How to use your PS4 controller as a PC controller

How do you get that one to work, I tried it but couldnt work it out. The instructions arent clear, install something from this other place, when I do that takes over full control, and doesnt work with DSwindows at all.

I used DS4Tool prior to using DSWindows, so I had all the prerequisite software installed. It is just a branch with mostly the same base code.

Can you connect directly to USB or do you have to go BT?

USB works as well.

I decided to go with the DS4 for my new controller since I'm tired of investing in 360 controllers (I've had two break from wear I guess), and I am very pleased to see how great it's working for me so far. I installed DS4Tool and had everything going in less than a minute. I checked the "Hide my DS4 option" in the drivers and I've had zero issues so far. I should mention that I am using wired and have not tried wireless yet. I'm impressed. Hopefully I won't run into any issues in the future. I've been leaving the tool running in the background and I can literally just plug the controller in at anytime (even after starting a game) and it just works.

Would be great if Sony put out some official drivers in the future. The DS4 feels great to play with.

ds4tool seems to mess with chrome and opera tooltips (they don't show up). Dunno why but it's pretty strange. ds4windows doesn't have this problem however.

Got my DS4 working with the SCP Drivers I was using with my DS3, as well as DS4Windows, which appears to work well and not be too buggy.

One question though, how much does the lightbar effect battery life? I think it's cool that I can set it to be bright blue at full charge and then it'll gradually become dimmer or a different colour as the battery drains. If the battery drain is significant I'll probably just have it off entirely and use DS4Windows to check the battery percentage.

The battery life is fucking garbage, that's my only complaint.

I know if you turn the lightbar off, the battery is way better, but I can't seem to figure out a way to do that.

In DS4Windows you can turn all the RGB sliders to zero to turn the light off.

So I'm trying to get my controller set up wirelessly on my pc and it's not working. I am able to pair the controller, the led stays on a solid white, I can control steam perfectly in BPM, but when I launch any game no buttons work. I go to the settings before launching steam to test out the buttons and it's showing feedback.

So after trying to pair my Wii U pro controller(couldnt get toshiba bluetooth stack installed)
and my DS3 controller(motioninjoy wouldn't recognize my bluetooth), i was thinking about getting a DS4 to play via bluetooth. I have a GA-Z87N-WIFI with internal bluetooth. Will i have any problems pairing this up?

I'm really hoping it'll be easier to use my Wii U Pro Controller w PC (the bluetooth stack is just :/)

and man Sony please consider official driver support - you got such a wonderful controller there

Hey guys, sorry if this has come up already but, can you use the bluetooth adapter that comes with the gold wireless headset to pair a dualshock 4 with your pc wirelessly?

I've gotten my DS4 to worked wired on my PC, but it will not pair over bluetooth. I put the DS4 into pairing mode, and the controller shows up in the window, I select next to pair, but then it just times out for an unknown error. Anyone run into this? I'm using a Broadcom 2046 2.1+EDR dongle on Win7 x64

I see that the original developer of the tool stopped development. Is there someone who got the headphone jack to work on the PC?

My current 360 controller is dying and wondering if the DS4 is a good replacement? Is it supported like the Xbox one especially since supposedly the xbone controller drivers were just released?

I replaced my Xbox controller with it, having the touchpad as a mouse sold it for me as I'm connected to a TV. Only drawback is the horrible battery life

And yea it mirrors the 360 controller in games, haven't had a single incompatibility issue yet

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
Anyone using a PS4 controller with DmC on PC? It works fine but the button prompts show as generic controller buttons (1,2, etc) instead of 360 buttons. Anyone know how to fix? I tried clicking Hide PS4 controller in the options.

Is there any chance developers will support the DS4 on PC? I bought a xbone controller for PC but I returned it. Just didn't feel right.

Use DS4Windows by J2K

you can read more about the development here
http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-DS4Windows-yet-another-DualShock-4-driver?page=111

EDIT: Please note that J2K's version is a fork of DS4Windows - he uses the same thread (as Nabs in posts below)
Please ensure you download the J2K fork from J2K (or Jay2Kings) forum signature link - and not the one in the opening post - that's not the one I'm using.

- supports profiles (so even for games that do not have controller support, you can map them to work and save it as a profile)
- supports multiple controller (for that local multiplayer fun)
- supports DS4 lightbar (you can turn it off or set it to glow a different color with different profiles)
- supports the touchpad (pretty nifty)
- supports shift-key modifier (now you can make any button behave like a Shift key to add even more functionality! imagine this - Press the Share Button once and then the Square button to screenshot or Triangle button to stream/save video)

:D

This is the one for sure. I've had zero issues with my DS4 since I started using it and now I can't go back to using a 360 controller on PC. The d-pad on the DS4 is just so good!

I've been using the wrapper from scarlet crush and had a lot of issues trying to get the controller to re-sync with my PC after using it on the ps4. I'm hoping this new one solves this. Can anyone confirm that?

I've been using this for a while now, and it's been amazing. Being able to swap between profiles with a simple two finger swipe feels great. Disabling the touchpad by placing my finger on the touchpad and clicking the guide button is also a great touch.

The shift modifier is a game changer. I am using the touchpad (no click) one, and have my shadowplay controls mapped to the facebuttons. So when I place a finger on my touchpad, I have a controller full of possible shortcuts. This controller profile also features push-to-talk on the right touchpad buttons, and screenshot on the other. When I want full mouse controls, I just two finger swipe to another profile. All color coded by the way.

I want to try this one out, but it says that I need to download official Microsoft Xbox 360 Accessories Software first. There seems to be no such software for Windows 8. Should I install the Windows 7 64bit software or is this not necessary on Windows 8?

Edit: also the one you linked to isn't the same as the one in the thread you posted?

J2K's version is a fork of DS4Windows, so he uses that thread as his home. I do think that a new thread would be a lot less confusing.

I see, thanks! So I don't need to follow the steps in the first post? The rar file also includes two files "ds4updater.exe" and "ds4windows.exe", which one do I run first and what do they do?

Just run ds4windows.exe. I think it will give you a prompt with installation info for first timers. ds4updater.exe is just there if you want to check for updates and install 'em.

+I'm trying to play street fighter but it's detecting the controller as a keyboard. How do I make it think its an Xbox controller?

I don't know why it thinks it's a keyboard, but make sure you have "Hide DS4 Controller" checked off in the settings.

Great!

I appreciate your help nabs. It still thinks it's a keyboard. I hid PS4 controller as well. I'm using the default profile. Are there any drivers I may be missing? I'm using windows 8.1.

Okay, it says I can't run exclusive mode with steam running on the back ground. It's closed so i wonder what other program may be causing this.

Is there a way to get both my DS4 and DS3 to work within the same game or a program that allows you to use both DS3 and DS4 controllers? If this was already asked an answered just link me to the post.

I had a wired xbox controller but it broke and I've tried various programs even uninstalling and reinstalling different progams. I can get them both working (using different programs), but both controllers are detected as player 1 when I finally do get it to work.
