"Yeah, at $700 the PS5 Pro is expensive for a console, but I spent more than double that on my GPU alone"Yeah, at $700 the PS5 Pro is expensive for a console, but I spent more than double that on my GPU alone
"Just get a gaming PC instead" isn't good advice for everyone.www.pcgamer.com
TBF, you don't even need a laptop nowadays. The s23 ultra can used in desktop with mouse and keyboard via your TV. It is very good. I use it to edit pdfs, make reports, food orders. Works flawlessly. That was the point I was making. Is it more expensive? Yes. Is it better than any console alternative? Yes. Is it only for gaming? No, it can be used for more stuff.
Even if that was the case (it probably is!) you are paying more for a better experience, not just when it comes to playing the games but also because of all the other positive perks that come with PC gaming. If for example PC gaming didn't allow me to mod the games, use community patches, incredible backcompatibility, emulation and so on I would probably be a console gamer but, imo, all those positive perks justify the extra price.
So imo, when someone says "it costs much more than a console" imo the only correct argument would be "no shit sherlock, it also does much more than a console".
also
are students nowadays doing their homework and essays on their phones or what? I would assume most people at highschool or college would need at least a laptop. Come on, I'm not that old, right?
Well I guess we cant assess anything objectively because there might be a spiritual component that's impossible to take into account. If he finds personally value beyond just monetary measurement, then how?
Scamming implies I was deceived or defrauded of which I was neitherYou're one of the people who got scammed.
I wouldn’t entertain trading my 4090 for a slightly upgraded console that play all the games my base ps5 does, with negligible results.Maybe Gamestop will trade in your GPU and you can get a PS5 Pro.
Good for you."Yeah, at $700 the PS5 Pro is expensive for a console, but I spent more than double that on my GPU alone"
Yeah...
PS5 pro = 1000$ in canada
Series X = 500$
Switch = 400$
All = 1900$ ?
this PC cost 950$
Can play microsoft games , sony games, switch games, plus free online +100 emulator
and mods etc
A lot of games are coming day-one on PC
I think i will stick to PC
Don't mind him. Just another person throwing around the word scam without knowing what it means. If he finds personally value beyond just monetary measurement, then how?
You're one of the people who got scammed.
When it comes to what the value something provides on a personal level, you can't.Well I guess we cant assess anything objectively because there might be a spiritual component that's impossible to take into account.
a person with unlimited money who buys expensive things they're incapable of utilizing is an easy mark.People who have millions in their bank accounts can afford to be scammed whenever they want.
I have talked to people here that spend twice that amount for a single golf clubWhen it comes to what the value something provides on a personal level, you can't.
Some people think I'm nuts to spend $500-$700 per tire for cars that I track. They're not car people or not as much an enthusiast as I am. Others are, hence the market for them. It provides me a value of adrenalin and joy that I will never ever get back monetarily. Literal burn 'em up and toss 'em.
Is this box expensive? Yes. Every piece of electronics has gone up in all industries (look at the price of iPhones now). Could you put an objective VALUE on that? No. The market will dictate that, and each person's individual perception of that value.
Again a scam implies I was defrauded and its something I will use a lot as I play on my PS5 oftena person with unlimited money who buys expensive things they're incapable of utilizing is an easy mark.
The "but a GPU alone costs a bazillion dollars" doesn't make any sense man.
1. You don't need that kind of GPU to play modern games at 4K (DLSS) and 60fps, a 4070 is fine for that and that GPU doesn't cost you near that ammount of money.
2. Of course a PC is going to be more expensive than a console. Consoles are designed for gaming and nothing else, while with a PC you can do much more than just game.
Imo the problem with the Pro isn't really the price, but the fact that the gap in price between a PS5 Pro and a similarly capable PC when it comes to gaming is so small that it makes the "consoles are much more affordable than PCs" argument something of the past.
a person with unlimited money who buys expensive things they're incapable of utilizing is an easy mark.
Never go prebuilt, they are much more expensive.1. But what about for a person that doesn't have a gaming PC at all? A 4070 cost $550 by itself. A pre-build PC on Amazon right now with a 4070 cost between $1,300 and $1,800!!!
Well then don't get a PC I guess? Even if it's just for gaming, a PC still offers much more value than a console, but people just refuse to take that into account.2. Some of people don't need a PC at all for other stuff. They use their iphones or a tablet.

