Same as why they don't seem interested in putting more RAM in there. More is not necessarily better unless all the parts are working as efficiently as possible.
Ah yes. That's probably why Safari at least used to not be able to cache even three open tabs. Probably constant reloading is a good thing too

I'm going to try to ignore all the last minute chatter, and wait for the event... I can watch the first 30 minutes then I'll have to wait until 6pm to watch the rest... too bad...

My Z1 Compact has 2GB of RAM, and even with only two tabs open it will refresh when switching between them. I think it has more to do with software optimisation to solve the issue.

was this posted? 7 minutes video

Yeah, that looks pretty real. They are manufacturing millions of these things as we speak, that one or more might get into the hands of a motivated 3rd party in China who doesn't care about breaking anonymity is not an unreasonable possibility.

Looks good, but I have to say, if the 5.5 is delayed too long, I might consider using one of the upgrades I have access to on an LG G3, instead of a 4.7. That would be a first for me since the 3G.

That video looks as real as it gets. I don't get however why the bezels on that phone look bigger than what Russians assembled and showed, especially the space above and under the home button.

Space Grey is the worst. I would've purchased an iPhone 5S is if came in normal black.
Space gray (really Gunmetal, but apple doesn't want the word Gun in its color name) should have never been used. They struck gold with that full black color design of iPhone 5, and they ditched it the next update, and for what? Something that looks faded and ruins the practically perfect monolithic black look.

I really like the look of the new one, but I think it would have been way nicer if they had a glass back with curved edges to match the front.

Phone doesn't like anything special right now, but I'm sure on Tuesday after seeing all the hands on footage, I will be lusting after it.

Because the painted chamfered edges scuffed easier, sometimes even straight out of the box.

Space Gray looks amazing still, but the full black design was art.

I have a slate iPhone 5 and I regret getting it. The finish they have on it ages terribly. I'm sure the space grey iPhone shows wear a lot better since it's a color that's not painted on. Apple did the right thing going with that color and retiring slate.

I remember the outcry on the iPhone 5 launch where a lot of factory new iPhones had scratches on them.

I'd never buy an iPhone that has something painted on.

iPhone 6 will be just another iPhone except this time around it has a bigger screen, again.

Not sure why Apple needs to make a big scene every year out of small upgrades. I remember being heavily disappointed by the iPhone 5 screen increase. Apple: CALL THE PRESSES. WE HAVE ADDED ONE MORE ROW TO OUR PHONE SCREEN! REVOLUTIONARY.

It's marketing. Gotta make money.

No phone is updated too greatly these days.

Yep. Here I am, fondling my sexy Space Gray 5S.

Extra row of icons argument is tired, especially this year, and especially on an Internet forum where people have been bitching about the screen size for years. The new APIs, extensions, handover features in ios8, plus the hardware features that we don't know about make this a really exciting year.

What are the chances of getting split screen support?
That is a feature they are working on as people have dug up code that shows work in progress split screen support but I think it was apparently only for the big iPad. I'm guessing the iPad will get it in ios9, I feel they will definitely have to introduce it as a selling point for the rumoured larger iPad "pro"

Having touch id functionality expand further is a very cool addition. One password plus touch ID will be great.

Can't they at least have a split screen for YouTube and twitch when surfing on safari? I never use my computer for surfing on the internet since I got my ipad

It's not like the camera juts out that much or, like on some other phones, defines the whole back/angle of the device. Apple is almost always going to want to make something thinner as long as they can maintain the same amount or better battery life in the device. And with that it's not just about bigger battery, for them it's also if the internals can be more power-efficient at the same time (A8, M7, etc.).

I'm sure that will be a part of the presentation. Apple *doesn't* just stick a bigger battery in for the sake of it. They've never done that with anything. Same as why they don't seem interested in putting more RAM in there. More is not necessarily better unless all the parts are working as efficiently as possible.

Not sure I understand this really. Sticking a bigger battery in there presuming you could keep it in the same thickness range would, ceteris paribus, be better. "More," so to speak, would necessarily be better. Or is this just "in general"?

I thought the color was anodized, not painted.I have had black iphone 5 for almost a year before having to replace it for a defective home button. It looked as good the day I sent it for a replacement as the day I got it. The new one I also have for about the year and it's the same thing. I have no idea what you have to do to destroy that chamfered edge so much as some people say they did. I don't even have any case for the phone. Just keep it on its own in te pants pocket, which I think most people would do regardless of the phone's finish.

Truth.
Slate black was the best color. A shame that scuffgate ruined the use of the dark look and they were forced to switch to space grey. Definitely a failure for Apple.

Bigger anything, in Apple's context of a device's internals, is not better though. They'd rather find a way to make the whole device more energy efficient using the same or similar battery than increase the size of anything.

I'm amazed there isn't a murdered out version of the iPhone. Every time I think out my space grey phone in my pocket it hurts me a little. Imagine if they made the 5c in flat black.
