So whats up with that large brown door, which is by a cliff next to where the grand cathedral is. You approach, blue phantom arm grabs you --> dead. Am I missing something?

That freaked me out when it happened to me. You need an item to pass safely.

A
Tonsil Stone
that you'll get from
a shuttered npc
in
Forbidden Woods
at the latest.

I was lucky and got mine from the
window npc
next to
the Central Yharnam lamp
.

Finally got the guide in and it's beautiful.

I guess im at the end, i'm just avoiding running through this gate cause I don't want it to be over :( . At least I can look at the guide when I get it tomorrow.

Anyone have a glyph for a high blood echo run chalice? My Isz chalice nets me about 350-400k per run (only have the 10% moon rune). I remember seeing someone posting one that had like a total in the millions but can't seem to find it anymore.

Any of the doors with red lanterns in front of them will give you the item after a certain point.

Got close to beating BSB ;_;

I should take a break and go somewhere else.

Wow that's rough. You were very good for 2/3 of the fight. Much better than I ever was in fact (I was using the threaded cane though which was awful to use in both forms against it).

I would recommend trying to stay locked on in his final form and try and dash backwards when he goes crazy instead of normal rolling. It is too slow imo and you usually get caught. Plus, a good dash will allow you to get at least a hit in with the range you have on the axe.

I would like to mention that beating Amelia after Rom completely screwed up Unseen Village. The sky went back to night time, the badass music is back, and all the respawning enemies are gone.

You can get the top level blood echo rune pretty easily once you get halfway through the N
ightmare of Mensis.

Once you pull the lever and drop the mother brain into the abyss, a new cage appears in the chandelier room that has giant holes in the floor(i.e. the room after the hunter, down the staircase, where there are 2 big guys, 2 crossbow guys, and a tiny guy). Walk up to the brain (which does nothing except stare at you without blinking and do the "contact" emote. after about a minute your character switches which hand is pointing straight up in the air, and you will receive the rune.

If you killed the brain already, you can still go down there and do the motion, and you will still receive the rune.

Can I get some tips on Defiled Boss #1? It seems easy to parry, but that just isn't doing the job on its when once its at half health and supercharges i get taken out in one hit. i've tried time and time again and no matter how close i get, bang, dead.

Yeah as I mentioned I didn't mean to lash out at you or anything but between what I've seen in co-op and what's been suggested, my argument is unless you want to spend 10+ minutes per attempt, most of which is just clearing spiders, then so be it but it doesn't make Rom any less dangerous on his own, so avoiding the spiders are just one more obstacle in the fight, one that's easy to avoid if you never stop moving. Clearing the spiders in the first phase is fine if you want to inflict the most free damage on him. Me personally I've never been able to do more than 50% of his health with these free hits but for those struggling this could be huge for progress.

I agree, ignore the spiders. Well, in chalice i might have cleared a couple before I started, but there's really no need in my opinion.

Something that annoys me a bit about chalice dungeons is the goddamn tick/mosquito monsters spawning in areas where you performed visceral attacks. It kinda discourages the player from using visceral attacks, which is really strange to me. Nowadays if I see a monster in an area I'm likely to pass through again, and have the opportunity for a visceral, I tend to avoid it because it's probably less annoying to kill the monster normally than facing those horrible Cainhurst bugs (that also cannot even be visceral'ed as far as I know).

*gasp* Never!

What's next for me in her questline after killing Henryk? I really just don't want to miss anything with her, she rocks.

Once you kill
Rom
she will be outside the great cathedral, talk to her then go inside and have a fight. Once he's dead go out and talk to her and she'll give you the item to buy her armor and weapon as well as a rune.

I would love to see some video of you fighting the harder bosses with so little endurance. Maybe I'm overestimating it's importance in BB vs the other souls games where getting to 40 was usually an essential part of any melee build.

I mean, sure 1-3 hits but it's mainly about being able to fast dodge 3 times to get into position to land those hits and then dodge away again.

Which boss do you want me to tell you my strategy?

Here's a strategy I posted pages back helping a Gafer stuck on Headless BLB and beating it on the first try.

When he's doing his air aoe attack, run up and 1 hit him.

Get close to him (camera pans up). He will do 4 possible things:
1) If you move to close to his hind legs, he will do a foot stomp. Don't do this.
2) He jumps away. Repeat.
3) Jump and body pound. Just dodge back and run up 1 hit. Repeat.
4) Fist hand pounds. Dodge 2X toward right to his side, move toward his thigh, attack 2X and dodge back out. Repeat.

Once the worm comes out, don't be scare and stick to the plan.

Nowhere in this strategy do I run out of stamina with 12 END. At worst, you could equip stamina runes and the hunter covenant rune.

Some bastard just invaded me in that nightmare place! First time I've seen it 8). Rest assured, he won't be coming back 8) Felt fucking awesome, thinking he could do me in the little dipstick! ILL be taking this 8k blobs off you ta very much.

