Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

So you get more clothes from single player, eh?

Gun unlocks too.

YES! I DID IT!
Beated the final boss with the roller, that was f*cking intense, my heart is still racing.
I'll take a break then go online.

So everyone's out for the day, and I have the house to myself until late evening. Been getting chores done around the house, and want to do a bit of yard work.

Afterwards though I'm thinking of hopping in the car and heading to Best Buy to snag a copy of Splatoon. You guys aren't helping with your positive impressions n' shit.

My girlfriend just lost connection while she was on the result screen of her last round.

Pretty sure she got the stats but that was surreal.

Nothing better than sending a seeker up the tower with a bunch of snipers on it in the Skatepark map. As a bonus, it leaves a convenient color track for you to follow up and get the last survivors or people who are just incoming.. I wish there was a convenient way to create replays/clips...I had a couple of triple and quadra kills this way...

Also, is there a way to track the status of the ranked mode unlock? Or does Nintendo just post the daily status?

I don't know if anyone noticed/mentioned this, but after completing an Amiibo Challenge with the Boy Inkling (Don't know about the Girl), his shirt disappears for a second. Interestingly, they aren't wearing Spandex shorts, but what looks like Scuba gear:

Just finished leveling up a 2 star piece of equipment that has buffs that are shockingly consistent

Tenacity, Special Charge Up, Special Saver

Why do people say that the charger is not a good weapon for Turf War? Maybe you guys don't know how to use it right, but I exclusively use charger weapons and often score over 1000. It's also an excellent support weapon.
I think they all work well. I've been killing it with the splattershot.

I love the Miiverse implementation on the game. Random Squidwards on the walls. lol

All of the emergent stuff with the graffiti is taking the concept of the Wii U's social features to their zenith imo. I was caught so off guard by a "You really like Splatoon don't you Squidward" complete with Spongebob's face that appeared on one of the walls of Arowana earlier.

I also spotted a "Splat Souls: Prepare to Dye" bit while I was painting a way up the main tower in Blackbelly Skatepark.

Really like this look for my inkling. Have my capture stuff ready to go now, so I can capture screenies tonight when I get my friends on to play. Possibly streaming too, know a few people on the fence that wanna see more.

Wrapped up single player and got all the scrolls. The campaign in this game definitely wasn't an after thought, there was a ton of variety in the levels via the different mechanics that are introduced over time. The boss fights themselves are worth playing the campaign alone. I think the only problems with the single player is sometimes recycling multiplayer maps, usually for the Octoling and missile strike missions that are in every world.

Going to try and reach level 10 tonight to do my part in getting Splat Zones open.

When is the damn ranked battles coming!!

14 hours ago the meter was at the halfway mark. 21 hours before that it was at the ~10% mark. I'd say either by the end of today or tomorrow if the progress keeps that way (and I think one region only got it today as well so it may help it)

How does the miiverse stuff work, anyway?

There is a mailbox next to the Inkopolis Tower that has a Miiverse icon on it. You can post stuff onto Miiverse from there, which includes drawings and text posts. Those posts will show up when someone interacts with you in the Plaza (and you can click a +Yeah as per usual). If you make a drawing, there's a chance that they will appear on billboards or grafitti in stages and on some walls in the Inkopolis hub.

Good to hear, I'm almost at level 10 and plan on going after single player right after.

It's a bit more complicated than roller or Splattershot. I've seen people destroy entire teams solo with them. Personally, I couldn't do much. Around 600 top.

When this was first revealed I was like "eh.. not really interested" and I felt like that up until the Global Testfires. I didn't get to play them myself, but I did get to watch some footage and was instantly hooked. Now that I've played a few hours of both multi (splat roller is currently my favorite weapon) and single player I'm really glad I bought it. I've had so much fun so far :D

I didn't like it at first but I've grown to appreciate those levels. Especially the
octoling
ones, they do an excellent job of preparing you for the multiplayer. Sure, they might not be the best for a single player campaign, but I love them as they serve that prepping purpose quite well.

I can echo this. And as a roller main, these players are my absolute bane unless I can get behind them without them noticing. Lining up those shots means they arent looking at the map. Probably.

I really love the shifts in play style between each weapon set.

Yep, this just happened to me some hours ago.

The only problem with this being a team game is that you don't feel as motivated for rematches. If you lose in Mario Kart or Smash, it's your fault and you want to prove yourself again. Here, it's just because you got saddled with a bunch of fucking newbies, so you just quit and find a new game.

CoD had the same problem, but fixed it by added all of those cool personal challenges and unlocks.

How are the amiibo challenges? Are they comparable to the story mode or something more basic? I really want more single player, but I'm hesitant about buying amiibos; never been one for action figures or collectibles.
Hope they do a sequel with a more fleshed out campaign, and don't just see it as a primarily multiplayer franchise going forward.

If I lose in Mario Kart it's because of item RNG not my skills ;)

In this game don't you level up whether you win or lose and the teams are shuffled each round so you don't have to fear being stomped by the same team as last time? Given the team shuffling feature I don't see any reason to back out of a lobby except to change weapons.

This game's community is nothing but squid puns and Squidward pictures. A community that finally appreciates Squidward!
I saw a good "Squidward DLC is inevitable" one

But I'm worried I'll be with them again :p

And yeah that's true haha, but it's more personal. You know that, but just in case everyone else in the lobby doesn't you have to show them up.

That and "this game is bareboness" are more than only one problem :P
But that's not because of this being a team game!

I'm begrudgingly starting to realize I realy like this game. Give me time lol

Its basically some of the stages of the singleplayer mode, but with a charger, a roller and the squid gives you timed challenges from what I heard (still need to use mine, only used the boy).
The stages do not change, not even enemy placement, they are the exact same thing, some turn harder becuase of the weapon though.
