Heh, Parry + Molotovs was my strat here too!

What's the music box and where do you get it?
Nice. I also threw oil and literally never took a shot from the beast. Just stood back and threw 2 molotovs and it was over.

The music box is
up all the ladders near the big pig in the sewers. A young girl (Father Gs daughter) gives it to you...sad story. Supposed to randomly stun the boss if you play it.

Goddamn that fight scared the shit out of me lol

Well, turns out (first boss)
Cleric Beast has a one hit kill move where he just beats you into the floor over and over until you die. Fun stuff.

Time to grind more blood vials I guess :/

That makes sense. I randomly got blood echoes recovered a few times.

I just need to figure out where to go next. Mob around the fire with something big on the other side of that door. Can't open it.

Go up the stairs on the left side of the bonfire-thingamajig. There's a path that takes you to the other side of the door.

There's a part where you can climb up a ladder to reach a shortcut gate back to the area with the circular fountain where you first see the dogs and right at the top of that ladder is a window you can talk to a little girl through. Agree to find her mother (Viola) and she'll give you a Music Box that her father {Gascoigne} always liked to hear.

If you use it during the battle, it stuns him as he clutches his head. Does not work on the Beast Form
Cool. I actually had it in my inventory and then forgot to use it lol.

I cannot for the life of me beat Cleric Beast. I have the cane. I keep trying to run behind him and use R2. I can get one hit in, maybe. I try to run away. He does a wide sweeping attack and lowers half my health. Shit is infuriating.

If you're looking at where the mob i from where you came from, there is a path to the left up a small stair case with a door that leads to the other side of the banging door.

The amount of farming I'm forced to do for health is kind of lame. It's more of a downgrade from estus flasks if anything else. At least in DSII they made health consumables cheap enough to stock pile.

You gotta get the timing down for the stun + riposte. Massive damage. Also, molotovs

I have the insight and I have beaten the first two bosses but I cant for the life of me find where to buy the stupid bell.

Tips?

The Beckoning Bell is waiting for you in the Hunter's Dream. Some messengers by the Doll will give it to you.

For the Resonant Bell, you need to purchase it using insight. There's a merchant in the Hunter's Dream that will only appear if you have 10 insight who sell it.

I'm in the same boat as you. I just can't seem to know when to dodge his stupid attacks. Every time I try, he hits me.

When he does that
big slam into the ground where he pulls his hands out like an earthquake, there's a good window of time to run behind him at hit him a few times before that happens

Half your health?

Do you have the first armor set?

It helps immensely.

pretty sure i got the bell at the base camp from the little ghost things on the stairs???I could be worng, Ive been playing all night and losing it.

HAHA thank you both.

I saw the insight shop but it would not let me purchase anything till I got the first bell.

There's a messengers thing just outside one of the three doors of the house. Easy to miss. Sells things for insight. I think it only appears once you've obtained 10 insight.

Alright, got the game.

Killed the first boss (the one that you would consider the first boss) relatively quickly. I mostly failed trying to riposte it until I decided to go for the old dodge and poke strategy.

I started using the cane which I found nifty if a tad weak. Bought the Kirkhammer... just gave it a try or two and well, in it's trick mode it packs a wallop. It sorta feels like going shieldless in the old souls games, except Bloodborne enemies are much, much faster.

Does that work with the ogre bruhs that are on the bridge? I shoot them and they go down on their knees but when I press R1 I just do a normal strike and they get up almost instantly.

you usually need to like touching them for it to work. It can be weird sometimes.

I think this glitched on me as well cause I died to those two bastards and never saw my soul, er, blood things appear and neither had glowing eyes when i got back. Maybe the birds down the other side?

Possibly. I saw a playthough on Youtube in which the guy lost his blood just as he was coming down the stairs prior to the area with the bonfire. He gave up on finding them but having killed one of the guys at the bonfire, he got them back. That's quite a distance between the point he lost them and the enemy he regained them from.

Man
Blood-Starved Beast
was hard. I could get it down to
whatever the health is when the AOE poison effect starts
then between my panic and the health drain i'd get caught up in that grab move and get killed. All came down to taking my time and parrying with my pistol. Gotta go farm Blood Vials now because I used all my stock lol

Sooo where too after
Blood-Starved Beast? I assume the Gatling gun dude is still shooting fucks and I'd like to kill him on general principle but I assume that wont lead to the next area will it?

FYI to everyone after beating Father. Try to go back to Tomb of Odeon periodically...

Also
Gyula
is a fucking badass...having so much trouble. Im lvl 28.

Where do you get all your insight? I have one left and im scared to use it.

Did you get the Small resonant bell yet? If not, you should probably not be spending your insight, and instead save it up until you get 10, when then you can join other peoples games, kill bosses in co-op and gain one insight point each co-op bout, which costs you zero insight.

You can cheese him if you want. Right when you get up there just start blasting him with a gun and don't stop. He should get pushed off.

My first time playing these type of games, I thought you had to fight the best with your bear hands. I saw it was was impossible, so I roamed some of the map looking for weapons. I felt dumb for my first 20 minutes of the game.

Well I didn't have a weapon for the first 2 hours. I beat that werewolf with my bare hands.

Ok seriously,
why isn't the bath messenger updating. I've killed 4 bosses and all I can buy is the kirkhammer and repeating pistol. I want a new weapon damn it!

Had time to play some more:

- After like 3 hours playing I just now came to realize that you can use your gun to "parry" enemies, lol. And the timing seems to be more forgiving than in Dark Souls, fighting regular enemies just became a whole lot easier

-I got the hammer-sword thing from the trailers!!!. I love the concept but was a bit dissapointed with the damage, specially the hammer transformation which doesn't seem to be doing much more damage than my starting weapon. But I think I'll still stick with just because of how cool it is

From the reviews it seems like Bloodborne has far less weapon variety than the Souls games, but makes up for it with more options to customize them plus the whole transforming thing. I remember reading a review that said they found around 12 weapons.
If the number of bosses is close to the one of the souls games, you won't be getting a new weapon in the shop after every boss
