It's not bluish-tinted. It's just black.
It has a metallic blue tint when you look at it in the light. The 5 and the original iPad mini had this color. It's beautiful. Tilt the device and let the light shine off it and you see a lovely metallic blue tint. I miss that color. I wish they made their computers with that color.

Then again, it was also the model that had a tendency to rub off so I guess that's why they dropped it.

Hey, obviously I didn't mean it that way! But the headphone jack ruining the symmetry at the base of the iphone 5/5S didn't sit well with me for a while before I just got used to it. I never paid attention to the 5C.
To be fair you're right. The 4 and 4S had two sets of holes on the bottom for a speaker on the right and microphone on the left before they made the stupid decision to move the headphone jack to the bottom where it doesn't belong rabble rabble rabble rant rant rant opinion opinion opinion. So they had more symmetry down there than the 5+. Why would it matter though? The top and sides are more visible at all times and none of them are symmetrical. (Well, now the top will be since it won't have any buttons. But the back still only has a camera on the one side.)

I have a 5. I see no blue tint. Are you talking from experience or photos?

I do see a lot of blue in photos sometimes, but usually that's because people tend to take photos with mixed lighting and white balancing is never really 100 % accurate.

Then again it could be that I'm used to seeing my own phone under incandescent yellow light. White balance can be so objective, as your brain tends to cancel it out.

My iPhone 5 has sings and scrapes from being dropped a couple times, and the edges of the diamond shamfer is worn, but that looks pretty cool.
I have a black desk at home and when I out my iPhone 5 on it I can actually lose it....

The black iPhone is so cool. I still maintain that the 5C is the coolest design though.

Did you know that symmetry is often considered a bad thing for designers? Our minds reject it as unnatural, so it's often beneficial to strive for asymmetrical elements.

Obviously phone designs tend to be symmetrical, and I don't think they moved the headphone jack to create asymmetry or anything... But when you say "it's not symmetrical" as if it's a bad thing, I don't think trained designers would agree.

Haven't really been keeping track of whats leaked. But the photos I saw last night I thought were of a bad design on the camera lens since it isn't flush with the rest of the phone and sticks out a little. Surely this would cause it to become more scratched?

Other than that it looks not bad, more interested to see what new features it has rather than the looks.

Really stupid question, because I'm terrible with spec #s and comparisons. Is the new 4.7 model going to be close to the size of something like the Galaxy S4? I have a family member that wants to wait for the 5.5, because they think that will be closer to the Galaxy S4 size. But they don't know either. Is the 5.5 going to be more like the Note?

no idea how big the samsung phones are but the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is said to be 6.9 mm thick, 138 mm long, and 66 mm wide.

The 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is said to be 7.1 mm thick, 158 mm long, and 78 mm wide.

edit:

s4 from google: Dimensions 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm, so ever so slightly bigger than 4.7 iPhone
note 3 dimensions: Dimensions 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm, so 5.5 iphone is a bit longer but near the same

Why can't Apple get their phones to be as thin as the Sony Xperia Z Ultra?

Thanks for the reply. So, interesting. It is pretty darn close to the S4. Not as big, but maybe close enough. Personally, I like big screens, but I've always liked how easy it is to use the iPhone because of it's size. So the 4.7 seems like a good compromise for me personally. So if it's almost as big as S4, but not as big..I dunno, sounds good to me.

Just tried to get some pictures onto a laptop and realised how difficult it is to transfer pictures.

Either you email 3-4 at a time, upload them somewhere and then download them again by sending the link or use the slow as hell iMessage on Mac.

It's 2014...

Will iOS 8 help with transfers at all?

hook up your lightning cable to your iphone/mac and open up the IMAGE CAPTURE app...

It's extremely easy if you have iPhoto and iCloud Photostream enabled (both free on Mac)...

Isn't it piss easy with iCloud photo stream? You'd have a point if you were talking about video.

Also, Airdrop (with compatible devices).

edit: damn u Deku Tree

It wasn't my laptop. It doesn't have Airdrop.

Using a wire works I guess.

iCloud photo stream wasn't set up with the laptop but yea I guess that would be an option also.

