Given Nintendo's success, do you think Sony might take note and focus on exclusives again?

Because Apple and their arrogant decisions. But. Sony wouldn't be stupid to piss Epic off. Also. I bet more people play Fortnite on PS than on IPhone.

Tim wants EGS on everything. I wouldn't be surprised at all if sued Sony to try to get it done, as he did with Apple who has a much, much larger install base than PS.

Yeah, but Apple doesn't have this guy…

Installbase doesn't tell the whole story
Consoles (and it's mostly PS) is 60% of Fortnite revenue
Those who pay prefer to play/pay on a bigger screen. It's common for many mobile/PC/consoles games even though mobile installbase significantly higher

And Tim is not stupid, he avoided clashing with Sony in Apple case stating that PS situation is different. He probably get a really good terms from Sony (unlike Apple position) and doesn't want to sour relationship over EGS which will be in tough position on PS anyway.

These same guys 10 years ago would've called you crazy for saying God of War and Uncharted would be on Steam. It's stupid to think things will just continue as they are now forever. The point is Sony has control of 0 of the biggest games on their platform and as time goes on there is nothing keeping them there. Epic is unpredictable and litigious. Streaming will get better as internet infrastructure gets better over time. If you want to play GTA7 you need our smart TV app or PC launcher. Who knows.

My personal conspiracy theory is MS and Sony have had some sort of "peace deal" with Microsoft when Sony signed that 10 year COD deal.

The progression of events since that happened and the new-found coziness between the two megacorps cannot be a coincidence tbh.

My guess is Microsoft wants to focus on Valve and their threat to Windows adoption now and have decided that the fight with Sony is getting more difficult with less reward.

Could be, but if MS found Sony to be a difficult nut to crack, they've got no hope against Steam.

They have more tools against Steam than they do vs PS. Even getting like %20 of the pie over there would be worth it because they don't have to lose their shirt to get it.

Carving out a space on PC is just much more suited to their assets (creating software and services and scaling them) vs consoles (having to make a distribution network, marketing, retail execution etc).

"The other is made by a third party".

You're an idiot. Helldivers is fully funded and published by Sony. The game wouldn't exist without them. They own the IP, and they paid to make it. So it's their property.
but they cannot create another since they will never own the studio - helldivers is way more daring than any owned sony studio would or could do imo

Astro Bot hasn't even crossed 3M sales yet. You anime deeebs keep saying "sOnY oNlY mAkEs iNtErAcTiVe mOViEs". But those are the type of games that their fans want.
No, those are just the games that Sony aggressively pushes with massive marketing campaigns, spending tens of millions to make sure people buy them. In contrast, I didn't see a single ad for Astro Bot.

I mean Microsoft has been making Halo games long after Bungie left lol.

Whether quality is maintained is a separate debate, but the Helldivers franchise can persist without Arrowhead specifically being involved.
