there has been so much posted about zelda: tp i decided to make a compilation thread. first of all, everything here is from e3, but on recently scouting i missed some of it, so i figured some other fans may have. if anybody can post any other good links, thanks.

zelda universe [noe] and zelda universe [noa] are excellent official nintendo sites, and are essential for every zelda fan. they have downloadable mp3s, detailed information on all the zelda games, wallpaper, galleries, info on bosses, fantastic artwork from all the games that is [mostly] clean, like this [below], and other great stuff.

Awaken the Hero - and the Animal - Within!

In The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Link’s life takes a sudden and dramatic turn. Raised to be a wrangler, looking after the farm’s animals, Link’s adventure begins when he is ordered by the mayor to attend the Hyrule Summit. As he sets off, he is oblivious to the dark fate which has descended upon the kingdom.

When he enters the Twilight Realm that has covered Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and is captured. A mysterious figure named Midna helps him escape, and with the aid of her magic, they set off to free the land from the shadows.

Link must explore the vast land of Hyrule and uncover the mystery behind its plunge into darkness. As he does, he'll have to solve puzzles, enlist the aid of friendly folk, and battle his way through dangerous dungeons. In the Twilight Realm, he’ll have to use his wolf abilities and Midna’s magic to bring light to the land.

On his quest, Link can ride into battle against troops of foul creatures with an incredible horseback combat system, then take on massive bosses that must be seen to be believed. Besides his trusty sword and shield, Link will use his bow and arrows, fight while on horseback, and use a wealth of other items, both new and old.

- Eiji Aonuma and Shigeru Miyamoto had this to say about their roles in the game:
aonuma said:
...I am the producer of this title. I use the analogy that I am in charge of putting together a tea table; when I showed Mr Miyamoto what I'd come up with, in typical Miyamoto fashion he took over! So my job is to make sure the tea table is correctly assembled...
miyamoto said:
...and my role is “to clean up the tea table”...
- the game is the 'biggest' zelda in many ways
- the graphic style enhances the gameplay

- the graphics and animation are still being polished
- interactivity is important:
miyamoto said:
...cleverly interacting with the characters needs to match the feeling of realism that the graphics already provide. And that's what we're working on; it's a continual learning process...
- link is more a shepherd [than cowboy]
- twilight princess occurs a few decades after ocarina of time, but before wind waker
- animals play a big part in the game:
aonuma said:
...in addition to link transforming into a wolf, he'll also be able to communicate with animals - he can learn new things that way, and the animals form a big theme of the game...
- the twilght is a separate area rather than a different version of the same world, [unlike link to the past]:
aonuma said:
...the twilight is fuelled by magic power and link can't exist in his human form in that area. We can't go into details, but it is part of his destiny to become that wolf...
- in the trailer zelda is dressed in a funeral robe:
aonuma said:
...zelda can't stop twilight from taking over hyrule, and her inability to halt twilight at this point has a definite connection with link's transformation...
d8357e15-bb3e-4bf8-a89a-ad709c76babc.jpg

- when link is transformed into the wolf he can talk to animals, has heightened senses, can see special things and his hearing improves
aonuma said:
...so you use these senses to solve otherwise unsolvable puzzles. His attacks, like you saw in the trailer, will be influenced by the character on his back...

...she is midna, a resident of the Twilight realm. She has her own motivations and thinks that wolf-Link can help her, so they begin a co-operative relationship...
e022ce88-0683-4228-8258-d91538681568.jpg

- each temple will have an overall graphical theme [like the forest temple] and specific purpose [like helping the monkeys]
- the combat system is based on wind waker, but is more complex and enhanced with new elements and whole new actions

c2614fdb-87de-4b59-b0c6-d3e2eac5796b.jpg

- there are new items in the game and familiar ones with new, unique usages, like the whirlwind power of the gale boomerang

2cc7bfd4-d638-4990-86b5-801b9d1f13a4.jpg

- there is a new intuitive circular menu system, so players don't know how many items there are
- the goal of the development team is to make a game better than all other zelda games, and correct the complaints players had about wind waker
aonuma said:
...our motivation is to create a game that really surpasses Ocarina of Time...

...we think the number of the dungeons and the content of the dungeons will be better...
- koji kondo and his sound team are creating the music
- orchestrated music will be used for enhancing parts of the game, but won't be used for all the game
- the music will be in 5.1 surround dolby pro logic II
- voice acting, in some form, is being considered

miyamoto said:
we want the user to feel like they inhabit the zelda world, to create a gaming experience where they ARE link, they are the hero, that’s the goal.

"What's with these talking pictures....talkies, the kids call them? It'll ruin movies if the actors sound like Fran from the Nanny!"

I'm willing to let Nintendo take the chance on voice acting if it means they join the rest of us in the 21st century. :)

No just no don't need crappy VA messing up Zelda.

Nah, they should add voice acting to the series soon, as long as it's good. It'll be fine if they don't do it in TP, but on Revolution, it should have voice acting. Just one of those things that needs to eventually change, especially for a game that should be telling an epic story.

But yeah, this game looks amazing. The haters are funny.

they could always do what many games do where everyone has a voice but the main charecter you play as.

leaving that to be you and your imagination.

i agree. i don't think this would harm the game too much as long as it's good, but i don't mind the lack of voice acting in zelda.

and thanks for the positive feedback guys :)

Bah it would just end with cheesy American accent for the good guys and the stereotypical English accent for the bad guys.

IF they do use VAs, I hope they create a new language.

If they do voice-acting, it better be Japanese with subtitles. I wouldn't be able to stand stereotypical American accents. On top of that, there's something elegant about Japanese.

But they shouldn't do voice-acting, imo.

The fact I'm holding off on reading too much info about Twilight Princess makes threads like this both a blessing and a curse. :lol

I did the same thing with RE4, and I was absolutely floored when I finally played the game. I'd like to get the same buzz when I crack open TP, but I do appreciate the effort you put into your compilation.

Have you guys noticed that the Horse has a much better model now? He looks bigger, and the hair on it even moves, at least in comparison to the model on most early videos/screenshots. That, or you're able to pick any horse from Link's village, but I'm not sure.

Although I think Link looks cool and all, I liked his Ocarina look better. Anyone else feel this way?

hahah oblivion, go check Zelda OOT pictures at IGN and then come back :lol

Huh? I was referring to the art, not the actual graphics. I think you don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that the graphics on the GC are usually better than the 64.

I think the horse is a she.

3 more months until release and we still don't know a lot about the game. I don't think this was done when OOT was about to be released.

Oh yeah, I meant "she". But yeah, I've been looking at all the E3 showfloor footage, and the model for the horse is so much better than what we've seen in old trailers/screenshots. Even the E3 2005 trailer has the old horse model, so it was probably done before preparing the E3 playable demo.

Of course, this means the game is obviously going to look so much better. In fact, my only complain was the horse, but now it looks very good.

I was waiting for someone to do this, I don't give a shit about TP Link looking angsty, he looks better than OOT Link.

I must be stupid or something, where can you see this new version of the horse?

I think they are talking about that video that IGN have of E3, which is big as fuck and if you don't want to get spoiled I suggest you don't download it
