Zack Snyder's Justice League |OT| Tell Me...Do You Still Bleed?

In ZSJL, there are more black or POC Amazons ... in Whedon's cut, there were none. And these were ORIGINAL footage in ZSJL... not any recent shoots

Iris was cut out (that's who car crash lady was)

Cyborg's whole story was cut out... making him basically a Deus Ex Machina...

Ryan Choi was cut out

Whedon saving Silas was odd, though.
I saw 1 black Amazon.

Darkseid was also cut out. Steppenwolf’s role was cut down as well. Batman looking for Aquaman was cut down. It’s as if you can have less stuff in a 2 hour movie vs a 4 hour movie.

Well I don't know what to say, I honestly didn't expect anything but I was surprised. The movie's actually decent and wasn't a cookie cutter superhero movie. I'm starting to think maybe Snyder would be a better fit for TV, not saying the length was good for the film but I feel Snyder's more comfortable when he has more time to play with. There are things that definitely could have been edited out or shortened but all in all the beat to beat of this film was way better than the original. I don't understand why they cut so much of cyborg in the original cut. His arc is by far the most interesting in the movie, and probably the most important. It's a shame what happened with this series, more than any other film you can see a glimpse of how brilliant these movies could have been. I hope one day DC decides to try again with their universe, there's a lot of potential there.

One thing I’ll say about the Zack Snyder cut - the action sequences are better but the movie is still dumb in the BvS continuity. There are so many slow motion scenes, so much over dramatisation. It’s still a poor movie. Steppenwolf is a better villain though. I’ve only seen half the movie so far. Honestly, will we ever see a good Superman movie or a Batman movie that portrays Batman as he should be? Or a Flash that’s not a bumbling comedic relief?

How do you think Batman should be portrayed?

Zach Snyder seems to work best with long form movies or mini series. I still don't think that jumping straight to darkseid before introducing aquaman and flash was the best idea. I'm also not a fan of this darker dc universe plus don't go the injustice route. Everything is just moving too quickly. No build up of skills and backstory to flesh out the characters. Snyderverse seems to be going the darkroute for DC. I guess to counter the lighthearted comedic action style of marvel. Which I would be fine with as along as they don't go the injustice route. Make a dark dramatic epic dc sure but keep them somewhat in character to the comics and cartoons, no injustice. Although I enjoyed the movie and it felt honestly quite epic the movie still had tons of issues. Darkseid was a complete disappointment in my opinion.

Okay, so these guys are doing this series of videos on the history of the Snyder Cut. You absolutely must watch these 2 parts, if not the others. Warner Bros can go fuck themselves.

Thanks for sharing, these are pretty interesting. I would love to read Snyder's original Justice League script before the studio forced them to do rewrites. I wonder what the "big idea" was that got shot down by the studio - I'm guessing Bruce Wayne banging Lois.

Here it is.

I just finished the movie and I’m digesting it. I can say I’m pretty happy with it.

Cw's flash is pretty decent and their version of Barry is nto a glob ball.

I watched the 2017 Justice League movie last night and one of the things that makes the biggest change for me on a technical level is the music. The Junkie XL soundtrack elevates it to a whole other level.
I understand what they were going for with the 2017 version but Danny Elfman really fucked up with the music he presented.
Just watch the scene with Batman in the Batmobile with the Parademons chasing him.

PS5 doesn't support 4K HDR? That doesn't sound right.
ps5 supports it but the app doesnt.

the hbo max roll out has been pretty fucking awful. they first got rid of hbo go instead of just changing hbo go to hbo max. then they completely fucked up the rollout with roku and several other streaming sticks and smart tvs missing out on the app alone.

and for some reason, only three movies are in 4k hdr. and now that ive watched this on two tvs and three apps (roku +, ps5 and sony bravia's android tv) i can safely say that the bitrate is way too low for a good 4k stream. this is way lower than what i get on disney+ and vudu.

yeah, that was my biggest gripe with the original. the soundtrack was so generic and so mute, it completely ruined all the action scenes. the only good piece of music was whenever flash went slow mo which is classic Danny Elfman very similar to his work in Hulk. the rest brought down the intensity instead of elevating it.

