You had fun playing through Xen?

I don't understand how the Xbone even sold 11 million units so far, it should be like 3-4 mil of the die hard Stathams only. There is pretty much no reason to own one with the PS4 available.
I can only ever look at this thread in small doses before I start to get angry reading the posts.

Naughty Dog has been a fairly high quality developer for like 19 years. I'm not worried about the future to be honest. No one stays on top forever unfortunately, no matter how good they are.

Things change. So many brands/companies/manufacturers today for example that are at the high end of the scale have not always been there, and they won't be there forever,
Remember how popular Sony TVs were? Different story today. Are you old enough to remember when Apple was an obscure brand that no one gave a shit about?
You remember how relevant Konami and Capcom were. What about Rare? Rare at their time were at the top of their game, like seriously top, now look....

I'm talking game play specifically, I don't know I guess I was expecting something different game play/combat combat wise.
Both Skyrim and Morrowind have an impressive open world, but overall, the games are very bland, generic and boring. The characters and story are uninteresting and the combat is a mess.

This. Everything that has a beginning has an end. Every single thing. I don't know how they will go out but they will go out.

Witcher 3 is better in every aspect IMO.
My man.- Nintendo handhelds are a joke by any modern technological standard in mobile/handheld. They aren't good handhelds.
- PS Vita is the best handheld ever created for video games, the PS Vita is one of the biggest successes/achievements in terms of handheld entertainment (resolution and CPU/GPU SoC are starting to feel outdated though, but for 2012 tech and for a device with a low RRP, it's good)
- PSP is the second best handheld ever created for video games
Blitzball is the best minigame ever.
I don't understand the appeal of Halo or Gears. They both seem like generic sci-fi shooters. I couldn't get into Persona 3, I've tried several times. I like City Folk more than New Leaf. I thought Tony Hawk Underground 2 was alright.
In response...
The PS4 is the sorriest example for a console generation leader to date. Minor convenience features don't make up for subscription based multiplayer, and PSN is still fucking terrible compared to PC services to boot. The tech-at-time of release is weaker than any major PS system to date, and the first party exclusives I've played (not played Bloodborne or the Order) have been mediocre at best.
I know the PS4 is in the hearts of many around here, but it's a box of average-at-best. The all hail savior Sony nonsense that circled E3 2013 for maintaining the status quo was nauseating... Well, with plus required for MP, they didn't even maintain the status quo.
I think the Xbox One is worse, but that's hardly controversial.

I feel similar, though I am pretty damn hyped for Mario Maker.I care less and less about Nintendo products as the years go on. All the hype around Splatoon is reminding me that I just don't give a shit, even if I do have the hardware to play the games.
Note: I'm not looking for anyone to sell me on Splatoon or any other Nintendo game that I feel doesn't deserve the hype (most of them, to be honest).
Gave up on KOTOR, got stuck on tattoine and the story did not engage that much either.
Splatoon is not the second coming of christ.
Just a fun multiplayer shooter on a system that does not usually get this kind of games.

I partially agree with this statement. I am interested in some stuff; mainly Xenoblade X, Zelda U, and Starfox, but some fans act as if the games are God's gift to gaming. I played 3D world and I was expecting it to be some incredible game by the way people ragged on about it but I wasn't really sold on it and honestly got tried of playing it.I care less and less about Nintendo products as the years go on. This is a stop gate generation for the new frontier of gaming: virtual reality.Completely agree. Aside from Bloodborne the PS4 has been frankly pathetic. And I want it to be good I bought the damn thing. But there's nothing there from Sony's vaunted first party developers, and they just announced that they will have a "sparse" 1st party lineup again. And even Bloodborne is just Dark Souls, albeit with a better setting, combat and enemy design, and other things. And that kinda extends to this generation as a whole. There's been nothing "new" this generation from any of the 1st party developers that usually pave the way, and 3rd parties are mostly pumping out what they always do. Overall I'd say this is probably the worst start to a generation in modern video games (NES on)
Isn't that what everyone is saying? Just that it's really good, albeit lacking in content right now and missing some basic features of online games? I don't think this is that controversial.

So I guess I am just annoyed by some overly zealous fans.

Konami, Capcom, Rare? Each of them has it's own (bad) story. Especially Rare.
The good thing about ND is, that they have creative freedom, no hard deadlines, no issues about the budget of their game, and as I've already said... the right people on top of the company. I see a great future for them.
A lot of games are really good and have solid gameplay. Donkey Kong is fun and I am not even a big fan of 2D platformers. But like you said, the hyperbole from some make it look like you've missed out on the greatest thing ever.Well I don't find it really good tbh.
I think it's a pretty decent shooter with a lot of style, but nothing mindblowing.
Maybe this is my problem too.
Every game that comes for the WiiU is treated by it's fanbase like it's a life changing experience that should not be missed, when some of then are just "Ok" (IMO)
I really hate when a game has literally ten thousand different materials for me to collect to create a myriad of shit. I've got enough shit in...I don't even know where I'm keeping it, but enough shit to fill an aisle in WalMart, and yet I'm still lacking some ingredients for some spell, oil, erection pill, or whatever.
Seriously is this something anyone actually enjoys? This is why I like dumb and simple sometimes.
Splatoon will not have the staying power of Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. I felt this way ever since Nintendo first announced the game. By the end of August, most gamers will have shelved or traded-in/sold Splatoon and moved on to other games. The upcoming additional content won't help.
You'll be wrong. I guarantee you'll be wrong. Three weeks ago I would've agreed, but playing is believing.
This is what crafting weapons / armour feels like in Diablo 3 for me.
diablo 3? are you kidding me? theres like 4 crafting items.
I think The Order: 1886 will be one of the most disappointing titles of 2015.
Like Infamous Second Son, people will gush over the graphics and technical prowess during release, but the game will very quickly be forgotten as the missed opportunity it was in favor of the much more interesting titles that follow it later that year.
And I say this as a PS4 only owner, who loves everything Ready At Dawn has made, and will be more than happy to eat crow if I'm wrong.
Hope I'm wrong, but that's just how I see things turning out.
