Are you guys keeping your Amiibos on their boxes or you just don't care about it? Haha I still have my Samus Amiibo unopened. I just love the way it's packaged but I also want to test it in dem Smash and MK8!

Trinity (wft, Marth, villager) in box until values get sorted out rest opened.

How would you all feel if Nintendo took a gacha (surprise inside) approach for their next series of Amiibo figurines, similar to what Disney does with Vinylmation?

I'm not talking major characters, but minor characters like Tom Nook, Pikmin, Goomba, Koopa Troopas, Magikoopa, and the like.

It'd be fun to get the rarer chaser figurines, flaunting that minor exclusive DLC online wherever applicable.

Thoughts?

They already did that with their previous NFC toy range, the Pokemon Rumble ones, and it was hell.

This made me laugh more than it should have.

Yoshi is the best amiibo though >:(

at least he got super buff now B^)

It's bad enough that there's going to be a figure for every Smash character that I'm going to want to buy...please don't make me hunt randoms @ $13 each...

Poor Yoshi... :(

That Yoshi picture drives my point home. Retailers are not going to be willing to carry figurines like Tom Nook and Pikmin on shelves when they can have figures actually in demand on their shelves.

If we're going to ever see minor characters like them, Goomba, Koopa Troopa, and the like, we're not going to see them packaged like these current figures are; they won't sell.

The gacha formula is pretty much necessary for retailers to cooperate, and for the undesirable figurines to actually be sold through in hopes that they are the ones the buyers are shooting for.

Yeah. Some of them the paint can be very inconsistent on the figures. And the characters with swords, some of them can be bent in varying forms from so/so to bad. Its best to look at different figures of the same character to see which you like the best.

Rad thanks for all the info, wallet will be screaming Friday, but it's all good, really excited actually!

Nintendo is still figuring out the demand of each individual character though. If these same retailers are willing to carry every Skylanders and/or Disney Infinity character, I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't command the same respect if amiibo in general keep moving units...even if it's only half or so of the figures that are doing big numbers.

Either way, I think Nintendo is already showing their hand with how they're going to handle lesser-known characters...retailer exclusives. Weirdly enough, I actually prefer that to random, gacha style sales. Worst-case, I can order a figure from each retailer's website if I can't make it to the store.

So I caved and completed my series one boxed set today. Bought a few of my favorites on Thursday night and Friday, and just had to have the rest. Really impressed with how these little figures turned out, and I think the extra game content is worth the price coupled with that.

For those still looking for some of the harder to get ones, Target seems to be the best place to find them. Target had 3 displays set up in the store, 2 were smaller than I've seen in most places and held the stock of the major characters, most of which had completely sold out. After a moment of sadness cause it was going to be my last trip/hope today, to my surprise I managed to find a hidden 3rd display that was much bigger than the first two, but was about 2 foot from the floor... Clearly it was missed by many because multiples of almost every Amiibo was there excluding Samus. Be sure to check your stores thoroughly, Walmart had them in a tough to find spot as well.

Time stopped, and I scooped up two of Marth. 1's for collecting, and 1 for creating a monster which I also look forward to very much. Gonna have to pre-order set two now that I got myself into this mess. Really dig these charming little figures though, This thread made them especially hard to resist.

For what it's worth I'm from the New Jersey area if that any help. Also, A Marth Amiibo I kept sealed does have an perfectly straight sword, so be sure to check for that, I can confirm that some are just fine. Actually, Be sure to check everything in general, I've seen over 100 figures between all of the stores I've been to, and some look way better than others do by a considerable amount. I'll post pics at your request for whatever reason if you guys would like.

Such a good time to be a Nintendo fan.

So is anyone else that pre-ordered the whole first wave from Amazon.ca still waiting for their order to ship? Because I am. :/

I pre-ordered back in September too, so I'm not sure what the holdup is.

I bought Mario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi on Friday and I'm trying to force myself to not buy the rest of the available ones.

Good luck. I started with 3 (Link, Mario & Pikachu) on Friday and currently have 10. LOL

I'll probably end up with all 12 before Thanskgiving. I have no self-control!

My Samus just arrived and she looks fantastic! I'm really happy with this purchase, as she has much better paint job than my Peach, who has a few small blemishes on her hair and dress.

Villager comes tomorrow so I hope he looks good. I'm starting to get addicted to these things.

