There is nothing cultish about it. This isnt the first time a director's cut has been released. Ridley Scott has released what 5 Blade Runner Director's cuts?

The only difference in this case is that it wasnt just the studio messing with the director's vision, they literally fired the guy and had another guy come in and completely butcher his movie. Dozens of shots in the trailers were not in the final version. Entire scenes were taken out. Embarrassing scenes with Flash grabbing Wonder Woman's tits were added in. Entire Junkie XL score was thrown out. The entire look of the final battle was changed. This was far far worse than what they did to David Fincher's alien movie.

Is it really that weird to think that people would want to see the original version?

Also, unlike say David Ayer who also had his movie butchered by a trailerhouse company no less, Snyder has a far larger following due to his work on 300 and Watchmen. Man of Steel is widely derided on the internet as an awful movie, but I thought it looked stunning and had some great fight sequences.

His fans just want to see more of this.

They didn't fire anyone his daughter commit suicide and he stepped down.

According to Snyder, because it fills an IMAX screen nicely and superheroes tend to have vertical figures.

BvS has some IMAX scenes. This comparison is slightly misleading because the standard and 1.9:1 versions have a slow digital pan and zoom to fake a camera move and let you see the upper section:

Yeah, I went and looked up why he did it. I've honestly never been a fan of the movies that have the IMAX scenes then change aspect ratio, so I get that, but the 1.43:1 aspect ratio rather than the 1.9:1 I don't get. You can frame the image to have the same height as the 1.43:1 but have more image to the left and right. Even then, why go with 1.33:1 with the final cut and not 1.43:1 if that's how it was originally shot? We'd at least be getting a little more image with it.

Yep, after BVS came out had this friend who went full on alex jones conspiracy theory on how Rotten Tomatoes was out to sabotage the DC movies. I had to stop hanging out with this dude it was seriously his obsession... it was so weird he would not stop bringing it up lol

If Snyder did understand these characters, we’d have a DC cinematic universe as popular as Marvel’s. He doesn’t. And neither plainly do his fans. And nor do the execs at Warner Bros.

Aaaccshully! He's one of the main credited writers for the first Wonder Woman. That and Justice League are the only DCU movies he's had story credit for. Though Chris Terrio is still the main credited writer for JL and I've yet to see his name attached to anything good outside of Argo...

Yeah I understand that happens with scripts. Though Heinberg and Fuchs have story credit and have not worked on on any other DCU stuff.
