Ubisoft: Watch_Dogs will run at 900p on PS4 and 792p on XB1, both at 30fps

900p and only 30 fps. It's disappointing.

I'm tempted to cancel my preorder on PS4 to buy the PC version but I got a very good discount.

Happily playing on PC.

I just want to know what happened to all those people last year about this time that were trying to convince everybody that Xb1 and PS4 had secret fairy sauce that was going to make them outperform a mid to high end PC given that the specs were dramatically inferior.

This is embarrassing for both console, i don't know who is to blame, Ubi or the hardware?

The game is far from impressive so i really don't get it, if i was told it is 900P i would have guessed it's because they went with 60 FPS, but this is the first (i guess of many) 900P/30 FPS game on the PS4 :(

This gen is really gonna suck technically if this is what we get in it's first year with such an unimpressive game and a very easy hardware to work on, so disappointing.

I think this more of a cross gen dev issue.

lol

I find this to be hilarious after the 1080p/60fps image that garnered a 1,000+ post thread.

Can't say I'm surprised, but that 720p/30fps on the bone is fucking awful. The only other game like that is Dead Rising, right? And the PS4 performance is equally disappointing. (relative to expectations)

Hoping later open world games like Division can at least squeak out 900p.

This is why I'm just sticking to exclusives on the PS4.

And no, I will not buy Watch_Dogs on the PS4 as a result of it's substandard resolution.

These developers need to be taught a lesson. Nothing is more important than native resolution. Anything below 1080p is a blurry mess.

However, if it is a good game, I may consider getting it on the PC however I'm not sure if my 6950 is good enough anymore.

God... this gen is fucked

Canceled my pre-order as well. Baffling that a game that looks worse than Infamous Second Son by a large amount runs at a lower framerate and resolution with a much larger dev team and more development time. I'll be playing this when I get it for free with the GTX 780 I've been planning to buy.

This really isn't a big deal. It's an ambitious title early in the next generation, launching on 5 platforms simultaneously. Just buy it if you're interested in it. Also 900p for an open world game is pretty great, just stay north of 720p is all I'm asking for. There will be tons of 1080p games this generation, let's not be jaded.

I kinda just feel like this is a problem specific to Ubisoft. Theres no denying that these consoles are not as powerful as they could be. But I've Infamous Second Son and MGS Ground Zeros on my PS4 and they look great. Im also salty over Assassins creed Black Flag, and how they treated PC gamers. Black Flag was not optimized the way it should have been, and Ubisofts answer was to "Just buy a new GPU."

And I here I thought I was about to give Ubi kudos for actually optimizing their open-world games...

While 1080p60 sounded amazing, it was simply too good to be true. Ubi's never been keen on those kinds of details. This sounds a lot more like them.

How the Hell can FFXIV run at 1080p/ 30FPS with all sorts of particle-effects, latency calls and whatever other technological hurtles online games have and none of these shitastic "next-gen" games can?

Unbelievable. And inexcusable.

There are systems upon systems in a game like Watch Dogs, the only thing it has in common is that they're both video games. It's totally understandable that it would require some concessions in resolution and framerate.

They announced it at 1080p though

It was announced and discussed as 1080p, and we knew it was going to be released at 900p with a day one patch to make it 1080p shortly before release.

I don't think they would have stated 900p in this Watch Dogs blog post so close to release if they were intending to patch it to a higher resolution.

One game doesn't mean that many games will be 900p on PS4. The vast majority will be 1080p.

Come on people. Is it disappointing? Yes absolutely but the idea that people are cancelling over resolution?

Also the people who thought it was even POSSIBLE for this to be 1080p/60 FPS are beyond help. There was no precedent for that at all.

lol, from 1080p and 60fps to 900p and 30fps?

would be pissed, if I was interested in WD.
and a console game of course.

Maybe it's because I played more Wii than PS3 last gen (and I'm used to a visual downgrade), but who really cares so long as the game is fun?

Give me:
price of PC that can run this game at 1080p & 60fps.
price of PC that can run this game at 1080p & 30 fps.
price of PC that can run this game at 900p & 60fps.
price of PC that can run this game at 900p & 30fps.

Thank you.

I don't understand it. Child of Light is also an Ubisoft title and that hit 1080p on PS4.

Maybe the Watch Dogs team should get some technical fellows from CoL to help out with the pixels.

It's funny, but nothing to freak out over.

For anyone thinking they'll do better on PC, remember they already released the specs for Ultra and I doubt most of us could handle it.

So you were basically buying the game for the graphics? I can't imagine how crap and boring it must be basing a game purchase on graphics.

It wasn't the only reason, but as a Chicago native, I was looking forward to a high fidelity recreation of my city. Knowing that it graphically has been downgraded on numerous occasions, won't match the resolution of my relatively new TV, and hasn't made a strong case for itself the the gameplay department are all contributing to my feeling that I ought to cancel the pre-order. Does that bother you terribly?

Then again, maybe I'm just "crap and boring."

To me it doesn't look ambitious at all, I'm more impressed with GTAV on PS3 than WD on PS4. inFamous looks so much better than WD and that is a 1080p game.

Wow. My hype for this game has steadily decreased monthly over the past year. What the hell have you done, Ubisoft? You over promised and under delivered. This is how you piss fans off. Thanks but no thanks

I'm ok with 900p if superior framerate is achieved as a benefit. This is just wrong unless the game really, really looks like the original reveal version.

so Infamous is the benchmark to beat in an open world game then......and will probably be for a long time.

Can't believe they are not pushing 1080p on Watch Dogs......hopefully the gameplay makes up for it then

Not until they fix their awful shadow draw distance. Seriously, how can people consider this game a technical marvel when its drawing shadows like 10 cm from where you are standing.

Well, this pretty much decides it for me. I'm gonna pick up a used BF4 and the new Wolfenstein instead.

(Also, from the new trailer, the whole game feels "Forced" to me.)
