Hating on u and then comparing it to an obviously joke Kanye track is ridiculous. Album is sick, not what I was expecting based on the singles, but damn it's good. Wonder if it's commercial enough to actually grab people like GKMC
You can quote me if you gonna talk. It's a shitty song. Don't let your stannery fool you.

u isn't something you're going to be bumping in your car, but it made me have to pause the album after. Fucking hell, that was something. Just pure emotion. I suppose if all you care about from music is a banger, I can understand how you would hate it.

I fucking love the way "I remember you was conflicted..." just keeps building throughout.

No way. It'll have a good first week of sales and plummet.
Agreed. Although I imagine it's going to get some very high critical acclaim. Especially in light of critics loving D'Angelo's album a few months ago.

Twitter seems positive about a handful of tracks but I'd imagine many folks won't feel this. Too left. Too many instruments that kids never heard of (you know, like saxophones and trumpets). Generation wise I think this is the moment that ensures Drake no longer has competition. He owns this generation. Obviously I'm not a Drake fan, just saying he's the Hov of these kids, speaking about shit they want to hear and giving them "turn up"...

Critics want to mention that they miss when hip hop was rappin’
Motherfucker if you did, then Killer Mike'd be platinum

This is beautiful so far on my first listen. I can see I'm going to have fun over the next few months peeling back the sonic layers.

Love the jazzy and funk feel to most of the songs. I can see this turning off certain rap fans who come to get "turnt up" this feels like a more grown up album.

The sort you need to put down as an artist if you want to consider yourself someone that matters.

Its sitting there in spotify can't wait to listen

from what people are saying its sounding like an instant classic. No TDE features on the tracklist though??

Anyone else get Radiohead - Pyramid Song vibes from how much a dolla cost? Seems like the same chord progression or something

i'm late to the party here but just realised this has dropped a week early. I have had an internet blackout over the weekend

Listened through a few times now, overall I like it, there's a lot to it in both content and production so going to have to let it stew for awhile. On first listen I wasn't sure, now the only song I'll actively skip is For Free? The rest will depend on the mood I'm in.

Love it. What an album!

Going to listen to this a whole lotta times (and make my own edits to DJ for some of the tracks)

Institutionalized is literally the best track Kendrick Lamar has ever made, fell in love with it and can't get over it.

Just read this as the song is halfway through and I was trying to place what it sounded like. You're right it sounds very Pyramid Songish. The horn and the piano line throughout the song.

So this is overall much closer to the jazzy, soulful vibe of Section 80 than GKMC? Praise Jesus. Can't wait to get out of work to listen to this.
