If it's like the WWDC keynote the stream will be watchable in vlc, if some kind osx user is willing to share the url.

As long as U2 takes up the last portion of the show when I'm leaving for work, I'll be happy. In the 2 hours before I have to go in I want to see iPhone, iOS and iWatch and nothing else... unless they want to throw other things in too.
Don't really see the harm in U2 being douchy at this event. Granted, they haven't had a decent song in over 15 years, but so what. I am reminded of the time Coldplay's vocalist was at an Apple Music event. That did drag on for a needlessly long time.
They'd need to have something truly ghastly like Nickelback if they want to eclipse the announcements.

I really don't like Apple's circle of musicians... it really lends the most truth to Apple being uncool and kinda hipstery at the same time.

Surely its because they have something big to show though. No way they would do this for a spec bump and bigger screen that has already leaked.

But they definitely wish to prevent iWatch from leaking, even 5m before the actual announcement. I am also hoping we get cool new iPads.
Plus I also hope that iOS 8 is more than just a stability upgrade with a few new integrated apps.

Yea iWatch makes sense with this level of security.
iOS 8 most exciting for the flexibility it offers apps. Getting apps that are closer in power to Android apps will be great. Without giving them too much power that can lead to safety issues.

Most likely not. Apple has traditionally had a live stream on their own page with impeccable quality. You need either a Mac or a Safari browser to watch it though.
Good question. There have been separate iPad conferences, but I cannot really see why Apple wouldn't lump all in at this event.
They won't. iPad event is in October, release is in November.
The tape thing on the workers phones isn't a big deal I don't think. I knew some Samsung workers in Korea who worked at the main Samsung place in Suwon and they all had to have the security tape camera covers too. I believe it's pretty common practice, they said everyone had them and security checked them every morning/gave people new stickers every morning.

Also, the only thing worse than Safari on Windows is iTunes.

Somebody mentioned a possible workaround a while back, changing the user agent on the browser. No idea if it works or not
Except that people with Windows PCs can't watch it on Safari for Windows, so installing it would do nothing.
Edit: Beaten. Apple is just trying to trick people into using Safari for Windows then?

Yes, but there's nothing you actually need Safari for (because Apple streams don't work), in contrast to iTunes.

Lol I literally just installed Safari on Windows just to watch the conference, and found out I still won't be able to stream it... Way to play me like a fool, Apple.
Oh well, time to uninstall that garbage browser.
Guess I'll just watch the conference on my tiny 4S screen. :/

Not sure, we think that every year.
There'll be streams elsewhere I'm sure of it, plus someone said you can put the stream URL into VLC and that'll play it, but I haven't done that myself.

Does anyone else feel that this is quite possibly the biggest iPhone unveiling ever, in terms of where the phone market is now with the increasing competition and rising of Android?
I mean in terms of I don't think Apple can no longer just get by with doing what is just needed and nothing more. 2-3 years ago you'd have said that the iPhone 4 was probably the most impressive smart phone released, the screen was amazing and unlike anything else, the App Store didn't have a true rival etc.
But now, Android has come on so much and the manufacturers have really upped their game in terms of the quality of hardware they are outputting, the Z3 for example is a stunning piece of hardware when you look at the spec and the waterproofing etc.
I say this as someone who has exclusively owned an iPhone since the 3G and I've had 3 out of the 5 phones released since then. The design of the iPhone 6 (or what we are lead to be believe is the design) doesn't really bother me, that terrible protruding camera does however. But I guess I should wait to see if there is a reasoning behind that. I want to be impressed today and I hope I am.

People usually stream it via sites like UStream. Just wait for a link.
You can also get it to work with VLC supposedly but that never worked for me.
I know there was anger directed toward the 5S. First of all, people did not really like the finger print thingy. I did not either. And there was this uneasy feeling that 5S was the proper iPhone that model 5 should have been.
Now people have accepted the finger print reader as a given. Surely Apple sells some of this data to track identified criminals.

Nope, anyone can install it. People just don't tend to until it's officially released through OTA/iTunes etc, probably just because they're not aware they can install it manually rather than waiting for it to be distributed normally.
I would jump on an ipad air 2 for laminated screen OR more ram/no safari tab refreshing bollocks. Both together would be fantastic.
Yeah, no. Even a phone I'm somewhat interested in is not worth installing goddamn Safari. User agent hacks work?
