The Nostalgia Critic |OT| He Remembers It So You Don't Have To

The Honest Trailer bit reminds me of the TMZ stuff he threw into... I forget which review, to be honest. Point is there's no real reason for it to be there, but at the very least it is funny and makes some valid points.

the rest of the review is alright, worth watching just for Terl at the end

Surprised during his Tim Roth rant he didn't mention that Roth turned down the role of Severus Snape in Harry Potter in favor of this film.

Ouch.
Reminds me when Sean Connery turned down Lord of the Rings for being "too confusing" and eventually did League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

It was the A.I. Artificial Intelligence review. Apparently the reason for the TMZ stuff is that they filed a copyright takedown on his Top 11 South Park Episodes video on YouTube. He could have explained that in the review, something like "This is my punishment for putting them in the South Park video". Probably would have alleviated some of the heat.

Worked out for the best. We got Rickman in the role, who was one apparently one of three actors Rowling requested specifically for a few roles (others being Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, and Maggie Smith as McGonnagal).

what's his opinion on the (really great) new PotA movies?

Also at least he is aware what certain stuff he did is shit lol

I found it weird that you get a strange vitriol when you mention you watch a review of his. I mean, surely it is possible to watch his stuff and not be a fanboy right? Which is hilarious because you'd see that kind of fanboyism on video game-related e-celebrity threads.

For instance I don't agree on some of their stances, like how I feel Chick is very lenient on Disney. And she gets stuff wrong too like say with regards to anime, and how she thinks Minions are a rip-off of the aliens in TS.

I think Doug was too hard on Quest for Camelot

Doug's Top 10 Disney Films (over an hour long)

No NC this week due to being in Finland, so I guess this can "count" as an episode.

Why is he going on Finland?

He gets really pissed over how none of the magic is explained, but when you do something medieval where Merlin is involved and there's an enchanted forest, magic is pretty much assumed.

I think it's more on consistency on magic than just being about magic.

The game show is back, and it underwent a massive retool.

Brad is gone, replaced with the Critic.
Tamara is no longer playing "Mrs. Stockholm" (they probably realized how fucked that was).
Show seems to be faster.
Audio quality is slightly better.
The contestants aren't as awkward.

I just wish they'd cut the "dark humor" aspect. Doug's idea that "all comedy comes from suffering" can be annoying.

It's been announced that Blip is shutting down at the end of August.
I guess that's why Doug has been pushing Screenwave and YouTube.

WTF, Blip is shutting down completely? Well crap, guess I'll have to go to YouTube &/or their website to watch NC reviews.....also Phelous' stuff since he's the other reviewer I went directly to the blip page for.

Edit: August 20 is the exact date.

Yeah, serving video isn't cheap.

I wonder if Drug will rehost his older videos on another website elsewhere.

Auto-correct sure is awesome.

Lately he's been posting his videos to Screenwave. He's also been uploading his old videos to the Channel Awesome YouTube.

I don't care where the videos go as long as the player is HTML5 and not a complete piece of shit. I'd prefer YouTube since it's familiar and works well enough. I'd really rather the videos all go there but I can understand the copyright concerns.

Damn, Blip is gone in late August?

I hate youtube's copyright system.

i dislike doug's idea of what comedyis. i think the sets need to be brighter and more colorful. i mean, if you're going to go with the 'force you to be my friend' thing, then it make sense to go over the top with the color choices instead of having it so drab. also, if they're going to make it like double dare at the start, there needs to be a wide shot of what the contestants are doing.

there's a lot of room for improvement, but this was waaaaaaay better than the previous idea.

Ugh, JW Player never wants to work correctly for me, no matter the browser, or it only wants to load about 20 seconds at a time...or if I try to skip ahead, it might just not want to & starts from the beginning.

NC: Osmosis Jones

I remember seeing this waaaaaaaaay back in 4th grade & renting it from either Family Video or Blockbuster.

Had literally never heard of this film. Just from watching the clips Bill Murray looks so bored, I hope he got well paid.

Surprised Doug didn't point out the animated sections were covered by Tom Sito, an animator who worked on most of Disney's films in the 90s (which possibly explains why the animated sections look gorgeous).

and I get it I'll go see Inside Out, it's not my fault Disney are busy punishing the UK for getting Avengers 2 early...

If Blip is shutting down, then everyone on the site need to back uop their videos.
This is sad, youtube will copyright everything.

Osmosis Jones was a good movie, saw it in high school, good movie to watch on TV. But yeah the Inside out movie looks pretty similar although they are emotions instead of the whole entire system

I'm also really hoping both the TWTG contributers, the Chez Apocalypse crew, and former twtg content providers like Allison/Lupa have managed to save all of their videos and transfer them somewhere else.
I also hope they can find an alternative to youtube becuase...the copyright system is straight bs and I can't see them getting around it.
Best of luck to all of them .

I hate it when awful films have really cool concepts.
This movie really could have done without the dated pop culture references, childish gross out humor, and an apathetic nasty-lookin' Bill Murray.

Also, I was pretty surprised by the violence in this film; I don't even remember the part where the virus brutally burns/boils that minor character alive.

Ugh, I know. One of the biggest things that frustrates me is when a show, movie, game, etc. has a really cool idea/concept, but it goes utterly wasted or poorly executed because you KNOW there's real potential just waiting to be unleashed.

I guess I'll give his real thoughts a view later when I get the chance. I also hope he's a bit quicker to upload his stuff to YouTube. It took only a day after being on his site, but that's still quite some time to wait when you know it's already available, but through a worse video player. Maybe YouTube will be the main source of his videos once blip's closed?

It has really great animated segments though (the only stuff I remember from it) and honestly those segments blow away IO.

For what it's worth, it sounds like Lindsay (Nostalgia Chick) isn't going to backup her videos, so when blip goes down, a lot of her stuff might disappear forever, so backup if you want them.

Hopefully, and I suspect it's probably already happened, a fan will archive them on YouTube anyway.

Still, it's a shame about Blip. But I'm sure the Chick will live on via other peoples throwaway YT accounts.

Also it helps that places like Cartoon Network stopped being a shithole.

I don't remember it being that way. Even just a few years after its inception we had already gotten Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Then we got "What a Cartoon" which was basically the breeding ground for the great shows of the turn of the millenium, which have ultimately given us AT and SU.

They've done good.

Hopefully that is true. It also stinks that she's said she's not going to do any other review videos, and may just do them in writing instead. I always liked her stuff. It was a different perspective.

All of this reminds me that i have the "Brows Held High" review of that one movie Sasha Grey is in. That he pulled since he felt there was too much Slut Shaming in it.

You clearly didn't see them during the late aughts, like the dreaded CN Real phase of things, when Johnny Test ruled the Earth.

Boston bombing damaged CN really hard that they resorted to CN Real.
