GAFers with both the Xbox One and PS4...

Multiplats on PS4 when they perform better(usually). When it's a multiplat that's on par for both like an indie (Guacamelee) I get the Xbox version because I like the controller more. It's pretty much that for me, and of course exclusive for each.

Single Player, PS4. Multiplayer games? Xbox one.

I would have prefered to get them all on PS4, but my friends who play multiplayer all got XB1's. bit of a bummer, because out of the two, I do prefer the PS4, but if I want to play with my buddies, Xbone it is.

Usually only buy exclusives for XB1, but I have to buy the occasional MP game on XB1 because a lot of my friends have them. So will likely buy Destiny, NHL 15 and Evolve on XB1 or both.

Edit: Pretty much as above ^

Whatever the best version of a multiplatform game is, I'll get it there. I got 99.9% of all multiplatform games (and all games I purchased period last gen) on 360; the same will be true of PS4 this gen. Superior in every way, I just can't justify going for a shittier product.

So it's: exclusives on whatever platform they're on, multiplatform on the superior system technically.[/QUOTE]
This is me. Except that sometimes I also go for the PC version.

Friends are all on PC, so that isn't a factor for me, it usually depends on how well it runs on what machine, but price usually comes first. PC>PS4>X1 usually.

I'm probably in the minority, but I actually buy most of my stuff on XBO. I have more friends playing there, and am currently addicted to titanfall. so it's nice to be able to switch into that when I want to.

This is similar to how I felt. Forums and my friends engraved the message that the PS4 was the better choice because of the graphics so I changed my mind last minute and went PS4. I was always happy with the decision for the most part but still had this nagging feeling that the XB1 was what I really wanted. I finally picked up an XB1 a few weeks ago and I am so glad I did. I love the way this system feels. It just feels like a Next Gen system. And this graphical difference is really almost non existent. I have tried playing the same games on both and really can barely tell any difference. If anything it is just in my head because I know there is suppose to be some difference

NeoGaf had engraved this in my brain which made me return my launch Xb1 back in December for a PS4. I picked up BF4 for it was happy with, and loved knowing that whatever game I picked up was going to look the best it could look on a game console. Then the months went by and every other week I saw Microsoft was coming with real updates, adding features. So when they had the bundles on sale I jumped back in and had an XB1 and PS4 for about a month before I decided to trade my PS4 to GameStop. To me BF4 is the most next gen game out there. 64 players, destruction, vehicles the sound and atmosphere is incredible especially compared to COD. So when I got to play BF4 on XB1 and PS4 back to back I was socked. I was expecting this huge difference GAF was telling me about, but it just wasn't there. That made decision so simple for me to go all XB1. Gaming aside it just a better all around machine to me. I was just watching some Wimbledon tennis and got a Skype video call notificatios. It just does more.

I've had similar experiences. I had a PS4 and it was fine. I own an Xbox One, and while I'm happy with the system, the tough choice wasn't sacrificing specs, but in making the very difficult decision to let go of Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream. Frankly, most games are coming out multi platform, and I highly doubt that there's ANYTHING coming out in Microsoft's arsenal that is anywhere near what Naughty Dog is doing. I don't care about The Order, and Halo and Gears of War are what they are. However, giving up the opportunity to play the remastered: The Last of Us, or the upcoming Uncharted, is really what stings. The Xbox One is actually my system of choice. I prefer the GUI, I like how solid the system feels, and they've been updating the system regularly. IT feels fresh.

But man, I *really* want to play The Last of Us Remastered. No need to own both systems for me. None of my friends went Gen 7, and since MS has all but abandoned Kinect, my wife, nieces, and nephews are totally fine with Xbox 360.

