Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

on the flipside, it's super awkward when all 4 of you paint around the spawn at saltspray rig in the beginning.

That just means it's done quick. I love Saltspray because you can then fan out like oceans eleven in 3 ways, so I usually hang back and follow the last person, especially if the other team is trying to take the bottom dock.

So some questions:

1) How fast would I be going if I could get 4x Fast Squid on all my gear? 8)

2) Has anyone had good results with the Squid Beakon? For awhile when I was playing around with the Krak-On Roller, for some matches I tried putting some beakons down, but they're so expensive! I often did better pretending that I didn't have a sub weapon. I basically would end up painting around, finding a safe spot, sitting in my ink for about 3 seconds before I could put down a beakon, then spend another 3 seconds refilling my ink to make sure I could continue painting. Kraken form is still legit though.

3) What kind of Blasters are there? I like the standard Blaster but I never seem to score very high with them (I basically OHKO or 2HKO anyone though). I just unlocked the Rapid Blaster and hope to play around with it tonight.

4) Anyone still having a lot of trouble with Bubbler? I've actually come across two problems now that players are a little more savvy:
a) Bubbler cannot contribute towards inking the floor at all. Nearly every other special can spread ink or do so indirectly by killing enemies. Echolocator doesn't help with inking either, but it can let you know if you can sneak away to ink somewhere else.
b) It's possible to run away from someone with a Bubbler and wait it out, and you wouldn't be much worse off. You can run away from other specials, but those specials spread ink so you'll eventually have to come back to re-ink, and you can't run away from the Echolocator.

5) Is the gold Aerospray as powerful as I think it is? At my level, the Inkstrike tends to be bundled with weapons that have a poor rate of fire and low ink capacity (Jet Squelcher and Splattershot Pro), so I sometimes go through a match only doing 1 Inkstrike (sometimes not even doing any Inkstrikes at all!). Aerosprays have a fast rate of fire, which means they charge up the special really fast, which means the gold Aerospray is the fastest way to get Inkstrikes in the game, which imo is the strongest special in the game. I didn't even consider the sub weapon, which I think are the invisible mines.

Edit: whoops that should be 4x not 5x for some reason I thought it was 1 main ability and 4 sub abilities.

Is there an ability that kills you if you manage to ink someone else before? Because I'm still trying to wrap me head around what happened in a match yesterday. I wasn't hit by another weapon because there were no indications on my screen of decreasing health. It just happened. Splat.

Just like those teleport master, haha.

I'm helping my family install a boiler after the last one exploded. I'm probably going to be jumping in between that and this crack now. I wanna hit level 12 or 13 before the end of the day.
Oh man that sucks!
Well best of luck with that.

I should do a friend list overhaul cause not many peeps are playing splatoon for me

They're not optimal for painting. Use them to cover your tracks and setup some decent choke point traps. Usually the best way I find using them is in areas where we have turf claimed since it means a quick recharge is possible.

Don't place mines in when someone is aiming down at you since most people will notice you making a placement. If you're being chased, lure them around a corner.

Makes sense. I guess they're better for defense than anything else. Which isn't a problem, just different.

I kept getting wrecked by a guy who just dropped an ink mine whenever i got near him. If I was right on top of him, it was already too late, I was dead. Also if you see someone trying to climb up to a height that you're on, you can drop a mine at the top and by the time the animation of them getting up onto the ledge finishes it'll be too late for them.
Good info, thanks. Makes sense to put mines on top of the skate park.

I haven't gotten any weapons with mines yet, but I see people stick them on ledges or behind grates.
Behind grates is evil! Hahaha I'll have to try that sometime.

After picking up the game last night, my initial impressions...

Splatoon is pretty good, but I'm not really losing my pants over it like a lot of people.

- It desperately needs more maps. I know they are coming (one of them today!) but launching with so few maps is pretty perplexing
- I really really wish I could play online with my girlfriend. The 1v1 mode is cool, but I'd get a lot more mileage if we could both play online. I don't even care if the framerate tanks.
- Presentation is great
- Net code seems great so far
- Controls are good (gyro off, obviously)
- Not really a fan of only holding one primary weapon. Kind of limits things.

Based on early impressions, I think 8/10 is apt.

Well after reaching level 20 and playing through some single player, I desire to play with GAF to see if there are many battle-hardened souls who are worthy.

How do I join? I don't have any GAF members on my friendslist.

I think once they take away the two maps per four hours thing, I'll buy the game. Dumbest thing ever. I NEVER play games for longer than four hours at a time, usually closer to 1-2 hours. My opportunities for play time are limited to a couple of hours late at night, so I would get frustrated by the lack of variety.
A lot of the variety comes from the weapons. Even on the same map each game is played differently based on who is on your team. One game you have chargers (snipers) on your team covering you and laying down paths. The next game you're facing those chargers and you have to play differently. One game you're always in control of the high ground and the next game you never have it.

Had to go work or I would've kept playing earlier Gotham. I was lagging pretty bad as well so I may have quit anyways.

Add gaffers, join their matches (asking if there is a specific lobby/person to join is best), prepare to rage.

Please add me anyone NNID: Speedwagon