Surely there should be an easier wireless option?

it seems like iCloud photo library (new in iOS 8) will do what you need with computers that are not your own. Apple says there is a web interface to access your pics. so that will let you copy them to someone else’s machine without having to hook up the phone physically.

photostream brah, new snaps get uploaded to other devices within seconds. thats why i hate using my digital camera, gotta manually plug in that sd card.

i think those eye fi sd cards for cameras were popular at one point but havent looked back since iphone and photostream

I even put my dslr photos into iPhoto so that they show up in my photo stream.

I'm on my black iPhone 5 right now sitting under a light twisting and turning it every which way and I have no idea what you're talking about? D:

Photostream isn't full resolution as far as I know, so that could be an issue. iCloud Photo Library in iOS 8, however, is supposed to keep full-res copies at the expense of your iCloud storage space. I usually just sync to iPhoto, but there's a built-in OS X app called Image Capture that gives faster access to the photos on a device and makes it easier to just get the files.

Semi-related: I literally JUST switched to T-Mo! Holy shit, my coverage is so much better than it was with ATT in my area, and we're saving 50 USD a month!

Related: For the 8th gen iPhone, what are my options based on prior releases? By that I mean Apple Store handsets. I want to buy an unlocked phone as opposed to a T-Mobile locked handset if I have the chance. Has Apple ever offered unlocked handsets day one?

I think it is full resolution?

Anyway guys use Google+ photo upload. Just puts all your full resolution photos and videos in the cloud. It's cross platform, and you can look at pictures from anywhere with a web UI.

It's full resolution already.

I'm thinking of giving a go to Flickr myself. It seems to be built-in right into OS X and iOS so that's nice.

Although I may just stick with Apple, have to try iCloud Photo Library first. $3.99 per month ain't much. Hopefully it drops this week. The 100GB that iPhoto takes on my Mac are just about BURNING.

Yep. Here I am, fondling my sexy Space Gray 5S.

I bet you take selfies with that gun.

It's full resolution already.

My understanding is that there are two sorts f photostreams on iCloud:

My Photostream, which is designed for transferring your own photos amongst your devices. This is temporary and limited to last month or 1000 photos or something.

As such, they are full resolution files. If you open your My Photostream and inport them from there to iPhoto and subsequently plug your phone in, it says those photos are already imported.

The other type of photostream, Shared Photostreams, are for sharing images with subscribers to your albums. These photos are much less limited (like 1000 photos per album, and like 100 albums or something). They are permanent, but only keep a smaller res version I believe.

I really want to buy an iPad... but I just have to wait for the new one.

Would be pretty silly to buy one nao.

Bigger anything, in Apple's context of a device's internals, is not better though. They'd rather find a way to make the whole device more energy efficient using the same or similar battery than increase the size of anything.

But it'd still be better if they made it more energy efficient and also had a bigger battery. Bigger is still better. Seems like Apple voodoo to say otherwise. Why not both?

*I'm* not saying it wouldn't be better. I'd like to have better battery life - I have a battery case and a separate rechargeable USB box for traveling. Very handy during conferences or conventions so I don't have to sit at an electrical outlet. :)

But I do not believe Apple sees it that way at this time. Since battery tech has been stagnating, they're going to keep getting as small as they can and as energy efficient as they can in the meantime. Nothing gets bigger and only the iPad 3 was allowed to get heavier (and ugh, that stunk).

i'm down for the new iphone, even tho it looks like a shrunken down ipad mini. I just want better battery life and touch id for my password shits.

they probably going to show the wearable device and it probably a very simplistic watch or a shitty watch with shitty battery life made in the shape of an egg.

I haven't been keeping up. Are people under the impression that there WON'T be a bigger a battery as well as a much more energy efficient cpu? Pretty sure it's confirmed already.

Rumor is that the 4.7 has a similar very slightly larger battery to the 5S. 5.5 has a huge 3000mah battery.

Bigger isn't always better. Especially if it is bigger weight. Do you complain about the iPad Air's switch to more energy efficient screens and processors and a lighter battery? They could've kept the battery in there and have it last longer than the iPad 2-4. Why not both?