PC - Exclusives and Multiplatform games
Xbox One - Exclusives, Local MP games to play with friends/party games
PS4 - Exclusives (and Destiny)

PS4 for everything cause I want the higher Res/FR
Xbox for exclusives and non-gaming entertainment

While at first I was in love with the x1 OS, It's slow compared to my 4. I use the Xbox for tv and movies as that's what it's better for. On the games side, they really don't have many indies picking up the dry spell and since I'm a SP gamer, I want the better of the 2. I like the DS4 more than the Xbox one controller (why doesn't this thing have a quick name) but I'm tempted to get RPGs on the Xbox cause I hate the DS4 battery life.

PS4 - Exclusives and multiplatform games (is a bit more powerful than my current PC)
Xbox One - Exclusives
Wii U - Exclusives (occasionally purchased multiplats on it if they were a superior version in the past, like Disney Infinity had some cool uses for the gamepad)
PC - Exclusives, multiplatform games if they go for a much better price than PS4/Xbox One

Will probably switch back to PC for most multiplatform games when I upgrade in a couple years.

My PS4 gets basically zero use in my house.

Why? It's an isolated experience, made for the gamers with pretty much no effort to be part of an every day family experience.

My wife uses the xb1 to:
- Play Xbox music
- Play Xbox fitness/just dance
- Stream "funny" vids/pics to the 55inch TV from her phone
- Watch netflix
- Browse the OneGuide on the smartglass app on her phone to find stuff to watch on TV.
-etc

The most important thing though is how easy it is to switch between the different types of entertainment.

This weekend we had some friends come round and my wife was excited to show them the funny just dance video compilations kinect made of us. I pulled out my phone to use as a controller, snapped what was on the TV, loaded up just dance and showed them the vids . We laughed, friends wife then had a go, we laughed some more, then we jumped straight back to TV.

The xb1 used to be in our bedroom and it was where we stayed all the time. We moved it into the lounge and now that's where we are all the time and even when we're in the bedroom, we don't even turn on the ps4.

The experience the xb1 gives with the combination of easy to access media with my family easily outweighs any kind of resolution difference I stopped caring about since I decided the HD5850 in my Pc games for me just fine.

I bought the ps4 a month after launch because the entire Internet was telling me it was the console to have but for me, it hasn't proven that to me yet.

Neither console has any big blockbusters I'm, but the fact that the xb1 doesn't rely so heavily on gaming means that I actuality use it whenever I want to do anything on my TV.

Basically this.

WiiU+PS4 only exclusives
everything else XB1 (since I got hooked on achievements last gen and all my friends have xbones, so I can chat with them even if I play sp)
PC only exclusives (which is mostly some indies for me)

Your post history, lack of trophies and empty profile under your claimed PSN ID make me dubious of your claims.

Let's be honest, we could probably go through a lot of post histories in this thread and easily pick what console said user was gonna support. Let's not just single out one person here...

So far i'm pretty much everything PS4 and just exclusives on the Xbox 1.

This will change in the winter with Halo/Forza/Sunset-overdrive dropping though.

I'm already buying Destiny on both and will probably spend most of my time on the X1 due to more friends and liking the controller more. Me and some friends are already planning on getting COD, Diablo,NHL on the X1, so I might just make the switch back to xbox.

Time will tell... I'm kinda addicted to trophies now :)

Best version.

With me it's PS4 since I had the ps3 most of last gen (trade 360 in after I played the shit out of cod4) so ive been mainly sony and have most of my friends on that system. For xbox one anything that needs "motion" /exclusives and anything that's in a gold sale or double dipped to play with most of my friends ie bf4

I have both, though I got the X1 only since I realised I have 2 iPod touches nobody uses, so figured better to trade them in now before the new ones come out and price lowers further.

Honestly... I sorta regret it. I'm sure I'll LOVE it when Halo and maybe Sunset Overdrive come to it, but atm, not much keeps me on it, had it off for a long while.

Out of which games to buy for which system, simple.
If it's a multi plat (it'll most likely be better on PS4), Get it on PS4.

Obviously exclusives for whatever system it's on.

Some say multiplayer focused games on X1, but I don't really agree, PS4 is pretty much on par if not better than live. That and since PS4 has the higher numbers, it'll probably have the bigger community, but if friends are a factor here, then probably makes sense to get for X1 if it's a game where it's much more enjoyable with friends.

