One of the other things I did with my alt was buy weapons and armour every time I went up a couple of levels. You'll never get them quick enough in the game since you should be levelling faster than the base level. I got to 20 after the first mission on Mars.

What expectations are there? You ask people to play with you; sometimes you get the same people, sometimes you don't.

I'll quote myself, you might've missed my edit-
Nah, but I'm the kind of person who has stuff come up frequently that takes me away from my free time. So by the time I have time to do something, it's at an awkward time. For example last week I ran Nightfall with ComputerMKII/Uhhhhhhh another Eurogaffer(SORRY I FORGOT YOUR NAME) from 2-5 in the morning or so.

i know that feel, stems from performance anxiety, you dont wanna inconvenience others if youre not as good or if you die during it.

theres no real fix other than to remember its just a game, people... mostly, are playing it for fun, if you ask for help and someone offers it then it makes no difference how you do as long as you TRY.

That's a part of it. My first night doing the nightfall, I fucked up alot and was probably the cause of it going on for 2-3 hours. Granted, I was just doing stupid stuff that I shouldn't have been(Trying to punch out captains...). I'd rather let 2 random people down then 2 people on here, so to say.

I didn't do the next Nightfall because well, it was just a pain and I wasn't equipped for it in terms of elemental damage. Third week though, I did and whilst it was easy, there were a couple moments where I knew everyone died because of me.

This week? Helm of the Inmost Light, last week An Insurmountable Skullfort. Guess what? I don't have a Titan at 20, fixing that now though. Also picked up 2 Legendary Class items, and a exotic chest...all for the Titan.

I hate you.

Just kidding but I run a Titan and would kill for either of those helmets. I bought Zurs engram last night and got a hunter Splinter Cell helmet

Maybe i do hate you.

PSA:

Please do not invite people to join your group without at least asking them to run something specific or putting in the invite what it is you want to run. The players you are inviting to your group are actually doing things when you send an invite. I know you believe we should all stop what we are doing and do your quests for you without complaint, but not everyone believes that.

Each night I receive about 20 to 30 blind invites for games. Last night someone blindly invited me to what I thought was a nightfall (I just posted a LFG nightfall), but nope, he was just doing a hard quest and wanted me to run him through it.

Alright then.

So last night I started culling my friends list of people who do this. It's just obnoxious. One guy invited me over 100 times so far since I added him, and even when I drop a note asking him what he wants to run, no response.

We're ~111,000 posts in the Destiny OT and not once have I seen a Gaffer make a post about another Gaffer saying something like "noone group with <so and so> because they had a real life obligation come up and couldn't finish a mission with us." People are pretty nice around here, especially towards other Gaffers.

If you don't want to be the one making the post about getting other people to join you, why not just join one of the ones that someone else posted? It's pretty constant that people are posting LFG for X,Y, or Z missions here. Just log in to GAF when you are ingame real quick and see if anyone is doing the weekly.

I can't plan ahead either, I have a wife and two kids so I play video games when I get to. I can't plan when my 2 month old is going to wake up and need a diaper change. But I can log in to the game, check GAF to see if anyone is looking for a group of something I want to do, and request to join if they still have room.

Just saying, since you do still have 2 days left to do the weekly and get some coins if you're willing.

I screw up in Strikes with other Gaffers and die on trash mobs from trying to play too fancy. As long as you're giving an honest effort nobody will judge you for mistakes. I've grouped almost exclusively with gaffers and people I've met through gaffers and nobody has ever been critical of performance.

Took this screen earlier while browsing Venus. Probably my favorite planet.

Did you do any crucible on your alt? Also, did you just stick with the hard modes and do bounties? Also, did you do anything with the grimore bonuses?

my experience is as follows:

Soloing a mission/strike: One man war machine of death and destruction.

Partying with a fellow gaffer: Kill self with own rocket launcher/grenade, fall off every ledge to my death, fall behind because i was picking uo drops, dat few second silence when party wipes over some trivial mob.

