This sort of incident is not isolated for Ferguson and there's a definite pattern of police abuse and ethnic minorities (particularly Black Americans) in a number of spots in the United States. That's what he can start to address.
He doesn't need to be an emperor to do so.
People in this country are so brainwashed that it's terrifying.

This is an extremely contentious issue. Anything he says will dominate the discussion. He's probably waiting to see how this all plays out.

You expect the media to give a shit? They always go for ratings. Local news has only had maybe one 5 minute segment on this. Can't find anything regarding whats happening now on live TV. If it becomes an all out riot you'll see it on live TV.
You're blind to the abuse and overuse of force happening, and how people are responding to it. You're trying to make a case for abiding by the rules which is why swat is there. They are violating the civil rights of people as we speak. None of this is by the book. So, someone should make the sane call to just have standard police out to allow a peaceful protest.
This isn't needed to happen right now, with such a volatile situation. Its adding fuel on the fire. So if you understand all the bullshit happening, its combined with the fact that they are sporting a military kit for a 100 person protest. Shoving people, aiming at people, and everything else. They are assaulting the protesters who are peacefully protesters.
You're saying "ok well they are up to no good, but still by the rule of the law.. blah blah blah" Sorry but this is what people are getting upset about. And you should understand this, instead of trying to reiterate the procedures of swat when the PD is 100% currently in the wrong. People are reading from the bible right now,
and having weapons trained on them.

I assume most politicians are looking at this through the lens of 63% of the popular vote vs. 13% of the popular vote (on the national scale).

I'm not saying anything about the the tv news. For one thing, I'm in Canada, and secondly, I have a fairly well informed group of friends (for the most part) so it's very surprising I'm not seeing more posts about it.

Honestly. If it wasn't for this GAF thread I wouldn't even know this was going on. Not the protests or the death of Michael. I rarely watch tv and most of the people on my FB posts only family related stuff. It's really easy for stuff to get by you if you aren't looking for it.

It's one thing to prevent shops from getting broken into. It's another to point guns at an assembly of people. You don't need to shoot rioters to stop. Water cannons work just fine.

If Obama coming out to speak on how police brutality against non-threatening (as in, no possession of weapons and no intent to attack) black Americans and instances like George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martian is somehow a detriment to his party, that says a lot more about the supporters of that party than it does about him.
Progressive liberals at large already put the aforementioned issues on the back-burner, it's time they woke up and realized they can afford to give equal support and caring for all social inequalities in this country.
It's classic Divide-And-Conquer.
Lord forbid masses of easily impressionable people (who have been numbed over years of dumbed-down tv and media) see optimistic imagery in light of this of people of all ethnicities together for a common cause, the same people they'd rather going at each other's necks to extort more news stories and sensationalistic trends of conflict from.
Because they understand if that did happen and everyone banded together, decades of nihilistic, negative techniques of population control would be destroyed through united change.

It's a catch 22. They are there to "prevent" a riot from breaking out like what happened two days ago but their presence is the most menacing thing there that would probably lead to one. I hope they stay patient and let the people protest peacefully as long as they want. they have to play this smart. Forcing them off the streets would just cause panic and unrest.
I really hope not. Earlier they were trying to get people to disperse and things got kinda bad. Seemed like someone gave the order to stand down and it's been peaceful since then. They need to let them protest.