People buy stuff all the time that never see their full potentialIt doesn't really matter whether someone can use the full potential of a given product or not, having a large amount of free lying money means that you can adopt any criteria other than the price/quality/utility ratio.
Never go prebuilt, they are much more expensive.
And as I said, that's not the point. Ofc a PC is going to be more expensive than a console, a PC is designed to do much more stuff than a console.
Well then don't get a PC I guess? Even if it's just for gaming, a PC still offers much more value than a console, but people just refuse to take that into account.
>14700F that’s like 80% faster than the consoles’ CPU.Ps5 pro it is…
I used to build mine but kind of over doing thatNever go prebuilt, they are much more expensive.

I don't know man. A PC is expensive sure, but you might end up saving money thanks to games being cheaper and not needing to pay to play online. You're getting a better value but at the end of the day you are still spending more money
Well, that's those people problem lol.- That's the problem. Many people don't want to "build" a PC. If a pre-built PC is too expensive, then that's the point someone would just go with a PS5 Pro.
- And again......not everyone needs a desktop PC at all.
Yeah I haven't built one in ages lol.I used to build mine but kind of over doing that
Now I either have a shop that specializes in it do it for me or more recently just buying prebuilts from Best Buy, just tend to stay away from the cheaper stuff.
I have never had a problem with Corsair from them and even when I do have electronic issues with something I buy from them its very nice just walking in the door and handing them the item and most times they just give me a new one.
Even their better prebuilt PCs they just order a new one for you if you push a little. If its say an IBUYPOWER they will try to fix it first
Same here I have a shop near my hometown in Indiana that you can pick and choose stuff off their shelves and they will assemble it and put a warranty on itI don't know man. A PC is expensive sure, but you might end up saving money thanks to games being cheaper and not needing to pay to play online.
Well, that's those people problem lol.
Pls go back to the first post I made, the one you quoted a moment ago. My points are that it's normal for a PC to be more expensive than a console because a PC is designed to do lots of stuff while a console is designed to just game and, also, that having a console like the PS5 Pro being so close in price to a PC that has near the same gaming capabilities might hurt the console market. Someone in another post posted some tweets about how some stores in Japan are offering PC deals for those that think the PS5 Pro is too expensive. Sure, some people might not want to game on PC but, some people might want to too.
Yeah I haven't built one in ages lol.
What I did for mine was pick and choose the pieces one by one on an spanish website, then pay an extra 50€ for it to be not just assembled, but also tested, which I think it's fine since you forget about possible day 1 issues and can just focus on enjoying your new machine.
Its the cheapest cpu Dell sells. And i am a dumb consumer so 800 > 1900. I am getting a pro. (After the reviews are in) and dont tell me i can can do more with a pc cuz i have a ton of work laptops laying around for porn and spreadsheets. I buy my console for games just as i would a gaming pc.>14700F that’s like 80% faster than the consoles’ CPU.
The dumbassery on Gaf sometimes.
I dont see a 4070ti with a zen 2 cpu build for 1000 canadian bit the card alone is rhe same as the pro>Post a bunch of prebuilts with high-end CPUs and 4070 Tis, not realizing that in 3-4 months, we’ll have cards like the 5060/8700 XT for $300-400, which should land in ballpark of a PS5 Pro’s GPU
>Bu bu but gaiz, $3000 to match a PS5 Pro!
OT: I cry every time I'm in a city and see a Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, or even a nice Corvette being piddled about on the busy stop and go traffic and streets. How many here own a sporty car that's never driving it at its max speed?