Does you good to laugh about it.

I'll keep my eye out but works a pain the next 72 hours, so I probably won't get a chance to do a weekly till..monday afternoon. I don't wanna make any promises.

100 invites?? That's fucking annoying.

Seriously, 3 out of 4 weeks those ugly ass gloves.

Such unabated bullshit. It's specially hurting that other classes get a helm this week but warlocks.

For those of you that don't know, the raid helm only drops from hard mode, so the easy way to 30 requires an exotic helm.

I'm with you, bro. Looking for an exotic helm myself. Bought the breakers week 2.

+1

I hate that shit too. I always send a message first before I start with invites.

edit. It really doesn't help that messaging on ps4 is complete ass though.

Wow I just got Patience & Time to drop in a vanguard playlist strike, then a Legendary Engram the next that turned out to be Icebreaker. Never got Exotics from drops before that!

I pretty much ignore all invites unless im in tower, it'd be nice if theyd add a filter to the invite function so you could set it to only allow invites while in the tower or orbit.

is there a list of what Xur is bringing to the party this weekend?
Same than last week for me.

Helmet Engram
Red Death (Exotic Pulse Rifle)
Sunbreakers (Gauntlets - For Warlocks)
Achlyophage Symbiote (Helmet - For Hunter)
Helm Of Saint-14 (Helmet - For Titan)

One thing I don't like about exotic gear is that they often seem to have intellect and nothing else. I understand that most people are all about faster super times, but I'm much more interested in my melee/grenade abilities/buffs and how they feed off of eachother; it makes moment to moment gameplay much more interesting to me. Maybe I just don't find the supers very interesting.

Since I'm curious how others do things, do you look at what they are doing when you get the invite? If I get an invite, I check where they are...Raid on Venus, I assume they want to raid. In orbit alone, they are up for whatever and just don't want to play alone. In orbit with 2 - 5, they want to do crucible.

I kind of thought this what everyone thinks, and usually just send out a "Play Destiny!" invite while in the area that matches above. If it's something super specific like "last boss in raid", then I'll put in the invite comment.

Yeah, I'll always respond to a message, but a blind fireteam invite could be for anything, I have no idea how to distinguish so they're often unanswered :(

Honestly best thing to do is just hop in my PSN party or invite me to one and then ask out loud about whatever you're doing- this doesn't interrupt current in-game activities and if we're not gonna do whatever it is at the time, we can just hop out of the party no harm no foul. PSN party functionality also seems more reliable than Friend services/messaging for the moment.

The problem is that accepting that "Play Destiny!" invite immediately takes you from whatever you're doing and throws you into a loading screen, then the activity the other person is doing. You don't know WHERE someone is in a Strike, if they're looking for help with a Story mission or just want to do something after it, they're thinking about some Crucible, on their way to or from the tower when you're headed the other direction, etc....

Was just thinking of the Raid we started last night and can't stop thinking about how fun and different it is compared to the rest of the game. Can't wait to finish and look forward to any new Raids.

Any tricks or tips to get motes of light?
The fast way in my opinion is leveling up.

- Play a public event per day (it is RNG but most times give you a mote of light)
- Level up you character
- RNG from Engrams

The best way to level up is Bounties and Daily Heroic... it give you 2000-5000xp per bounty / daily heroic mission.

Yeah, sometimes 10 to 15 in a row. I was going to post a screen shot of my invites but I dont' want to call anyone out publicly.

Sorry man I just wanted to hang out! :P

...

IDK if you are even on my FL.

Personally if I am open for whatever I set my party to public, if I see someone on my FL set to public I will pop in and ask what they are up to.

Hunters look way better in shaders than Warlocks.
I quite like the queen shader on my hunter but after getting the leopard cloak last night, and seeing the gaffer post that camo picture of their hunter.. I need that shader whatever it is called.

Yea the Parties are definitely the way to do it. I also like being able to adjust the mix for parties/game audio like it has since some people have mics that are either super quiet or really loud.
