The only other PS4 game that is not 1080p is BF4 and that targets 60FPS. I would buy this game for my PC as I have a GTX780, but Ubi games on PC are terrible generally so I'm not sure.

FFXIV isn't a technically demanding game, even on the PC. It's very well optimized.

It all boils down to the company optimizing their game on the system they are working on.

They probably did have it running at 1080p but with really bad frame-rate. So maybe they compromised a balance between the two and here we are at 900p/30fps

They did. If this game is running 30fps on PS3/360/WiiU at near 720p, that just shows me Ubisoft doesn't have a clue on how to optimize.
