Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

Fucking GameStop cancelled my batmobile preorder. They didn't have enough. Wtf does that even mean. Pissed. Going to have to grumble and get a regular version.
Reviews are solid which is good to see.

They did the same thing to me with the Wii U GameCube controller adapter "don't bother buying somewhere else, just pre-order here". Release date comes and "whoops, we only got two! We're probably not getting anymore!" Assholes screwed me out of being able to shop around. Haven't bought from them since.

Why is it troubling that some puzzles require the Batmobile? There were puzzles in Arkham City that required pretty much every single one of Batman's gadgets and methods of traversal so adding the Batmobile to that list is perfectly natural.

I am dumbfounded that so many people feel that the Batmobile should have been totally and completely optional when the series has never operated that way. The Arkham games have ALWAYS mandated use of Batman's entire arsenal.

Yeah, I see it the same way. I can't imagine any Arkham game "puzzle" to be so demanding or challenging to even bat an eye at regardless of whether the Batmobile is needed.

Jeff from Giant Bomb mentioned he found it tedious to use it remotely to take out some automated turrets at one point when he said it felt like there should've been a way to do it on foot. In the recent game demos, that moment lasts less than 10 seconds. If that's a deal-breaker for someone, then all the past games were full of that stuff, even the relatively simple first game.

If moments like that help justify being able to use the Batmobile at all, then fine by me as it generally looks and sounds fun to use based on other impressions I've heard.

I'm still so on the fence on this. I'm no where close to being done with Witcher so I probably wouldn't be getting to it for some time.

I suppose if I wait there might be a sale or something. Maybe around the holidays.

Gah,not sure.

it seems the batmobile is the weakest link in this game which I was expecting. I hope it's a solid 85/15 split for out of vehicle vs in vehicle combat

hearing from my german connections you cannot share pics via PS4 Share function- disabled until game release proper?-kind of awesome news-as my twitter feed was filled with TW3 screens 4 days before the game released

Speaking of Screenshots - i hope this game has a Photomode or gets one later with a patch.

I don't enjoy the super hero genre at all. I curse good game devs / filmmakers for using their talents to make super hero schlock. I sincerely hope Rocksteady never makes another super hero game.

All that being said, I will buy this game day 1.

But why don't you look past the super hero part for rock solid gameplay, steady framerate, great visuals, voice acting, etc etc? The games are not perfect, but they're some of the best games out there, super hero themed or not.

That gamespot review seems to be more inline with my expectations than the others. I suppose I'll hold off till there are more impressions and reviews before I pay less than $10 for it on steam.

EDIT: tried to do an avatar quote of GAFer Freedom here but failed epically.

People praising a game with only ~12 hours? Is this the new standard?

For me, it's not about how many time I spent on a game, but if I enjoyed it.

PS: I'm not not talking about very little gameplay, which I can also forgive if the other parts of the game are good enough.

I'm about to play these games for the first time after I finish MGS1. I love hearing the impressions they've made on people. :-D

You're in for a treat.

I'll have to replay them again to see I prefer more, but it looks like MGS2 will win it for me.