I want the detective, martial artist, strategist and more importantly the smart Batman. Why is he going around as Bruce Wayne telling people he’s Batman? Why are his movements so laboured?
hes been doing this for 20 years. "20 years in gotham, alfred.... how many good guys are left? how many stayed that way?"
in bvs, he does a lot of detective work. watch the extended edition. that said, he has the weakest arc in the movie. its supposed to be a redemption arc, but they dont pull it off well. shouldve leaned in more on his obsession with bringing back superman knowing bringing him back will doom the world in the process. like when cyborg has that vision of superman turning evil, they shouldve stopped right there and had an extended scene where batman has to go against the team to bring back superman.

apparently the scene with joker at the end was supposed to be the ending of the next movie. so they were definitely gonna go the injustice route especially with planting the seed for Louis' pregnancy.

thank god this is the end of the snyderverse, hopefully. I thought the black suit was a foretelling of possibly evil superman but it also could have just been a comic nostalgia trip. Personally I was thinking evil Superman since he had no reason to up and change into a suit he was unfamiliar with. and again I hate the rushed element of the snyderverse. Doomsday should have taken on the entire justice league.

The black suit helps him absorb solar radiation and return to full strength. Makes sense here considering he was just resurrected and all.

I must be too old for this shit. This just doesn't tick my cool super hero box. I sat through half of it and couldn't bare anymore.

Why is Ben Affleck batman? I laugh everytime he is on screen saying something. He looks like a rubber Michelin man in that suit.

The only cool thing in this movie is Steppenwolf

I think I just have older taste. Glad everyone gets excited for these movies and enjoys them. 4 hours is heaps of movie for the fans.

I agree that Affleck's Batman was a bit flat in this. I preferred him in BvS as darker and more brooding. It's tough to keep Batman interesting though when he's surrounded by people orders of magnitude more powerful than him.

I think it can be safely assumed given that the first thing he does after putting on the suit is fly into space to soak up some radiation.
Him flying into space could mean anything though. He just got through nearly crushing the justice league and then flying lois back to the farm. Could just be Zach Snyder wanted that type of scene in the movie for the visuals. Superman in space is such a weirdly superman visual even though he doesn't really do anything in space.

He didn't stop it and he probably could have.

I enjoyed the film way more now than I ever had the previous one. Mostly, how it feels to have context to scenes without it. This movie also makes Aquaman (movie not character) make a TON more sense.

Batman did the right thing here by not sacrifying himself

How? It contradicts a lot of what Wan did in Aquaman.

Mera's dad is alive and a main character in Aquaman, he's dead in Justice League.
Vulko is different, he never trained Arthur in the Justice League timeline; but he trained Arthur in Aquaman. Vulko's armor also wasn't like Atlantis armor from Aquaman, it was more like Xebel (Mera's people).
They can't talk under water, just clicks and dolphin noises. No air bubbles needed to talk in Aquaman.
Atlantis (where the Mother Box was kept) also looks in ruins in Justice League, when it was neon and futuristic in Aquaman.

Honestly the Atlantis stuff is really the ONLY thing that clashes with the rest of the DCEU. If that stuff was edited down there's no reason it couldn't still be canon.

I posted an interview with Zack earlier. He blames the Bat but that’s not the reason he goes berserk. Darkseid uses this moment to control him using the antilife equation. The plot for the next two films are in the article.

So in the Knightmare sequences Superman is mindcontrolled by Darkseid?

I wish the movie explained just a tiny bit about this plot. I'm still not sure what happened to Lois or why Bruce is responsible for her death. Maybe Darkseid tortured her to break Superman's spirit or something?

Problem with Justice League (and the DC Universe) is they never built up to the big team movie like Marvel did. In the Avengers, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor all had their own movies (plural) before The Avengers came out and Black Widow was in Iron Man 2. Only Hulk and Hawkeye made their first appearances in The Avengers.

They built up to it, which made it an even and then built upon that with more Avengers movies and solo movies.

JLA was a mess. They saw the success of The Avengers and wanted to recreate that success. I mean they have Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. (personally I only remember Cyborg from New Teen Titans but anyway....)
They shoehorned everyone in: Batman (last solo movie was 5 years earlier with a different Batman), Superman, Wonder Woman (just had her first solo movie only months earlier, Flash (no solo movie), Aquaman (no solo movie), Cyborg (no solo movie).

If they only waited 5 more years and produced a solo Batman movie along with Aquaman, Flash and maybe a Cyborg movie then they could have had a cohesive and exciting movie.

