So, who is the leader of the mages and who is the leader of the templars that are going to talk at this meeting?

And how many people/who are going? I imagine the other templars/mages are at war, but is there war in the Mage country, or are they fighting the Qunari at this time? If not, what are Qunari and mages doing?

The meeting in DA:I? If so (light spoiler)
it doesn't state who the leaders were, they all died during the explosion in the title screen

Tevinter isn't taking part in the summit; mages there aren't subject to Chantry control (well, not the Orlesian chantry, at any rate), so they don't have a dog in that fight. They're probably duking it out with the Qunari, but that's not terribly unusual.

Part of the reason why the state of things in DAI is as bad as it is is that
the "official" leaders of the Templars and the Mages got blown up at the summit along with the Divine. Total chaos.

Are these DA:I spoilers or just DA:O/DA2 spoilers?

So, all this mage/templar fighting happening is just mostly between Ferelden and Orlesia?

And Tevinter is just doing their own thing with Qunari? Petty/small skirmishes, if anything?

ItsThatAsianBoy answered the first.

Less "between," more "in." The Mage/Templar conflict is centered around the Orlesian chantry, which is the religious authority in Orlais, Ferledan, the Free Marches... basically anywhere that isn't Tevinter or Par Vollen (Qunari home).

And yeah, Tevinter is in a more or less permanent state of war with the Qunari over territory they took when they first appeared. Sometimes it's cold, sometimes it's hot, but there's perpetual border disputes regardless.

Technically DA:I but the explosion happens on the title screen.

Any country that has Circles besides Tevinter (the mages are in total control there so there's nothing to rebel. We might see some interesting under-the-table help from Tevinter to the mage rebellion, though.) That doesn't include Par Vollen since Qunari don't have Circles.

And Tevinter is just doing their own thing with Qunari? Petty/small skirmishes, if anything?

As far as we know Tevinter isn't directly involved in the mage/templar war going on in Thedas because of what I said above.

Man, the level design of The Hinterlands is an absolute masterpiece. Just top shelf stuff. The layout and detail of the world is easily Bioware's finest.

Just saw on a video that you can respec, can anyone confirm this?

Can I respec to a totally different class (like changing from a rogue to a mage) or just for the subclasses?

Done preloading on PC, now beings the awful wait until 18th november :(

The soundtracks from the deluxe download are real nice though, many well done ones.

Neither. Respecing only returns your spent ability points. If you've already chosen a specialization, ala Knight Enchanter, Reaver or Artificer, you're still going to have that. Only you'll have all the points you spent in that tree or any of the other main four trees for your class. So if you're level 16 Mage Necromancer when you respec you'll still be a Mage Necromancer, but you'll have 17 or 18 ability points to spend as you wish.

I'm trying to go into this mostly blind but I do have a couple questions.

1) Do party members have fixed subclasses or am I free to choose those?

2) Is it viable to have neither a Knight Enchanter nor a Champion in your party? It seems that those are the dedicated "healer" and tank roles.

Hmmmz..safe to order via US Origin store over VPN and then switch it off after purchase? I want to play this game asap, meaning the 18th. :(

1) Yes, each companion has a set specialization

2) You should be fine without either, there will likely be many different party configurations that will work.

Do note though that Knight Enchanter is actually more of a melee mage than a healer, they just happen to have the one healing spell available in their tree, everything else about them is focused on defense and melee attacking.

Awww...

I still don't know what class I should play. If we could freely respec it would make it so much easier. I don't usually replay games, so I would like to try different classes.

Maybe I'll play the online mode a bit with different classes to try then. Do I need to progress to a certain point to unlock the MP, or is it available from the beginning?

I'm thinking of playing a bow and arrow rogue. Played a warrior on DA1 and a mage on DA2. I never really played as any kind of rogue on an RPG.

Not a bad idea, but remember you aren't forced to actually play as your character during combat. If you find you like controlling an Archer over a Mage or a Warrior just control whatever party member you have that fits that role and let the AI control your actual Inquisitor.

Great, thanks. Is there anywhere where I can see which companions have which specializations? I mean, I can make some pretty educated guesses, but the Wiki doesn't seem to have anything on that right now.

Uhhh I can just tell you:

Cassandra=Templar
Blackwall=Champion
The Iron Bull=Reaver
Vivienne=Knight Enchanter
Dorian=Necromancer
Solas=Rift Mage
Cole=Assassin
Varric=Artificer
Sera=Tempest

was anyone who's preloaded it able to download the flames of inquisition pack? that's the only thing that won't download for me.

Go to Mexico if looking for cheap deal. Getting game open early is all about hitting South Korea on 17th via VPN, from where you got game doesn't matter.

Hopefully PSN is the same. I saw 44 gigs on the store page a couple of days ago and I shit bricks but it's gone now.

On consoles it is around that 44 GB because you are forced to download every possible localization for some idiotic reason.

Slow internet eh?

Or close that VPN?

Internet's not bad so it must be the VPN. How much difference would it make? It doesn't matter, it should wrap up some time this weekend so long as my PC doesn't crash.

Is this normal? Do all Origin games download so slow? This is literally my first ever time using Origin for anything.

I don't know what those people who weren't impressed by the visuals are looking at. The Dragon's fire in the Giant Bomb quick look is some of the best I've seen.

I asked this before the game was out anywhere and I was told yes, but I just wanna double-check since people have played it now. Can I play the game without micromanaging? Preferably as a hack n slash where all I really need to worry about is my character.
