"New wave of abusive playstation fans this weekend mad about titanfall of all things."

Gies is an idiot.

Also you have to be able to grab and climb on everything, so they can't skimp on detail like the sides of buildings, and rooftops.

There was this great video I watched years ago on inFAMOUS 1, and they were displaying the calculations overlay that they had to program to make sure that Cole could actually climb on every surface he was supposed to climb on in the game. Hundreds of buildings, thousands of little handholds, poles, wires, windowsills, etc, etc. It was fascinating. And absurdly complex, and they were talking about all the bugs and glitches that kept happening when a calculation would misfire. I don't know if you've ever seen the bug in inFAMOUS 1 where Cole's arms will get super long, as he is attached to something very high above him, but his body is much, much lower. Looks like Mr. Fantastic. Lol.

Second Son is 50% larger than New Marais, and judging from these screenshots, it's also packed with tons more buildings. I think people are selling Sucker Punch and Second Son short, but you can't take away that the game was made by 80 people compared to Watch Dogs 500, and it's improved significantly over not only the previous entries in the series, but the early reveal of the title a year ago.

I've mentioned it a billion times before, but I saw the game live at E3 last year, demonstrated on a 55-60" HDTV by Sucker Punch devs, and it looked fucking incredible, but these compressed screens look even better in terms of the detail, AA, particles, etc (the only thing the screenshots lack is that super crisp sharpness that you'll see on your actual set, but the Share button always muddies).

80 people made this game. 80 people. Sucker Punch should be fucking proud.

Game looks great, but how has gameplay improved from original game? Honest question. I got tired of infamous after halfway through. Challenges were all repetitive.

I love that even though these screens are unbelievably good looking, that there's a dynamic element to a lot of it that we can't see through the shots. Like the way puddles of water evaporate over time, for example.

They really should be proud of what they achieved here. In the span of only a few months after PS4 launched, they have a game out that is one of the most beautiful open world titles ever developed. It's the perfect game to showcase how bright the future is from a visual perspective, and put to rest for yet one more generation the diminishing returns argument. Because good goddamn at these screenshots.

Edit: Oh god Tim Dog just started following me on twitter, it's a sign of the apoclaypse @_@

If you really need an answer before the game is officially out, check the spoiler thread or the OT for little nuggets about gameplay. This may not be the right thread for it :)

Trying to get some more action shots.

Obviously Infamous is way sharper with being native 1080p, but I honestly think its visuals are beaten out by GTA 5.

Guys, it's obvious this guy played the PC version. It's the only way to explain it!

even the stormy cloud looks gorgeous, the clouds seem so thick and lush *swoon*

quick someone take the ugliest shot they can in inFamous: Second Son!

Depth of Field. Its where shit in the background looks blurry and out of focus like in some photographs, basically.

I'd like to see some uncompressed screens. I think its obviously quite good looking, but the compression hurts most of the screens being posted.

Thanks for the explanation good sir.

So what do you guys think the bigger jump was, GTA San Andreas to GTAV or Infamous 2 to Infamous SS?.
For me it was the jump from San Andreas to GTAV. People always seem to forget just how primitive the older GTA games actually were and the difference when compared to GTAV looks imo bigger than one generation jump.

Having said all that, Infamous SS is one of if not the best looking open world game i have ever seen!, just amazing.

gta no doubt. san andreas looks complete crap in comparison to gta v or even gta iv but infamous 2 holds up quite well to second sons. i like the new art directions a lot better though and everything just seems to be super cool.

Daamn that looks good. Looking forward to hopefully getting a PS4 tomorrow as long as the Gamestop near me doesn't sell out in the next few hours or so.

I'm not sure the comparison is one that should be made given that GTA V was the second GTA game launched that generation and neither were within 6 months of the consoles release.

Should there be another Infamous released towards the end of the PS4's lifecycle it can then be compared to IF2 and against the GTA graphical upgrades.

What I will say is that as sequels on the same platform go IF2 is the biggest graphical upgrade over it's predecessor I've seen on the PS3. That's partially because the first Infamous was a little underwhelming but IF2 was legitimately gorgeous at times.
