Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

The only problem with this being a team game is that you don't feel as motivated for rematches. If you lose in Mario Kart or Smash, it's your fault and you want to prove yourself again. Here, it's just because you got saddled with a bunch of fucking newbies, so you just quit and find a new game.

Or you level up to 10 and wait for the Ranked Battles to open?

God damn, I don't know how to get thorough a dude with a primary defense up and 2 secondary defense ups.

It shouldn't require too many more shots, just one or two in most cases. In the firing range there is a set of targets with 1, 2 and 3 defense stickers on them so you can check the difference with your favorite weapon.

How are the amiibo challenges? Are they comparable to the story mode or something more basic? I really want more single player, but I'm hesitant about buying amiibos; never been one for action figures or collectibles.
Hope they do a sequel with a more fleshed out campaign, and don't just see it as a primarily multiplayer franchise going forward.
The Squid challenges jump from super easy and fun (perma-Kraken challenges) to nintendo hard conserve every drop of ink (limited ink challenges)

Inkling Girl challenges are just using the charger weapon, which can be fun or frustrating depending on what level you are doing. (and it makes bosses trivial, you don't even need to climb them, you can shoot the tentacle from the ground due to it's high range)

Can't speak for the Inkling Boy since I don't have it, but in those you use the Roller weapon, which I can imagine would be quite difficult due to it's short range, requiring you to go about tasks differently (especially the bosses)

It's the same story stages with some twist :
- Girl : You play with the Charger
- Boy : You play with the Roller
- Squid : Either limited ink or Kraken

There is 15 stages per Amiibo + all the bosses.

I've only done the squid challenges so far, but it's basically 15 of the single player missions, plus bosses, with different limitations (e.g. 3:00 time limit but you have perma-Kraken, limited ink, etc.)

I didn't like it at first but I've grown to appreciate those levels. Especially the
octoling
ones, they do an excellent job of preparing you for the multiplayer. Sure, they might not be the best for a single player campaign, but I love them as they serve that prepping purpose quite well.
Yeah I got hype as fuck for the first
Octoling
level. Being like the multiplayer is a good thing to me lol

The issue being we had the same weapon, and he was on our turf. I couldn't push him out. He just kept killing me.

Watching my brother play, I am convinced that the Sprinkler sub weapon is hilariously good.

- Obviously splatters a wide area with your team's ink
- Can be used to lure out nearby people and depending on where the sprinkler is placed, can fool even really good people into thinking that's you or a team mate distracting them
- Sets up silly camp shenanigans
- Can be used to juke people seeing something thrown their direction

On stuff like Saltspray Rig & Blackbelly, it's damn near game changing at times.

after 30 hours playtime I can say Splatoon will definitely be a GOTY contender for me. I'm blown away by how much fun this game is. The gameplay is unique and feels so fresh. I'm in love

Yup. If it weren't for MH4U this would be GOTY. It may even surpass MH4U if the future content is great.

I tried to stay away from using the roller, finally tried it out and had a 10-0 game. Okay roller, you win.

Got to rank 10. I'm a pretty big fan of the Roller Kracken. Got a So Hot streak on the way to 10, too.

The game is really fun to play casually. They did a great job keeping it light, but I assume that it will turn off a lot of the really hardcore competitive types.

I keep disconnecting today, not sure why, it worked flawlessly before. I'm guessing the lack of mentions means this something on my end right? :l

So how do you unlock new gear?

Only made it past the first world of the campaign though. Which is giving me a lot of Super Mario Galaxy vibes. First bossfight is fun as well.

Finished story mode and holy heck the final boss was a blast to do, just wish there was more moments like those in single player.

Anyway I am kinda disappointed by how short story mode is and I do hope that they add more with DLC.

In other news I took on a few on-line matches and won, though in one I kept thinking that I was dead when I wasn't so I was standing like an idiot... still won though. :|

But yeah this game is starting to grow on me.

I think I'm finally adjusting to the gyro controls after an entire day of playing lol.
I would still love an option for full stuck and gyro simultaneously. Such a weird option.
