Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

Haha I love how everyone is making a big deal out of this. How about playing games for the gameplay and the fun? You know, like everyone else does and how its always been before this generation

I'm sorry, but i'm confused. We hate EA for some reason (always online or something), we hate ubisoft because their games are unoptimized or all the same or something and we hate activision because of cod. Who do we like?

First party developers who design games for a single console. Thats who.

I'm not a tech-head, but can someone please clarify to me why these new consoles aren't able to handle recent, even older games at 1080p and 60fps? Or in this case, even 1080p @ 30fps? Is it because of hardware limitation or because of the developer? If the PS4 can't run this game or Tomb Raider in 1080p and 60fps... I dunno, it just feels to me like both consoles aren't as "good" as they've been touted. The PS4 does have good architecture from what I know, but I fail to see why it can't run a game like this or the aforementioned Tomb Raider better than it does.

I'm assuming many factors are at play here and I apologize in advance for any possible ill-informed comments that I may have just made, it just seems a little weird to me that the PS4 for example is struggling to run recent games at optimal settings. I'm asking because it seems like I should be lowering my expectations and standards from these consoles.
The average last-gen "AAA" title ran with bad IQ at 1280x720 and 30 FPS (hopefully). Now, you want 1920x1080 at 60 FPS. That's 4.5 times as many rendered pixels. However, people also want better IQ, better graphical effects, better lighting, and more detailed assets in their "next gen" games. But if you make each pixel just 4 times more expensive to render (which isn't really all that much) the new consoles would already have to be 18 times more powerful than the previous ones to maintain 1080p60. They aren't, not by a long shot.

I am actually surprised by the number of people whose purchase intent seems based on things like resolution as much as the quality of the game itself. I'd expect this sort of reaction in a review thread, not so much a resolution announcement.

People here are insane. 720p and 30 is more than good enough.

eh. ~Guess I'm going PC with htis one. Hope it doesn't have the strange vsync issues that Black Flag had. ORiginally had hoped to go PS4, but I reckon my specs will pull more than 900/30 at least.

I wish I could play the PC version...The recommended specs for Watch Dogs is ridiculous, which is why I wasn't expecting the whole 60 FPS thing on PS4...

I'm surprised it's not 1080P though, but oh well..

900p vs 792p? The gap is shrinking guys!

Amazing.

This is very disappointing to me. AC4 being only 900p on my 60" ST60 was very noticeable on release and the jump to 1080p in the patch was quite significant. Maybe it's not as noticeable on smaller TVs, but on something that big it's always obvious when it's not running at native 1080p. This is some pretty sad stuff from Ubisoft, especially considering the "quality" of recent trailers of the game.

Hopefully this is temporary and they can patch in a higher resolution and better optimization like in AC4, but I have serious doubts about that for this game.

The amount of stories and twist the past 2 years about this game is incredible. What a ride ! Can't wait for the reviews.

Hey look the resolution is less.

This really ruins the game for me and I am now out. I will put my money elsewhere, because I can tell the difference between 1080p and 900p and it really bothers me.

I am out.

I'm taking a wild guess that you aren't buying Mario Kart 8.

Holy shit, that's weak. I was completely expecting 1080p and 900p.

I'm still picking up the game, because it's not the resolution that's going to define how fun the game is, but for something that was introduced was the "next gen visual showcase" a couple years back, it sure is disappointing.

A lower than expected resolution doesnt deter me from a game. Still buying. Im sure I'll like it. Been needin an open world checklist Ubi experience for awhile.

So basically, PS360 gen should have started in 2008, this gen should've started in 2015. Buckle up for another half-step hardware gen.

This.

I mean, if you have a PC that is powerful enough to run this game better then more power to ya, and I understand the comparison between the two consoles when the one that runs it at a lower res is still more expensive and you're better off getting the PS4 version if you have both consoles, or if you have neither console you're better off buying a PS4 due to its superior performance.. But to skip a game altogether just because it doesn't hit 1080p on either console is beyond the pale IMO.

I don't think it's so much the framerate itself but the lies and the huge downgrading of the game itself. People don't take kindly to being lied to.

They are never going to live the downgrade malarky down now. Which is fair enough I suppose. Infamous looks a good deal more impressive and runs at a higher frame rate...

What exactly does WD do to push the limits so much they can't hit Full HD 30fps? Cause I don't think I have seen anything THAT impressive for a single player game.

I'm not defending it, or saying I believe the following, especially because this is not a next gen game and it is limited by 256/256mb ram of playstation3, but...

Supposedly, there are an unprecedented number of systems at play that combine to make emergent gameplay, a truly interactive world if you will. The delay was to help refine that. So it isn't the graphics that limit things, it is the world.

Like I said though, this is a last gen game so I think it is bullshit, still hopeful though.

You mean all the nick picking between the ps3 and 360 multiplatforms?

Websites and forums pickin 'definitive' versions of multiplats to get?

At least it seems they didn't go for parity, which is good. Still, 900p means it's not day 1 for me. I let BF4 slide since that was a launch game, Watch Dogs has no excuses. Time head over to Best Buy and cancel it, will wait for reviews.
