013, would they have the player skip the opening of the Hills or make it so the Hills opens up by the time the 5th game takes place?

pachinko is about getting spins. try to find the sweet spot of power where you get the most spins.

you need to drop the ball into the center cup for a spin. a spin is just like a slot machine, just need to keep playing and eventually you'll hit the jackpot. there will be various events that will improve your odds.

while you are in jackpot, you can rack up extra balls by hitting the spin cup over and over.

i'd play aladdin, that seemed to work well and you can extend the jackpot by hitting some target cups. after you hit 3000 just quit out of the game and go buy the trophy.

dead souls isn't anything special other then not having gear. just hit the casino, make a few million playing baccarat and you'll be set for gear, sushi sets and ammo. there is a boss, and a turret section that can give major problems.

i don't know if this is the story flow or not... characters were certainly aware of previous events and each other, so it's tough to tell.

maaaaaaaaan WTF - ch 4 section 4

okay so i though that healing winged boss was bullshit, but this jeep ride with asagi can suck it - i keep dying right as we pass the 2nd homonculus prototype thing! i'm tagging him as much as i can (on hard mode) before overheating, it's clearly not enough. anything i should be looking for here?

You're playing on Hard? I beat it the first time lol.
Aim at it's weak point and destroy anything it picks up, and you should be able to beat it.
...and if you think it's a pain in the ass now, wonder how you'll feel about it on the harder difficulties.

^read this post & was like "man fuck Tizoc", got it on the next try, heh.
i always suck at these on-rails areas, RE5 did this to me too on harder difficulties. next time ill wear better armor.

Well when I beat it I had like 10% or less health left.
In fact the only times I got retries was...
when doing the forklift section with Goda. Seriously I thought there was a puzzle involved, turned out I just need to move some crates out of the way and move stuff without getting killed.

BTW, anyone caught a zombie yet in fishing?

Beat the game.
Aside from a truly awful boss-fight(IrishNinja mentioned him) I really enjoyed the game.

Still think the camera and controls needed more work though. I understand the direction the game was going for but some slight changes would have done so much.

Didn't get Dead Souls because I don't like the setting but it's good to hear that it's a good Yakuza title.

just beat it also. first yakuza game i ever played on easy, & i'm glad i did - shooters aren't my thing (which's part of the reason i love the series), & the shooting in this game got very old very, very quickly for me. not really sure i would've had the fortitude to finish it if it'd actually been challenging - minus the frustration, it was a fun ride (tho easily the weakest game in the series)...

Get it, you'll get used to the setting eventually. I mean just because Kamuro-cho is struck by a zombie apocalypse, doesn't mean it can't keep on being whacky and absurd.

Easy? EASY?! I'm not good at shooters either but played on Hard and the difficulty was fine, you may as well call that Normal difficulty.
I liked the 'combat' despite being simplistic, just running and gunning zombies reminded me of Metal Slug which is prob. why I liked it ;P

Come on bro, man up and play a New Game+ on Ex. Hard, you may barely notice a change difficulty (except at some boss fights and
Amon
)

So since dead souls difficulty has no new game+ I might as well save that trophy for last right?

Also I just found out the non-fat guy in the van gave out goodies because I have the EU version. I thought it was some weird thing where I could only choose one goodie but turns out I can just take all of them and make the game even easier.

Tizoc

Member
@hamchan- Yeah I figured that out after a few hours of playing, but it's in the EU ver. only? I'm pretty sure it's available in the US ver. as well...
...but yeah leave Dead Souls difficulty for last. I might replay that difficulty while doing as many substories as possible to have enough health and skills just to be safe.

I just started playing this and I caught a zombie the first time I tried fishing. I thought it was scripted that way but maybe I was just lucky?

Yeah it seems to be luck based, I asked in other forums and they managed to get the zombies from fishing by using specific baits at specific fishing distances.

So I bought Yakuza 4 recently for €13, but when I got home I discovered the store clerk actually put in Yakuza Dead Souls! Yay me, but now I need to print a new cover for the game (can anyone post a nice custom made cover ready for printing?) and buy Yakuza 4 again.

:)

if i'm gonna new game+ something, it'll probably be kenzan. any fun i had (& i had a lot with dead souls) had to do with the story & the side-missions. one man's slug is another man's slog :) ...

Holy dropping framerate Dojima. Not fun to fight when there are firebarrels lit. I picked this game up because I wanted to revisit the Yakuza universe.

Only on 2nd chapter and its really cool I get to play Majima but I find walking around the city more enjoyable than fighting zombies. The shooting controls make me miss the combat from Y4 but am slowly getting used to it.

gonna check out your review, Pepsiman - ive liked a few of your others.

gonna tie up Hard mode soon, trophy guides say i should do dead souls next, then Ex Hard, then mop-up in premium, but i hate throwing all my work so far out the window! is EX much better with the rocket launcher Souls gets you, or why is this order recommended?
