What are the rumored specs for the 6s? My 5s battery is so shot it barely lasts a couple of hours of use so I need to upgrade.

same form factor
thicker
2 gb ram
force touch
faster wifi
faster processor
faster gpu
front facing camera on par with iPHone 6 back camera
back camera upgrade

I'm really excited to see the improvements to both cameras first hand - I really hope the upgrades are as substantial as the rumours suggest.

Probably because it's like a version 2.0. "New and Improved!" Same body, better internals. Usually fixes whatever issues were there before. Like the 4S didn't have antenna-gate, 5S didn't have the chopping issues (I do miss slate) and I guess the 6S will have a better grip using rougher aluminum and possibly strengthens the body to prevent bending.

The S cycle is the smart choice. But some people (including me) are more of a fan of the redesign.

I've always thought the same, that's why im still rocking my 4s (and because of no money <3)

It's simple, the new Gen chages form factor and does the outside changes which tend to chage resolution of the iPhone, res will always go up, that means it is more taxing on the GPU and CPU.

With the S version, you get same form factor with an OP processor, which probably will be the processor of the next version, meaning your iOS device will probably last a year longer as it will be outdated by the same time the next version gets old (like the 3Gs had almost the same processor as the 4 but running at half the res, the 4s had the one in the ipad 2, which was modified and used in the iPhone 5, or how the 5S has the same processor as the 6 also running on a lower res).

By that logic, an iPhone 5s will be outdated by the same time the iPhone 6 is outdated.

The 4S and 5 have very different processors, actually. GPUs were based on the same architecture but the 5 CPU was considerably more powerful.

The 4S is more like a dual-core variant of the 4's processor than it is like the 5's.

i got a 5S, 6, and now i want a 6S plus so i guess talk of cycles is wasted on me.

my main wish is that they go all-out now that they've bitten the camera bump bullet. my iphone is my most important camera in a lot of ways.

The 5S having the same processor as the 6? No.

This will be the make or break decision for me to go from 6 to 6s. If the camera upgrade provides a significant boost, I'm in.

That's debatable. If you were to compare the 5 and 5S, then yes it is a smart choice. The 5S to 6, 6 is the better choice. Really just depends what cycle you want to be on. The redesigned product with similar specs to the previous S model, or reused design that has better specs than the redesign.

That's completely expected honestly, I'd be more surprised if they stuck with 1080p as the max record res.

I think the problem with being on the S-cycle is that once a redesigned body is unveiled for the new model, resale value on the old models plummets abysmally. I got a 32GB 5S for like $300 when it was less than 18 months old. The iPhone 6 killed all the interest in aftermarket 5/5S models.

Hell of a jump! Make sure you're comfortable with the screen size, cause that'll be the biggest adjustment.
I've had an experience with a 6 Plus since my father recently upgraded to one. I was honestly astounded by the screen size. It pretty much fits my needs.
But yeah, I've been rolling out with a 4S and now it has taken its toll. The battery drains like mad ever since iOS 8 along with the continuous use of it and one of the volume buttons are actually jammed now. It's served me very well, though.

Well, having all of that done together makes more sense this year, to me. For one, there's an iPad problem. The iPad mini 3 is "behind the times" thanks to its use of the A7, so if Apple continues to have an interest in that segment then it's time to address it more aggressively. There's that persistent Pro rumor.

And it's also no secret that iPad sales are a little disappointing to people who thought it could maintain the trajectory of the iPhone. Part of that is because, well, $500 and $600 devices won't have the same upgrade cycles as phones that are historically subsidized in the U.S. But it's also because the case use of an iPad has to be more compelling than it is now. The use of split screen functions in iOS 9 will address that, but at the moment, only one iPad fully supports it thanks to its processor. Maybe it's just time to take care of all of that in one go, if this September 9 rumor is true.

I dropped my 6 last week and there are scratches on the back, which pisses me off. Now i'm considering buying the 6S or keeping the 6 with a cover and buying the 6S+ for work.

Also, my brother is jumping on this from an iPhone 3GS. He should see some differences :) haha

What you said about the processors is very very wrong.

4s->5 wasn't the same processor but modified, they are completely different. It was actually the first time their acquisition of PA Semi showed something meaningful.
The 5s and 6 too have different processors, the architecture is similar but they are not the same at all.

Noted Mobile Phone Leaker Believes 'iPhone 6c' Could Still Launch Alongside 'iPhone 6s' and '6s Plus'

Blass, who has accurately leaked several images and details about unreleased smartphones on Twitter (@evleaks) in the past, recently tweeted that it "sounds like iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and 6c will all arrive concurrently," suggesting that Apple could release three new smartphones at its annual iPhone event in September.

I disagree. The S versions have always interested me more than the even releases and been a way more enticing upgrade option. While the even releases bring about the form factor changes most of the exciting hardware upgrades and fine tuning comes with the S iterations.

And I still stay up till 3AM to watch their keynotes live.
Exactly why I'm on the S upgrade line.

think we will get a smaller iPhone 6 option? My wife refuses to upgrade her 5 until a smaller option is out as she hates the size of the regular 6.

A9 processor
2GB RAM
Improved 12-megapixel camera
Same design as iPhone 6
Force Touch
Improved Touch ID
Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, and Space Gray colors

16 gigs of flash memory shouldn't even be an option. But I suppose with more people streaming their content it's less an issue. But damn, I'll fill that up so fast with photos, videos and voice memos. Sucks they charge so much more for the bump to 64.

Absolutely. the fact that they don't offer 32gb as a base is scummy as fuck.

that being said, I'll be picking up a 64gb ^_^

That's the point. They want to people to pickup the next model up. The profit margin is probably much greater than on the 16GB.

With a 32GB entry model I bet a significant amount of people would opt for that instead of the 64GB.

I do want a new phone but with nothing good on the Android side in the foreseeable future. I wouldn't mind picking up a 6S Plus and a new Apple TV this September and maybe scoop up a Nexus 5-2 as a backup phone depending on how it is.
