I guess there is no point in downloading the PC demo if I don't have gamepad? The first game wasn't suited to KB+mouse...

I haven't tried yet, but it looks like it actually supports using the mouse now? It's my understanding that the first one was all keyboard controls, which was kind of awkward, personally. I'm not sure how well it controls with KB+M though, I use a gamepad for stuff like this.

Some screens, max settings (even motion blur) 3200x1800 downsampled.

We'll see, downloading now. It's only 1.3GB.

For people interested, here's the video settings screen

And game options screen. Notice that you can turn off QTE's.

PC version it is!

Just out of curiosity did you play LoS1 on your PC as well? Do you figure how well you can run LoS1 to be a good indicator of how well you can run LoS2?

Well, I certainly enjoyed it!

I think the platforming navigation helped when things got hectic, and switching combat weapons felt really effective. Dodging all over the place with Dracula feels cool, MUST FEEEEED.

I think the game's settings are a bit confusing though- was that giant mech powered by an illuminating cross? I hope the open world traversal is fun. It looked glorious on PC.

How'd it run? Specs?

Just beat it, really enjoyed it.

I really love that you have proper camera control and you don't have to constantly drain souls to get your magic up.

Contrary to most posters, it seems, I found the demo to be yet another mediocre action game. It's not doing anything that hasn't been done before, and I feel like what it is doing is only being done in a very "meh" fashion.

Combat didn't feel too great - it flowed well but the three weapons didn't seem 'different' enough for my tastes. The combos felt stunted and incredibly short, and I found 0 reason to ever use the whip once they gave access to the sword and gauntlets. When you get the sword, feeding effectively becomes pointless. Based on the demo alone, I will not be picking up the full game.

That said, it is pretty.

Just beat it on PC. Poor demo.

Tutorial, crappy platforming, beginning of a boss fight, more crappy platforming, the end.

They could at least have given us the rest of the fight.

Thank you, I'm excited for LOS 2 and am giving it the benefit of the doubt as this is the start of the game but I was really bemused to see so many enjoy this demo =/

I'm assuming in the final game they're not going to give you all three weapons at the start like that, or they'll give you them to begin with and take them away after a short intro section (a la meeting Death in Sympony of the Night).

i7 3770K, 8GB RAM, GTX 680- no problems. Everything was on ultra/high, smooth 60- much like the first game!

That vomiting shot- amazingness. I hope the game turns out to be good, I'll be late to the party on this one. But I do wish they let us finish the boss fight.

Oh, and aerial combos are still boss.

well you still got the Shadow Whip which acts like the Vampire Killer.

Yes, it did, but only for those who bought MoF HD or the Castlevania Lords of Shadow Collection.
and yes it is the same demo as the E3 one.

Shadow Whip, works just like the Vampire Killer, with a couple new combos(and some stripped).

Good, good, can't wait!

Sounds like the demo for the first game really, it did pick up the pace though!

Started playing and thought man this looks a bit crap, went in to setting after killing the first few guys and changed it to 1080p

So glad I went for a gaming PC last week, gonna run it with fraps just to see how my 280x is running it, but felt extremely smooth and looked beautiful to boot!

I was already planning on buying the game, but the demo sold me hard on it. Epic feel to what I imagine is the opening to the game with some great music and voice acting. Combat is fast and fluid, when I saw another Titan (one of the things I disliked most about the original) I nearly facepalmed but the sectionw as great. Nice mix of combat, platforming and even an odd QTE thrown in (though I now know these can be turned off)

Platforming sections in the demo are terrible. It would help if I could see what can I climb onto and not without using the guide button. And at one section the wall texture was so dark I had to continue on blind.

I think they're repeating their mistake with the demo for LoS1 by not giving you more moves to play with, mashing buttons isn't really that fun. At least you have the light/dark stuff from the start here. There's also the heavy attacks I think by holding X or Y for the first attack. And yeah, they're very generous with the block timing here.

Demo ran okay, no 60 FPS for me like the first game but I haven't played around with the setting beyond dropping most of the stuff to medium. Seems to be an okay port performance-wise.

This game would look bad if it wasn't for the awesome frame-rate and modern effects (motion and cutscene animations are fantastic). It also felt very epic. Some forced/boring platforming/climbing and combat didn't have much to it. It feels underwhelming compared to the first LoS, but I'll probably have to play this anyway.

From what I played, this definitely needs to be played on the hardest difficulty possible for veterans of the genre.

Is my machine not good enough or are many of the cutscenes running at 30fps? I get a solid 60 in gameplay with no drops..

i'll test this theory later, but i think DoF is applied on cutscenes and it's really performance hungry, or the game/demo is unoptimized.

Looks nice
x360 button prompts on pc with no controller plugged in..... facepalm
Plays the same as the first one from the short time I had with the demo

Wow, the game doesn't look bad on PC, played the PS3 demo at a convention a while ago and thought it was very ugly.

Didn't think it played that well either, especially the platforming on that giant golem/knight thing.

Demo defaulted to 720p for me,maybe because of my 560Ti but I raised it up to 1080p with no problems...hated the climbing parts so much but liked everything else...not day one anymore because of this, will wait to see if there is a lot of that kind of climbing before buying.

Oh wow. you can turn off QTE? I don't think i've ever seen that option before...

How's it running on your rig?

PC version it is!

Yeah I own LoS1 on PC and LoS2 runs pretty much the same. For some reason, the framerate dips to 35/40ish during the cutscenes but then pops right back to a steady 60fps for gameplay. I have a i7 2600k, 8gb ram and GTX660 running at 1080p.

Is my machine not good enough or are many of the cutscenes running at 30fps? I get a solid 60 in gameplay with no drops..

Yeah the same happens to me.

Best part of the demo? Puking Gabriel.

I liked the short demo, it is more Lords of Shadow which I also liked. But I am really disappointed in the lack of preorder incentives Konami promised, where is Mirror of Fate HD?

Was already planning on buying this, and really just wanted to play the demo to see how much the flow of combat was improved. It's been improved, a lot.

is it still a boring GoW clone?

First game had some tedious parts for sure, but I still found it a lot more enjoyable than any God of War game past 1&2 (which I still think are far superior). Incidentally, during one of the opening sequences of the demo I thought "Damn, they just said "fuck it" and went all out trying to be God of War"".

Also, I can't speak for the PS3 version, but I know some were saying it looked like shit graphically. Well it certainly does not on the PC.

wait, wat? DId i just imagine setting the resolution 2560 x 1440?

You must have. I was able to play higher than that with the first game, but the demo doesn't go beyond 1080p for me either.

It's not locked at 1080p, it allows you to use your desktop res whatever it may be.

Downsampling wasn't working, and I don't have issues with other games.
