Yeah I own LoS1 on PC and LoS2 runs pretty much the same. For some reason, the framerate dips to 35/40ish during the cutscenes but then pops right back to a steady 60fps for gameplay. I have a i7 2600k, 8gb ram and GTX660 running at 1080p.

Awesome good to hear, these match my specs fairly closely.

Got some bad news for you guys about the PSN demo.

PS4 controller won't work! I mean...it works but the analog sticks don't so you can't use it. Sucks. Using the PS3 controller's triggers for dodges and blocks (or...anything really) doesn't feel good.

Also I'm going to venture a guess that this is sub-720p. Image quality doesn't seem great.

Demo defaulted to 720p for me,maybe because of my 560Ti but I raised it up to 1080p with no problems...hated the climbing parts so much but liked everything else...not day one anymore because of this, will wait to see if there is a lot of that kind of climbing before buying.

Damn this platforming in my Castlevania games...

Yes there will be lots of climbing and jumping around.

The platforming in this demo is far better than any of the platforming in the 20 or so hours of the original game and it is just the tutorial. I take that as a good sign.

Also it is only in the tutorial that you get unlimited use of the sword and claws. They run off of meters that function the same as the magic meters in the original game.

Finally the steam version is $40.50 at greenman gaming with this code:YOGCST-BESTYT-EVERRR

Someone needs to gif this.

Edit: This was at max graphics.. motion blur in action.

Fucking loved the demo and can't wait for the full game. Of course at the end of the demo where it cuts off I was getting ready to kick ass but ah well. Launch day here I come! (provided I have the funds)

Oh really? I quite liked the way they work in the demo. Makes sense lore wise. He's Dracula. Why wouldn't he have almost unlimited power? Not a deal breaker though, i'm sure its for gameplay balancing purposes.

Physical. Meaning it bumps into everything.

Just finished the demo on PS3 and confirmed that I'm going to wait on a price drop.

I thought the camera was perfect. Having the 'camera help' ticked in the options seemed to help alot. Most of the time I didn't need to swing it around with the right stick, it would automatically keep up.

Thanks.

Theif and LOS 2, GMG is pretty baller.

The game runs at 120 fps so easily, very nice. Any reasons why cutscenes seem to be so taxing even though they are only perspective changes? Are they purposefully cutting the frame rate?

Sounds like a neat option, but I can't seem to find it. Playing on PS3, btw.

Combat seems excellent.

Have a feeling the technology theme will bug me. I really liked the fantasy style of the first game. :(

Yeah the same happens to me.

Based on your specs, it seems like an intentional decision. I hope it's not in the final. The direct difference between 30 and 60 is especially jarring in a game like this.

Anyone try the option 'Do not play with QTEs' selected in the options menu ? Only noticed it after playing the demo and haven't tried it again. If it removes all the QTEs in the game I might use it in the full game.

Just did it and the bloodsucking QTEs are gone. (Thank Christ) update in a second to see if the platforming QTEs are gone.

Edit:

Gone. ;)

What an awful and boring demo.

Boring arena battle at the beginnig? Check
One minute climbing just because? Check
Boring and long boss fight? Check
Dialogue? Uh...it's a demo but...uh
Camera problems? Check

I'm not conviced. Nice graphics though.

The reviewer complaining about hit stun must not know that you can press "A" to recover... or that parrying is pretty.

Game seems pretty solid to me, and the GMG price is about to make me sink my teeth into this one.

Stupid Xbox button prompts....
I wish they'd let me change the damn graphics settings before starting the cutscene... also, is the game limited to 1080p max only for the demo or is that how the final game is going to be?

I cant remember, but did the PC release of the original Lords of Shadow give you the option to disable QTE's?

It turns them into Darksider QTE's where you just press a button and it plays the whole kill animation.

just tested here. It's the DoF. changed it to medium, and the fps dip is gone. The cutscenes are still more demanding than gameplay, though. 30-40% GPU usage difference.

Demo was fun but was annoyed by the amount of handholding. Seriously there is a cutscene for rivets, then another cutscene for rivets, then a cutscene of glowing door that the rivets were holding down, then a third cutscene for rivets, and finally another cutscene of glowing door with rivets. Fuck. I really hope the rest of the game isn't like that because it really broke the flow of the game for me. I suck at taking screenshots but heres an album of them.

so how's the camera?

Totally fine when walking around, still kind of jerky and nauseating during some platform sequences. During the action it seems to keep enemies in view. I didn't have to wrestle with it during combat, but all the combat was basically taking place on rectangular planes with the camera at mid-distance.

Hopefully it's just a tutorial type thing.

Excellent, thanks folks :) I know what option is getting selected in the full game then.

Ah, I thought they pre-rendered the cutscenes at 24fps or something because they all performed like garbage compared to gameplay. Guess I'll have to turn down DoF. Thanks for testing.

Uh, are the cutscenes limited to 30 fps on PC for some reason? In game runs at 60 fps for me but the cutscenes never go above 30. As a result, I'm forced to immediately skip every cutscene so that I'm not subjected to the horror that is 30 fps. Can't be due to VSYNC either cuz I'm forcing triple buffering with D3DOverrider
