Trailer looks pretty hype. I'm ok with having some "serious" looking comic films.
Edwards is doing the first spinoff, which is supposed to be the heist movie. Trank is doing the 2nd spinoff. Johnson is doing Episode 8 and a treatment of 9.
Or anything that people would associate with the Fantastic 4?

What isn't associated with Fantastic 4 in that teaser? It's a teaser. Did you want them battling Doom while Reed stretches and bear hugs him as Sue throws rocks, Johnny burns, and Thing clobbers?

I absolutely forgot Trank was directing a new Star Wars flick. Man, NeoGAF is a tough crowd sometimes; I also think visually this film looks good - from the symmetry and composition to the lighting (the warm colours stood out from all the cool and metallic ones). I have hopes for this one, because I think there's room in the market for more than a HUGE shared universe like the Avengers.
One thing that's always bugged me from the Marvel Studio movies is that they all look the same, visually.
Also of note, Trank had some heavy inspiration from Akira for Chronicle. The trailer seems to suggest a "military lab break-out scene," which for me is another plus as it's also an iconic moment in Akira.

I was ready to shit on this for any reason. tumblr doom, the rumored production issues, miles teller looks like a goober, Kate Mara is awful, "this aint your daddys Fantastic Four!"
They didn't show a whole lot to be worried about, but they did show enough to not write it off totally. The actors look the parts, the effects are impressive. The tone is pretty heavy it seems though. And i'm not excited about yet another god damn origin story but I liked what I saw

stop guessing what I want, because it seems you are awful at the guessing game, the question alone before the edit was better.
Actually we had a guy on fire, names were not called, we had no science genie, no space trip, no doom at all, the negative zone was not named and also doesn't look like the comic version, these are all things you know about the movie but if I read a F4 comic and then watched the trailer I would be more confused why they try to rip off the F4 story than direct a movie on the comic.
No smart Reed, still iffy on the Johnny casting, all are super young, the dark tone, for a series of adventures more than crime fighting.
Jebus. Star Wars locked some good folks. So Trank is likely doing the Boba Fett spinoff? The only one I hear people talk about is the heist one.

Works for me though because I hate the current superhero movie style. The Dark Knights is the best easily, Batman Begins and Chronicle are both amazing too. Literally everything else ranges from "eh" to awful.

Well we don't know what the 2nd spinoff will be about. It might be a version of the Seven Samurai thing that Snyder was supposed to have done, it might be a young Han Solo thing, or it might be Boba Fett. It's not really clear.

The movie is Fantastic 4... and there's a dude on fire. Every one who knows who the Fantastic 4 will know who he is.
Your criticisms are not legit. They things you "want". They are not critical of the movie. You take what's there and examine. You don't say what you want and call this movie bad because you saw the trailer.
What... is wrong with Johnny's casting? Micheal. B Jordan is a great actor. He even has the charm of Johnny. He is top tier Johnny if you wanted to hire someone.
A super hero cannot be dark in tone? Why not? If it's done right then what's the issue? It's not faithful? To be honest, if you wanted a faithful adaption then go watch the 2000-era Fantastic 4 movies. You WILL love those if you love the comics. *wink wink nudge nudge*

Fox studio bosses are not pleased with how The Fantastic Four has turned out, with it being described by some as "Chronicle 2 rather than Fantastic 4." The site adds that a well-connected senior executive has told them that The Fantastic Four is a "mess" and that there is some major "disquiet" behind the scenes in regards to the current state of the movie. As a result, expensive reshoots are apparently being demanded, with set in Louisiana being rebuilt to accomodate these.
The DCCU has potential & the X-Men movies have been solid since First Class & DoFP.
I don't see the same insane level of obsession from Batman fans here. I have seen actual posters here claim the ONLY movies they will go see in theaters are all the Marvel Studios movies. The Marvel fanboys are the most rabid and in your face type fanboys here these days, no question. Literally even the smallest piece of Marvel Studios news gets it own thread.
