Well, even if it is fake, I highly doubt the final version will look that different from the fake leaks. We've already seen legit pics of the phone in pieces. So at least the fakes give us a basic idea of what it will look like (especially seeing them against other phones for size comparison). It's silly too because well get all the info we could want in 3 days from now.

But yeah if they are fake probably best to just not give the guy attention.

There's some substantial arguments that make it seem like the leak today is fake. I want to hear your thoughts.

1. It's a wallpaper. This proves nothing. For all we know this is a default wallpaper choice in the iOS 8 gold master build.

2. Icon margins can vary in iOS 7+ because icons move based on the tilt of the device to achieve a parallax effect.

3 and 4. If the Passbook icon changed, who's to say the Music and Clock icons haven't changed for the final build as well? I actually prefer the supposed new Music gradient.

5. We're pitting leak against leak here. One unverified leak can't prove another unverified leak wrong, and I'd say today's leak has a lot more going for it believability-wise than this single part.

6. Every iOS device does this. Quick, go wipe your device right now and see for yourself.

7. Proves nothing.

8. Completely unsubstantiated claim based on something this person read in a comments section. In any case, I'm sure factories have way to bypass activation for testing (we know they do, actually - such a tool has leaked in the past), and given the Chinese source, this could've leaked from a factory.

9. This photo isn't from this set of leaks. The back on the device shown today looks different and more authentic:

No need to sound aggressive. I never said it was facts.

And if you read, #9 was using that picture for an example.

#2-4, we have iOS 8 betas, so why would the icons be different from what we already seen.

#6 is not the point in the amount of storage space but the fact that there is already amount taken after the OS.

#5 Isn't leak against just another leak. Almost every leaked screen has smaller bezels than the leak today.

#10 isn't "straight up wrong", my iPhone doesn't do this. NOT saying others don't, but doesn't make this point invalid.

HTC one is great. The lines don't break up the phone on the htc one, they are simply two straight lines and they add symmetry to the back. What I hate is the loop around the top and bottom, looks terrible.

Man, I really love the design of the M8.

At this point I would be surprised if what they show on Tuesday looks any different at all.

That's the video I'm talking about. Pay attention at the bezels above and under the home button. They seem much smaller on the Russian video than on this new leak. Russian video comes from people who manufacture their components at the exact same place Apple does theirs, and I put a lot more weight into what they have to show.

Weird thing is, other than that, the video leaked today seems 100% legit to me. I don't think this level of OS nuance would ever be possible to fake.

The bands don't look ugly at all. I think everybody in here saying so is crazy. In pretty much every way it looks better than previous iPhones.

Phone looks like it's wearing diapers because of those things. They're ugly.

If today's leaked one looks like this at the base (and it does use the same wallpaper, so I'd same it's probably the same), then I'm going to go with fake. I haven't seen any leaked parts that have only one hole for the mic at the bottom. Apart from that and the janky looking Clock icon, everything else looks kinda legit.

Only a few days left anyway and even if today's is fake, it's not like the actual thing is gonna much different physically except in the details.

It's the exact same hole layout as the 5C.

If the phone was 100% symmetrical, there'd be two headphone jacks and volume and power buttons on both sides.

I seriously doubt Apple would make the bottom of their iPhone that ugly. I really hope that leak is fake.

edit: I just looked up the 5C and it appears they've already used this design there. I think the tiny speaker holes look sooo much better.

I agree. I don't use my phone for much other than texting and social media with some Google searches sprinkled in so aesthetic appeal is crucial to me. I don't know if the ugly lines and speaker holes are enough for me to switch, but I really dislike where they're going with this phone design wise.

I just meant that as far as software features go I'm more than satisfied with iOS 7 as it is. When I decide on a new phone these next few weeks I'll probably be looking for a mobile that looks good as opposed to having a million gimmicky features.

Apple is almost always going to want to make something thinner as long as they can maintain the same amount or better battery life in the device. And with that it's not just about bigger battery, for them it's also if the internals can be more power-efficient at the same time (A8, M7, etc.).

Same as why they don't seem interested in putting more RAM in there. More is not necessarily better unless all the parts are working as efficiently as possible.

Hey, obviously I didn't mean it that way! But the headphone jack ruining the symmetry at the base of the iphone 5/5S didn't sit well with me for a while before I just got used to it. I never paid attention to the 5C.