I live near Miami and see so many rich dudes driving stupid expensive sports cars like they are afraid they will break them is crazyOT: I cry every time I'm in a city and see a Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, or even a nice Corvette being piddled about on the busy stop and go traffic and streets.
Just the other day I passed a brand new white Corvette ZR1 (I think) on a beautiful and winding road going 5 under the speed limit. A road where everyone speeds and enjoys the actual road and the cops there don't give a shit.

There is no question. You will end up saving money. Between game prices and the online sub you'll come out ahead on PC gaming but people don't think like that. They think about what they are spending now. Hence why CC debt is out of control because people just see that they only have to spend a small amount now with CC payments. Not realizing over time they are spending way more to purchase that product they got 6 months ago.
That GPU is also likely double the power of the PS5 Pro though and, you get access to 40+ years of games. Also, PCs aren't just for gaming even though people try to act like they are these days.
$700 for a console that is locked to 1-2 generation of games, offers an incremental upgrade over the current system and plays the same games isn't a good value proposition.
People buy stuff all the time that never see their full potential
How many here own a sporty car that's never driving it at its max speed?
If never reaching a products full potential now means people have been scammed every single one of us are fucked
Oh yeah? What sporty car you have?People buy stuff all the time that never see their full potential

You don't go into PC gaming for the price that's for sure. Jensen needs a new jacket.I know people are going to rush in and get defensive. Lol.
But the point he is making is a decent one.
There are many benefits to PC gaming vs Console gaming. But as an entry level into higher end gaming, PS5 Pro is a reasonable price. Which is correct.
Because a 4070 Ti is over twice the rasterization performance of a PS5 when Cerny said verbatim the Pro is 45% faster. So why exactly are you going for a PC with a CPU that's 80% faster and GPU that's easily 20%+ faster and then complaining you cannot find it for $1000 CAD?I dont see a 4070ti with a zen 2 cpu build for 1000 canadian bit the card alone is rhe same as the pro
If you're going to spend money, be smart about it, don't be an idiot. I'm not big on TVs, but I'm not just buying the first one that comes up on Best Buy's webpage. I do my research and look for the best TV I can get for the best price. If money is such a concern, the least you can do is your due diligence and research what you're about to buy. Or is that too much of a hassle because you're too lazy to do that as well? Its the cheapest cpu Dell sells. And i am a dumb consumer so 800 > 1900. I am getting a pro. Microcenter will do this as well. You pick the parts and they will build it. Cost depends on what you want. If you go with custom cooking, expect to pay more $ since they takes a while.Same here I have a shop near my hometown in Indiana that you can pick and choose stuff off their shelves and they will assemble it and put a warranty on it
You can sit there with them and watch and learn if you pick a time to come in but its usually something that you come back and pick up at a later date
Yeah wish I had a closer one to my hometown in Indiana, its about 3 hours awayMicrocenter will do this as well. You pick the parts and they will build it. Cost depends on what you want. If you go with custom cooking, expect to pay more $ since they takes a while.
I dont have a great picture of her I want to share, this is the only one that doesn't have me or me and my wife inOh yeah? What sporty car you have?
Who the hell burns money on ton of laptops for work and watch port on them?dont tell me i can can do more with a pc cuz i have a ton of work laptops laying around for porn and spreadsheets.
Guilty of “sporty” car as well. Got a small SUV (parking in DC garages sucks so much), but instead of just going with your vanilla 4 cylinder turbo, I had to have twin turbo V6, because standing in traffic is much better with 100 more horsepower!Yeah wish I had a closer one to my hometown in Indiana, its about 3 hours away
I dont have a great picture of her I want to share, this is the only one that doesn't have me or me and my wife in
Was a 2006 Ford GT but got rid of her awhile back with my knee giving me troubles
Its an old pic not long after I got her
My Driver is $1400 CDN with upgraded shaft, you don't even want to know the rest of them....I have talked to people here that spend twice that amount for a single golf club
