It's a shame Hulk movies are so hamstrung by what the vast majority of people seemingly want from a Hulk film. Him smashing shit up. :(

I was thinking back to how magic that simple scene in the Avengers was of Bruce Banner and Black Widow in india. Him outputting a mad intensity that he could switch anytime.

A film built around that understanding that the Hulk is a terrifying presence when unleashed would work well. I loved the Ang Lee film because it understood that.

The leap in quality between the first Captain film and the second was quite spectacular.
 
No Iron Man 4? Wonder if that's why he's in Cap 3... or maybe it's because he's in Cap 3 there's no IM4? Probably not, Iron Man movies are more popular than the Cap ones by far.

I wonder who the villain will be, maybe Shuma-Gorath since he has some (loose) ties to Thanos.

But I agree with you, Doctor Strange is going to be the most interesting one out of this line-up in seeing how it will perform.

I think they have to pay him a bajillion dollars for another solo film. His current contract is a way round it I guess.

Speaking of contracts, Marvel are cheap but how much are we talking here for the actors, not peanuts I presume but not a lot either?

The look was amazing, you could see a real sense of shock and fear at the sight of someone else actually moving it, even if just a fraction.

I swear, if/when we see Cap lift it, its gonna give me chills I know it. The funny thing is Cap has never really been a character I was interested in before but the MCU really has done a fantastic job of showing that not only is he a supreme badass but he is also a true hero and the best choice to be leader of the Avengers.

Eh, I think Natasha totally warrants a solo film. Her origin is fascinating and Yelena Belova would make a fantastic "villian."

Yah, I'll be 38. My daughter will be 7, up and running, and giggling about boys, and cycling and playing with her first gameconsole, it's going to be an enitre different world for me then.

I might take go see Infinity Wars pt 2 with her. Do a straight up marathon of all the awesomeness she's missed since Incredible Hulk.
 
I'm interested in hearing what direction they go with for Captain Marvel. From watching Guardians of the Galaxy:

I thought they were going to go with the insane male one, Genis-Vell , and that he wouldl be Star Lord's father.

But I am reading they're going with Carol Danvers, which I think is a more intriguing option and would be a better fit with the universe they've created.

I was shedding TEARS of joy when I saw Captain Marvel announcement, I'm so happy for Kelly Sue DeConnick and the fans for for pushing the comic and the name to the forefront. Can't wait for casting news.

My remaining hype for comic movies is seeing Batman vs Superman, Thanos beat the shit out of everyone, and Apocalypse, once those happen i will be a happy comic fan..

Phylla would have been the most interesting but the world aint ready for lesbian superhero relationships.

Civil War sounds like a clusterfuck having their two big heroes fight and also having to handle origins for new characters like Black Panther. Total trainwreck.

I know this has almost certainly been done before but it is kinda weird that the movies have very similar premises and were at one point meant to release on the same day.

It's depressing to see the superhero genre almost become monopolist in its grip on the blockbuster market - especially for those of us who don't think even the most hyped films have been remotely close to creative and inventive with the use of their universe. I sure hope some of the movies coming up actually try to do something new and not just please loyals with fan service.

Maybe if RDJ was being replaced/Winter Soldier was shit, the parallel would have more weight.

They do have that kind of grip on the market. The past years have seen a big percentage of big blockbuster movies becoming superhero films. There's less room for original scripts and ideas, and when they do come out they're often overshadowed in the marketing game. That's just a fact.

I'll be pushing 40. I wish this renaissance of comic hero movies had started about five years earlier than it did, but I get that it was largely impractical until recently - given the state and cost of effects, where the licensing was at on some properties, Marvel nursing themselves back to health, etc. The struggle man. The struggle.

It's extra funny because they'll also have totally opposite outcomes for DC and Marvel. Batman vs Superman is what they're using to unite all the heroes into Justice League. Civil War is what they're using to tear everyone apart and force the introduction of new faces.

They're popular, sure, but it's definitely not a fact that they hold some sort of monopoly on "blockbusters" recently. Hunger Games, Frozen, Gravity, Hobbit films, Star Trek, World War Z, Bond, Fast and Furious, Transformers, Lego movie, Maleficient and Godzilla are some of the top grossing movies over the past few years.

Then you have recent hits like John Wick, Expendables, Pacific Rim and the like that have been great successes.

Superhero flicks are popular sure, but let's not oversell their saturation.
 
I'd be happy if Infinity War Part 2 was the end of the MCU, at least for a good while.
21 movies is a hell of a lot for an 11 year life-span.
And when you factor in Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four and the DC universe I think it needs a nice break.

Leave it a few years and then have a reboot Phase 4, maybe taking the parallel universe with Doctor Strange into account.

I only watch the films, my knowledge of Marvel is very limited outside of that

I think we're close. Shows like the L Word, Orange is the New Black, and even Weeds with gay and lesbian characters, were all well received. Renee Montoya is in Gotham. And they can still mine Batwoman.

Man Renee Montoya. She was my second favorite part about 52 (Black Adam's heart breaking rise and fall my first). I was hoping she would get higher profile treatment on TV or movies, but I am digging her portrayal in Gotham so far.
 
I'm still pretty eh about them doing Civil War. I'm sure they'll at least do a better job with it than the terrible comic did, but I just find 'heroes are at odds, then have to set aside their differences for the greater good' stories to be really boring.

We already did all that in the first Avengers movie, and it looks like it's going to happen again in Age of Ultron.

If they really wanted RDJ to have a major role in Cap 3, I'd have much rather they'd framed it as Steve asking for help tracking Bucky down and Stark wanting to help his bro out. A buddy cop superhero movie would be pretty great.

I'm expecting Baron Mordo will be the central antagonist with the plot revolving around summoning either Dormmamu or Shuma-Gorath
 
I cannot believe that we live in a world today where there can be a serious discussion about the possibility of Shuma-Gorath actually appearing in a huge live action blockbuster film.

We'll see moondragon before we see phylla. I really want then to make gamora bi and make her moondragon's love interest but they probably won't even address her sexuality

Shuma is too big for a first movie. The villain will totally be Baron Mordo. But I would love it to be Silver Dagger

But seriously, the Strange villain will be Dormammu. With no Strange sequel possible until, at the earliest 2019, they won't want to wait to get to Dorm.

That would be great. They already have history, without really having history. It's clear they dislike core traits and motivations about one another. The age difference, despite Cap being "older", and their distant places in society. Oil and water. Plus RDJ could probably pull this off better than most working actors today.

Alas, I'm afraid the two characters will just be played against each other to push the plot.