Been a good days progress today. Rom down, any number of Hunters down and now upto lvl 72. Not sure which avenue to attack next. The game truly is a remarkable experience and Lord only knows what a sequel might look and play like in a few years!

Yeah, I've previously tried staying locked on, but usually dodged into his swing frenzy, which is why I tried not being locked on :/

Finally beat that fucking dog in
Defiled Chalice
. I'm breezing through NG+ for the most part but it's probably the boss I died the most. Now I'm actually afraid for
Defiled Amygdala

so in my second run, i've collected a bunch of blood dregs. what do they do? anything besides get that one gesture from
the queen in cainhurst?

So, before I enter the final battle....is it worth killing any of these NPC's? Seems rather evil I suppose....or even killing the doll....

Nope. I would say it's one of the least important stat. I beat the game & chalice twice with END at 12 & 15. It's really only important for PVP.

Stamina is the most important stat in the game. More dodging, more chances to swing your weapon after you dodge into place. It hard caps at 40 End so unless you are intentionally going low level I don't see why not bringing it to 40.

"I call it...the Asthmatic build."

Not sure what you are implying. Let's say you have 40 END, you can get 8-10 swings out, but how bosses are you going to let you swing more than 1-3x, especially later chalices, before beating you to a pulp. Thus, having more END does nothing and is wasted. Now, if you have no other place to spends echos and/or love PVP, sure, put it as much as you want into END.

Seems like there's mixed thoughts on this. I might just take it up to 25 or something, but avoid going to somewhere like 40.

So I think the game has just jerked me out of 800K souls. I'm trying to fight the three Yharnam guys after losing to them once on NG+ I go back tot he fight and it just freezes. So I use a Hunter's Mask so I don't get killed twice and lose all my souls.

First thing, if you die and lose your souls. Then use a Hunters's Mask do your souls vanish?

Two, I tried quiting the game and going back to Hunter's Dream and I still get the slow down glitch when I go through the mist to the boss fight.

Honestly, I'm level 150+ so I don't care too much about all the souls, but it's just principle, I was just exploring an area for 3 hours and happen to amass that many souls, die once, and then the game glitches me. I'm ready to just break the disc and be done with this shit. Feels like such a waste of time and I didn't die, the game just f'n wants to infuriate me. Seriously, what a way to ruin a great experience -_-

R1 R1 L2. Was easy to parry after doing two hits. Seemed to always attack after being hit twice. Just kept repeating that. Don't let them get the fire paper on either if you can.

hnnnghhh cleared out the forbidden wilderness but can't find the boss and too pussy to look for him with like 4 levels of souls on me...

1) where is the boss here? i found a big warthog and everything, cant'f find boss though

2) where's the shortcut? man am i tired of wandering through baby blighttown to get there

3) just double checking since im scared to fuck up a plat by some weird thing: i can totally use the red jeweled brooch & gold pendant rite

I have to say, the Chalice Dungeons aren't terribly fun.

I'm stuck at
Rom
in Pthumeru dungeon... and am losing patience with going on.

Platinumed the game at 30 (I think I completed the story at 25), and felt like I had more than enough (used a stamina rune though).

I agree with Knitoe in that later bosses will not let you swing too many attacks, and evasions takes so little of stamina this time.

He's easy. Just can't use the ignore little spider tactic. Stand behind a pillars to block Rom air AOE. Bait and kill the little spiders. Once path is relatively clear, kick Rom's ass. Repeat.

Tip would be stay behind the pillars to avoid the ice spikes of doom.. then pick off the spiders 1 by 1..

Edit: ^Beaten like a dog..? werewolf..? weredog..? I don't know where I'm going with this..

Found him easier then the normal one.

Slap on a bolt paper and go to town. Fight last less than a minute with a one handed +10 ludwigs.

I only killed the first set of spiders.

Should I be doing Nightmare Frontier before Upper Cathedral Ward or vice versa? Also, Nightmare Frontier is the first point in the game where invasions take place right?

Makes no odds what order you do them in. yeah is the first place you will likely get invaded, I was invaded the moment I stepped through those lecture building doors

Like a lot of the hard fights the tried and true way is the tedious one that requires patience and self restraint. Kills all the adds, every time. Don't get greedy with hits, only go for a combo if he's giving you a huge opening and gtfo if you think magic is coming.

You'll beat him soon enough. Far too good against him not to luck out eventually. Also one of the hardest bosses in the game so you'll feel a lot more confident after beating it.

Actually, they are there to encourage you to use viscerals. They have a very small chance to
drop Bloodtinge gems for your gun. I imagine that if it happens in the very high depth dungeons, you can get very powerful Bloodtinge gems.
It happened to me once. Also, I find them quite easy.
Sneaking up on them is very effective.

Hmm, can't say I particularly care about
bloodtinge gems
though...

Gaf folks.

I'm lvl 112
Trying to knock out
Vicar Amelia
in NG+. I would love to get some help.

Once done I should be able to level grind with relative ease. Thanks folks!
