New Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae screenshots

The problem is that FF Versus Xlll was announced several years ago with gameplay videos and everything. Then, there were a couple years of radio silence on the game. A year or so ago, the game was renamed to FF XV, along with some new gameplay videos and an advertisement. Seems like a bit of a repeat, so it's no surprise people are still skeptical.

I think there is immensely more pressure on Square to get this game out than there was eight years ago with Versus XIII. Versus was a supplementary game. This is a mainline title. And Square is in much worse financial state now than they were then.

Other than the character models and lighting this really isn't lookin that hot, not that it's anything that'd make me drop the game. I was interested in it from the start for the gameplay so if that was solid the game could have PS2 visuals and I'd still be interested. I really hope we get a PC version, though.

Also, lol at the ground textures and foliage in that last screenshot, like the camera is just too far away to use the better ones, but not far enough where you don't really notice.

Can you please be more specific? Besides the "no self-shadowing on grass", I can't see any downgrade.

Idk. Environments and the view distance feel like they are not as sharp as they should be. As I said, I won't judge until I play it.

Some info in the latest Famitsu (translated by @VSXIII)

FF15: Included in this week's magazine is a shot of Noctis. The red pupils and "glitter" that surround him make their return.

FF15: There is a weapon ability called "Jump." Unclear if it's a boost or an actual attack name, and which weapon.

FF15: Gladiolus gets wind of info that subduing a Behemoth gets you money. He tells the others, and they go to engage the monster in battle.

FF15: During quests, the HUD will display your objective and also highlight the general area where the quest can be completed.

YES.gif the red eyes live!

I love neat little story justifications like this for encounters. Instead of "Oh look an enemy blocks your path".

I think I prefer the old character designs. Something about the more down to earth style (at least for a FF game).

"During quests, the HUD will display your objective and also highlight the general area where the quest can be completed."

MMO-style quests.
Also why the fuck would Noctis and co. need money?

Gotta get money to fix that car.

Something to do with the seizure of the crystals affecting their wealth?

Hey a man and his crew has got to eat and get some supplies if they just escaped the city without any much money to take with them out of a rush. And plus if they ever did try to claim his "title" or what not then I am sure they'd be putting a big bulls eye on them, being hunted and all.

:p

It says general area, so at least it looks like you still have to search for the objective a bit.
Still, let's hope these quests are more meaty than "kill x/collect y" like DA:I/Xenoblade.

My favorites are Current Noctis and Ignis (without those MJ gloves) and Old Prompto and Gladio.

Yeah, Noctis and Prompto both look somewhat less plastic and perfect now, which I appreciate (Prompto's hair looks fucking stupid though).

I feel like that has to do with the lighting or something though. Everyone looks more plasticy in the old shot, but I still think everyone's design looked better befire except maybe Prompto which is debatable in my mind.

People are complaining about the graphics?
This is clearly the most ambitious Japanese game in development, and also the most impressive jrpg game for awhile, im not sure what standards would be reasonable for this game/hardware :/

after reading a few comments, if most people are not doing that, then nevermind.

I don't think it's that, the old faces simply looked too smooth and barely had any blemishes.

I would guess becaue their homeland was invaded and they have no way of getting money...?

I'm guessing the car breaking down was an unexpected financial burden and it probably caused them to spend most of the money they brought for the trip.

No, all the faces look too smooth in every version we've seen of the game. It's only the E3 2013 CG where we see extremely detailed faces with blemishes.

That Jump ability may be for the spear weapon. But we've seen that the spear weapon has the "Spiral Thrust" ability, dunno if this means that weapons can have multiple abilities.

And I like that quests highlight the general area. Of course, this doesn't say anything about the quality of the quests, but we'll see.