Looking forward to seeing the new cut though. Even though Batman is still in limbo and still no Flash or Cyborg movies (I want a New Teen Titans movie!), and only one Aquaman movie.

Hawkeye was in Thor and Hulk literally has his own movie.

That first Barry scene where he saves Iris is weird and honestly I still didn't like the performance or writing for him until the end. Also it's unfortunate that batmans "just save one person" moment was cut. That was one of my favorite parts of the original.

He could have sacrificed himself in order to save her, in the third movie they would go back in time and he would do it. Twenty years later Lois and Clark’s son, Bruce Kent, is taken to the batcave and becomes the new Batman, he has no superpowers. I’m not making this up.

I thought it was really good. Makes me even more sad that WB didnt allow Zack snyder to have full reign on DCU. He wanted more movies to lead up to JL if I recall but the studio wanted to fast track everything.

One thing though. Darkseid is weaker than Ares? not much of a final boss..

He didn't use his omega beams during the first invasion of earth for some reason. Not a great way to introduce a powerful villain by showing him getting defeated moments later. :lollipop_grinning:

Dunno if it's in the comics but maybe Darkseid got stronger and learned the omega beams technique later on, he looks much more menacing during Cyborg's nightmare vision.

That was "Baby Darkseid".

He gets much more powerful and experienced + Omega Beam latter on.

I dunno, it took the collective power of ALLLLL the Amazons, Atlantians, humans, a Lantern and several gods to wound him.

Also his eyes weren't glowing during that battle flashback so I kinda thought he didn't have the Omega Beams at the time. He looked less powerful, somehow.

Not really, it was Zeus and Ares' combined attack that did him in. By no means did I think Darkseid come off looking weak by the way.

Diana was telling a story so I get that they couldn't really go into all kinds of long battle scenes between the earth forces and Darkseid's forces even if I personally wished to see more Darkseid in combat.

Yeah, I was going to mention that but it was really the first big Marvel movie but didn't star Ruffalo. The MCU really began with Iron Man.

Yes it began with Iron Man of course. Later, IM2, Hulk and Thor actually happen all in the same week or so, so Hulk Is canon. Also, Norton to Ruffalo was not the only casting change in the MCU. Cheadle replaced Howards and I’d count Thanos too ;)

This movie was amazing holy shit the imagery in this movie is off the walls, they did my boy cyborg good in this and wtf is wrong josh for cutting the flash scene at the end? That was amazing. Gonna miss batfleck, nightmare scene with him and joker was my favorite. 9/10 super hero film.

WB should be absolutely ashamed they had a knowingly much better version of JL at their disposal and they went with the shitty Whedon cut. I finally had the time to sit down and watch it today and I fucking loved it. Cyborg was an absolute standout to me in this movie, and I loved the Flash.

Still thinking about this movie ❤️🍿

The first hour is so strong, it presents the threat that Darkside/Steppenwolf represents and all characters introductions are cool and well done, its just a fun comicbook movie with vision, leagues above the 2017 one, the much hyped Wonder Woman 2, and big step for Snyder movies. We needed a movie like in the current pandemic. Hopefully its not the last we see of Zack Snyder Justice League but if it is im glad the movie has been redeemed and Justice League has a cool live action movie at least!

My mind is flabigasted that WB had a 2 hour mandate for the 2017 film. I can not understand why they created this stupid mandate for the Justice League film. Especially since they didn't go the MCU route of introducing each character in their own film, screen time was essential to get the characterisation right. In the 2017 version Aquaman, Cyborg and Flash are just there and basically have zero fleshing out. The 3 of them are fully fleshed out characters in the Snyder cut.

And I don't agree with the narrative that Ray Fisher got fucked in the arse.
I believe that Ray Fisher, Ezra Miller and Jason Mamoa all got fucked in the arse.

The problem was the previous movie. Bvs was way too long even in its theatrical run and way too boring. these simple minded idiots figured the problem was length and lack of humor, and decided to fix that in a movie that didnt have these issues. i was surprised at how well this movie flowed from one scene to the next. those 4 hours flew by. by the end, i didnt want it to end.

as for why whedon cut all those mini arcs, i have no fucking idea since whedon added A LOT of his own scenes. all three openings were his. the superman youtube video. the batman rooftop action scene. and the intro montage. thats like 15 minutes right there. he then littered the movie with terrible jokes and completely reshot the ending battle to add quips and humor. its almost like he went in to ruin the franchise forever. its that bad.
