Needed to buy some DVDs for my company, and I saw the game behind the counter at The Source. When asked if I could pick it up, the guys said, "sure!"

Not until they scanned it and a big ass X telling, "DO NOT SELL", did they refuse to hand it over. So close!

I was so close ;_;

I think that some are forgetting that this is an open world that dwarfs Arkham City and that there is a ton to do outside of a 12 hour main story.

shouldve grabbed the game and left money on the counter and ran the fuck out

I was worried the Batmobile wasn't going to live up to expectations and would be forced on the player, sadly though it seems to be pretty big negative on the overall experience. Still looks pretty fun though from the gameplay I've seen.

Does anyone know if predator and combat challenges are still in? I hope so!

So undecided on whether to get this or Witcher 3 😐

Both are or will be (batman isn't out yet) great games. Depends what you like more, RPG or action games.

If your a fan of batman, get batman first and get Witcher 3 later. Likewise, if you like RPG's more, get pitcher 3 now and Batman later. It's not like the game will disappear in a few months.

Nothing like each other. W3 is much more open ended and is set in dark fantasy themes with probably the bigger better story and variety with weakness being combat variety and polish.

Batman is way a more focused, shorter game that gets high praise for it's combat, action and pedigree (Batman universe).

You get both.

I respect Van Ord's reviews (Gamespot) and if he says this game is a 7/10, then I'm waiting for a price drop in a few months.

I still have to play through Witcher 3 anyway and I'm loving that game.

I've always thought the batmobile stuff looked fantastic so it's all good with me.

Heh, well damn, not even a problem!

I'm still hyped as hell. I'm super worried about the story/script falling apart. I really felt Arkham City was a mess. And I don' entirely get why it got the scores it did. I mean I get it, because the gameplay is perfection. And large portions of the game were amazing. But I still felt that not only did the story kind of shit the bed once we hit the mid way point, the boss encounters also took a dip. Thought the overall resolution felt lackluster. I just walked away feel let down (especially considering Asylum was such a tightly written masterpiece).

So I am very worried RockSteady has an issue with their writing. But that said, gameplay is king for me. And I'm salivating at a Next Gen Batman title, and that perfect gameplay again. And who knows, maybe I won't even agree with GameSpot. Could end up loving the story, and the Batmobile stuff too. I already bought this on Steam. Waiting for the pre-load.

I bought a GTX-980 in anticipation for this and the Witcher 3. I hope the game runs fine, and the Smoke stuff isn't a massive FPS drain (like PhysX was for Arkham City). I guess if is, I can just turn it off. But I would love if this game just runs buttery smooth, with no kinks.

EDIT:

I'm reading through all of these reviews now, and it's giving me more hope that the GS review might not be how I feel about certain elements.

Does anybody know if streaming would still result in a ban on twitch? I would love to show some gameplay from around the mid-point of the game!

12 hours is fine if there isn't a lot of filler.

Even rpg's I like that sweet 20-30 hour curve for the main story. Nothing turns me off like fetch quests to pad a game's length.

no shit.. like saying a game like dragons age is 100 hours or something , only if you want to "collect 20 pieces of shit" over and over....

no thanks.

OP note: In summary, the batmobile outside of traversal is just as bland as we thought. Sad. As every single review has been PS4 I'd recommend you wait until someone with the XB1 version reports back before you purchase that version.

I guess I just don't understand this complaint. Your not the only one to say this. How could the Batmobile be better? Do you want it to be Kitt?

edit: Also,

Batman: Arkham Knight OT: Knight Rider.

Do any of the reviwes mention the Nightwing / Catwoman / Ribin bits? I dont want to spoil myself, but I do need more info on those parts of the game.

''Polygon 10
After Arkham Knight, Batman has been perfected — and the end result is the best game of this console generation. ''
wtf? this isnt mgs5. calm down polygon

Reviews convinced me to put in a pre-order at GameStop for Tuesday. Might as well get it now with all the bonus DLC stuff, then to get it later at a discount and wind up paying more for bonus character missions & skins.

I'll probably find the Batmobile stuff alright and I've always enjoyed the Arkham style combat, so I'm pretty excited still based on all of the trailers and gameplay they've shown thus far.

People praising a game with only ~12 hours? Is this the new standard?

The video review said the guy was playing for 40 hours didn't it?

12 hours is a long time for just the main story. That's obviously not counting all the side stuff.

And since when did 12 hours become short?

I want it to be compelling. Reviews portray it as a tacked on weak element. Combat with it has looked uninteresting since the first video. I don't know what you don't understand.

Some people, like me are getting burned out on these open world games. I'm glad to hear I can finish this in about 16 hours with some side missions thrown in. With a job and school, I don't have time.

I know this question has been asked a couple of times in the thread, but needs repeating.

Are there combat and predator challenges in the game (the ones where you get medals and have leaderboards)? I am kind of getting a bit worried since no one seems to mention them and there appears to be nothing about them in the trophy list.

Is there a single game which is significantly worse in the XB1 besides lower resolution or slightly worse framerate?

Seems disingenuous.

Look man, I didn't want anyone to read about the good performance in those reviews and automatically assume the XB1 performs just as well without confirmation. Every.single.review. is PS4 code. Just suggesting caution. Think whatever you want.

They exist and they expanded on the leaderboard system.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 was 5-6 hours long first playthrough and that's one of the better resident evil games in years.

Then you have a game like Resident Evil 6, 15+ hours over 5 different characters and that was a hot steaming poo.
