Meh

Not outright bad like the Antman trailer, but nothing interested me.

You'd think a trailer about a superhero team would show some actual interaction in that superhero team.

Dude you just named two movies that really fall apart. Please please tell me how GOTG falls apart upon rewatch and TDK and TDKR do not.

GOTG follows its own internal logic. TDK and TDKR do not.

There have been countless threads ripping those movies since they came out. Pointed out illogical jumps ad naseum.

Please explain how GOTG falls apart.

I watched and enjoyed TDR rises in the cinema twice, didn't feel the urge to rewatch GoTG. TDKR is awful in rewatch in all respects. Even if it was a genuinely good movie it would be pretty boring on rewatch due to extremely slow build up of Bruce's character.

I like that Reed has all these restraints on him, as if to keep him from falling apart or something.

Man, Sue Storm is SUCH a downgrade from the previous films.

The problem is that they expected Jessica Alba to be able to read lines convincingly, and that's just not something she's capable of. I'll happily stick with Kate Mara.

I'm watching this because Whiplash guy

You know I really like Whiplash and I thought he did a fine job, BUT for some reason he has this face that I just really want to punch. It's totally irrational but every time I see his face I just want someone to punch him. Hmm, maybe that's why I enjoyed Whiplash so much...

Huh I didn't even notice that. Susan's costume is noticeably more fit around her body than Johnny's and Reed's, most likely to tie in with her invisibility powers. Her torso also has some kind of darker colored mesh that goes from her neck to just above her waist.

Kate Mara > Alba any day. At least Mara can actually carry a scene

i don't think fantastic four needs to have acting chops at all. most of the super heroes movies are about eye candy and explosions.Atleast that is what i see. I understand your point though if serious acting is required.

I highly doubt Trank is interested in actors who can't handle a fairly intense performance. Not expecting high art, but I do expect a far more personal and emotionally challenging movie than either of those previous movies.

Well Trank was saying that he's way into body-horror, and I mean Reed's powers... they're pretty fucked up! I doubt he'd be able to maintain total control this early on. Makes sense that he'd need help keeping himself together, or to keep himself from going too far.

With Johnny, he has these little vents on his suit, probably to keep him from internalizing the heat too much or something.

I feel like I understand the function for both their costumes - Sue's isn't quite so obvious. I don't think those white/silver dots around her suit are purely cosmetic - maybe like mo-cap dots or something to track her if she goes invisible or something? I dunno.

If they were casting Sue Storm based purely on looks them Alice Eve would have been the obvious choice.

However she can't act any better then Alba.

Is that Tim Blake Nelson?

Yup. He plays Harvey Elder.

Wut? The MCU movies are packed with good actors. Some of the movies would be utter failures if they didn't cast the right actors (RDJ, for example, but I'd argue for others, as well). I'm not even referring to "serious acting". Iron Man would be a failure if the actor couldn't pull off the charisma and sense of humor. Captain America wouldn't work if Chris Evans couldn't embody virtue AND a little bit of existential angst, while still seeming like a real human being. Thor would suck if Chris Hemsworth couldn't give us a cocky but likeable character. And so on and so forth (Loki is a huge success because of Hiddleston).

A good actor can elevate a poorly written character, and do wonders with a well written character. The opposite does not apply.

Alba was awful. Awful awful awful.

Looking at that, they don't get their powers from an outerspace adventure where they get hit by cosmic rays?

I'm disappointed now.

sounds like it's because of a trip to the negative zone now, which honestly isn't that crazy of a change. it works well if they are going to be setting up Annihilus for a sequel.