Hear the controller debate a lot too, but don't really get it. They're both fantastic controllers really, I'm not playing on DS4/X1 controller and finding I miss the other, they're both awesome. (Though I would like a better material for the DS4 sticks), but if you really feel that strongly about it, then I guess decide on a game by game basis on whether the controller is more worth it than the performance.

X1 is just going to be an eXclusive Box for me and I'm fine with that really (and whatever Games for Gold gives me). Exclusive content could push me more to the X1 side but I doubt it, it'd have to be the best exclusive dlc ever to make me give up better performance for.

I find it extremely simple.
Exclusives - whatever console it's for
Third party - PS4

It helps not having an emotional attachment to trophies/gamer score

Wii U: Family games, 1st & 3rd party exclusives;
Xbox One 1st party exclusive, 3rd party exclusives, 3rd party non-exclusives but with exclusive/timed-exclusive contents and the graphics/performance on par as PS4 versions;
PS4: 1st & 3rd party exclusive and 3rd party non-exclusives but with exclusive/timed-exclusive contents and the graphics/performance superb comparing to XB1 version.

In fact, it is not so difficult to choose the platform.

PS4 Single player/Destiny/Exclusives

Xbox Exclusives/multiplayer/

Wii U - all first party games....

PC Wildstar and indie games.

PS4 for multiplats and exclusives
XB1 for exclusives and games I got for free on Games with Gold
WiiU "exclusively for exclusives"

That said, the PS3 is STILL my most played system, since my backlog is HUGE.

Your post history, lack of trophies and empty profile under your claimed PSN ID make me dubious of your claims.
That's because I made a new profile for Ps4 and never used it. My old one is GrizMan and I've had it since the launch of PS3. If you dig a little deeper, you'd see that my Xbox tag only existed since the launch of MW2 when I bought a 360 for the first time.

The fact that you needed to dig as hard as you did is kind of hilarious though.

It's not even like what I posted is implausible.

I value the fact that the xb1 provides easily accessible forms of entertainment that my family uses every day, while the ps4 does not, therefore I use the xb1 way more and I feel like buying multi plat on xb1 instead of ps4 for that reason, despite any visual disparity that I already stated I stopped caring about since the moment I decided that I can't justify upgrading the amd HD5850 in my pc gaming rig.

No seriously, it IS actually possible for people to prefer the xb1.

I own all of the systems. I always favored my 360 over my PS3. But now it's flipped for me. I favor my PS4 over my Xbox One.

Go for PS4 first. You won't be disappointed.

But get both, along with a Wii U. So there's no console exclusive game you can't play. Fuck console wars. Be greedy!

MP I go with XB1 since all the people I play with are on that system, I got the PS4 for all the exclusives that I have to have.

Friends > Strangers.

This is a bad argument. I reckon the majority of anyone's friend list would be strangers who have become friends. Even then, they are just strangers who you have chosen to stay connected to. And having substantially more users on one system means multiplayer games will have higher player counts.

Do people that "let their system sit for a month" not have Gold/PS+?

With the free games every month, are they simply ignoring them on purpose?

No seriously, it IS actually possible for people to prefer the xb1.

The one recurring theme amongst people I personally know who prefer Xbone is that they are actually using the TV/"all in one entertainment system" functionality of the system as opposed to PS4 players, who primarily use it to just play games on.

Nothing wrong with that, just an observation.

I personally have an issue because while I prefer the PS4 by a wide margin, my kids' friends are getting Xbones. I have this fall's slate of games preordered for PS4, and I am probably going to have to change over the majority of them just so my kids can play with their friends online. This is deeply annoying, but the alternative is them asking for second copies of the same games for Christmas, so...