The colouring on my DK is really uneven: the brown fur is especially dark in spots on the back of his head/going down his back. It's like they tried to darken his cowlick, and then just got stray dark stuff all over. Anyone else? At least he looks good from the front I guess. Starting to worry they're using child labour to build these things though.

My 6 year old wants these cause he is getting a Wii U. My mother implied that she had no problem seeing tons of these at all the gamestops and best buys around. That was today. I thought it would be crazy to find them. My son really wants Mega Man though... don't think hes out before xmas :(

I run a mean donkey kong, and trained my DK amiibo 1 on 1 for awhile. Got him to level 50 and he was nuts. Then I started feeding him equipment. He's too fast, too strong, and too smart to beat with anyone but my mains. He 5-stocked me with me as Dedede, i could only get him to 115%, but then he headbutted me into the ground and escaped to eat a bunch of health items. I taught him to do that. He loves items.

I've created a monster, and it made me want all of the amiibo to do the same

This here makes me believe Nintendo is really onto something here if they can get their other dev studios to put these to good use. I love it. Just wish my link amiibo from tru didn't get back ordered (even though I preordered the thing like 2 months ago)

The difference between Skylanders and Amiibo, though, are that Amiibo figurines like Tom Nook and Pikmin aren't going to be completely playable characters in any game we know of, or likely ever will know of. These figurines will play small roles in unlocking small bits of content in various games, and won't carry the value of a fully playable Skylanders character.

I got my son the Mario Amiibo and his grandparents got him Donkey Kong and Pikachu! I can't wait to see his face on Christmas.

We may go back and get Princess Peach for his sisters.

Has anyone found a Villager amiibo at Best Buy? They've been switched to "pre-order" on the website and it seems several people are having issues with them there.

Last night, my friends and I decided to go to dinner but before that, we decided to let several of my friend's amiibo (Mario, Peach, WFT & DK) to duke it out. All were about level 15 so we did a 99 stock, all items battle on Final Destination. The amiibo previously only battled each other (neither me nor my friends played against them) so we hadn't taught them anything really.

Needless to say, it was hilarious coming back to see that WFT was knocked out completely (despite being the early favorite when we left), DK was at 2 stock while Mario and Peach were both left with 5.

Probably the coolest thing was seeing Mario follow Peach off the stage, meteor smash her down and then safely recover back onto the platform. It was hilarious due to having not taught Mario to do that yet the amiibo did it just fine. For the record, Mario won the match and all except Peach were at level 50 after that.

Do we have any type of info if any of the Wave 2 figures will be shipped similar to the Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer figures? I already have most pre-ordered but was curious.

My amiibos are not fun anymore. I have Samus and Link. Both reached to lvl 50 and both destroy me. Im pretty sure now theyre more difficult than lvl 9 CPU cus I can take care of those no problem.

Thanks, Obama.

I have 4 of them and I think they are stupid. I would recommend buying at least one so you can try it out but anymore than that is a waste imo. If you have bought more I say keep em boxed.

I have Mario, DK, Yoshi and Kirby. I love these lil' figures. Haven't tried them in-game yet. I wonder what the best way is to train them? I'm not looking to make them grow fast, I'm looking to make them grow strong.

I've been fighting against my fox, DK, and Link amiibos in free for all. It's been pretty fun. Started with just Fox on his own. He's about level 22 right now. Can tell he's getting better.

Fine, I cave! Which one of these should I buy? Or which two?

Link is currently the most useful, Mario will probably be the most useful in the long run, Kirby is the most adorable and I only got him to sit under my monitor and smile at me, Samus and Fox look cool.

Dang it! I have to quit reading this thread. It's making me want to buy more of these things. I've already ordered Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi in the Toys R' Us deal. I'm still wanting to at least get Link, Peach, and Kirby.

Amiibos are so fun. They make me happy whenever I pass by the shelf where I placed them. Often stop to admire Mario's clear fireball or DK's shaggy fur. And Kirby is so smooth and round. Same with Yoshi's nose...

*stares dreamily at plastic figures*

wal-mart still has not stocked amiibos yet, i did get a fox at gamestop though. I almost got animal crossing villager but decided against it.

You know you want it, it's right there and you're there and, why- it's just so easy!

His sword isn't hella bent, but I'm not sure he's perfect.

I don't see any obvious blemishes, but I'm not one to be super picky. Just part of me goes why is this one the last one? Is it cause the others were better made?