I own all three, but put the Xbone into my livingroom. I felt the Xbone would be a good system to have out there due to its ability to switch from one function to another with just a voice command. The issue with the inconsistency of the Kinect annoyed my wife and I finally moved it into another room. It being on my main TV limited my game playing time as well because I have little kids and Dead Rising 3 was not really kid friendly.

Both systems are in on room but I play my Xbone a lot more than my PS4. I'm ashamed to admit it, but the main reason I play my Xbone is for achievements. I want to reach the 75,000 tier and, hopefully, be done with them forever.

In all I just love game, glad I could afford all three systems. I just hate the days where I want to play a game and can't decide what to play and just end up browsing GAF. HaHa

Once I get my XB1, I'm going to buy all my multiplats on that and reserve the ps4 for exclusives.

Why?

  • XBL > PS Online (in my opinion)
  • Graphics aren't a huge deal for me
  • Multitasking features
  • I like the Xbox ecosystem better -- feels more homey

I usually buy the games on the console that is the most quiet. Which for now is the xbox one. I sit right by them as I game on a computer monitor and my room isn't huge. I only get games on PS4 that all my friends are getting on ps4. Right now the only game I know everybody is getting is Destiny so that game will be my only ps4 game this year , everything else is on xbox one.

Most of the people i play with are on X1 so there's that, it just feels more friendly and i tend to buy everything on it

On PS4 i get exclusives and SP heavy games (DA: Inquisition for example) since i have it in the bedroom and it's just easier to get time for these kind of games

WiiU for the exclusives only

I mostly buy exclusives for either PS4 or Xbox One and Multi-platform on PC. But If I had a choice between the two consoles for multi-platform titles, I would go with PS4 over Xbox due to most titles having 1080p/60fps over Xbox One's 720p to 900p. See Watch Dogs and Metal Gear Solid V for example.

Those with both does the value of Plus versus Gold or vice versa play a factor at all? I could see that playing a big role if I owned both, because I likely wouldn't pay for both.

Buy multiplats on PC or PS4, except for the EA sports stuff, usually pick that up on the XB1 because that's where sports friends are most of the time.

Xbox one and wii u: exclusives
PS4: everything else

Thud

Previous gens i have bought multiplatform on xbox systems simply because they performed better. This gen ps4 is the framerate-king and for me the obvious choice for every third party

The fact that you need to look that up just because he said that he prefers the xb1 speaks volumes

Well, I can't help it when this is your new profile's description -_-:

Either I got messed with or someone already registered that ID.

Xbox one and wii u: exclusives
PS4: everything else

Same here!

I also have decent PC (i5 2500K and 660ti), but friends play on PS4 mostly. So some single player only games that I'm mildly interested in I pick up on Steam sales later....

I have a PC.... And did have xbone for while and my PS4 might get returned too. There is just no games if you have good PC to really pull you over. Mulitplatforms most of the time on PC are better and there is a lot indie/ mods that end up being a lot better than most games will for the consoles in the end. My most played games of late are PC only like Firefall, NeoTokyo standlone source mod and Blade Symphony.

All of those are and only are on PC. Desinty.... Nah I got Firefall. Neo Tokyo is CS with ghost in the shell vibe and setting and tech. Blade Symphony is a true next generation of fighting game with swordplay. I am sorry but next Gen is dead to Me and PC and Wii U look to rule the next few years of my gaming.

Own PC with 780Ti, playing Diablo 3 and Hearthstone on it, and DS2 is the most recent game.

PS4 - decided to play only exclusives and free PSN+ stuff, started out as prime next-gen platform, got tired of Sony BS decision to keep region locking DLC, slow PSN speeds and overall shitty OS/UI/Ecosystem, lack of any efforts to fix those. As soon as they knew that they got ahead in sales and popularity they just do what I would expect of old Sony - sit on their hands.

Xbox One - multiplatform and exclusives.

Sometimes I buy game on more than 1 platform if I want to play with different friends, but Xbox One is my main way to play games (for now). Also amusing to see random creeps checking people platform profiles to discredit their choice and reasoning. I have all my shit on all my profiles, come at me haters.
