ANIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

EDIT: Holy fuck Quiet is AWESOME. I used not to mind her outfit, but now I wish she was more covered up so more people would also think she's awesome. Jesus... Look at that shit!

I write this again, Huey is the most despicable character in gaming. Still respect to Venom Snake !

Why? I see this everywhere. What exactly does he do to make him so disgusting... aside from trying to drown his step-daughter... Not defending him at all, I just really want a detailed reason why.

More love for Fukushima is a good thing. We'll open a thread about him when the hype is lower. I need your support soldiers because I can already feel the MGS community breathing down my neck.
That said, what's the deal with Blaustein?
Blaustein localized the script and accordin to him was the assistant voice director. He was fired because kojima's translator, Scott Dolphins, did not like his work.
The transactions between Snake and Hal are tight, amazing, and well done in the Tanker mission. MGS3 is campy but it's a lot of fun and the voice acting compliments what they were going for... But MGS had everything, nothing was wasted. Those codec conversations set a high bar.

More proof that Hideo Kojima is a hack... ugh. Anyways, I just try to enjoy it for what it is. Some insane ridiculous - over dramatized anime fans rendition of a war story.

It's like a bad 80's anime/movie from one of those weird directors like the one who made Big Trouble in Little China.

How do I get to Quiet? I was doing a side op and i heard Kaz say forget this mission, and go get Quiet but I restarted and he hasn't brought it back up again :/

Any idea why Fukushima left? I never paid attention to screenwriters in this series until they were mentioned in this thread, but when you think about it, after MGS3 is really when the series went off the deep end...

He was indirectly the cause of XOFs attack on Mother Base, he wanted Hal to be a test subject for the new Metal Gear, he killed his wife, Strangelove, by sealing her inside the Mammal Pod and letting her suffocate to death, he caused a parasite outbreak on Mother Base leading to Venom Snake having to kill his own soldiers and he almost caused his step-daughter to drown. Yeah he's despicable.

So he does that on purpose to Strangelove huh? Can we kill him? That torture scene sounds sweet now...

What does he do to Hal?

He just got a son from Strangelove just to force him to pilot Sahlenthropus and while his mum Strangelove disapproved, he locked her up in a metallic coffin until she suffocated and died. The tapes prove that and her spirit haunted that metallic coffin. And he is always denying that and lie. Everyone in the base wanted him dead, but Venom Snake spared his life.

Oh my god... Like I needed to cry for Hal even more... Now I know why him and David get along so well. At least we know Hal ends up nothing like his scum father and even ends up an awesome dad himself. Why doesn't Venom have him tossed overboard?

After MGS3 is when it went from "A little Anime with your Hollywood" to "A little Hollywood with your anime." MGS4 was the point where you knew whatever force was keeping MGS from being contaminated by the worst parts of Japanese Otaku culture had been crushed under the series' weight.

The fact that the guys at platinum noticed this and made a nod to it with that Solaris Security guard proves to me that the franchise would probably be better off in their hands going forward. For all the shit Platinum gets about Bayonetta's high-fashion dominatrix design, they're probably the least otaku-exploiting developer in Japan right now and they deserve respect for that.

Cus Venom is wise and he said: "He is not one of us, he is our enemy from the start. We can't judge him. The best is to banish him and let him suffer in his own madness alone."

Lol
Edit: fuck this is the spoiler thread! I'm always doing this. I'll be on my way now.
no worries mate, much appreciated

Go to part 3 @ around 2:10 https://m.youtube.com/watch?list=PL2FF748455E930FD8&params=EAEYATgBSAFYA2ILcjFmRllqNEpMZWtoAQ%253D%253D&v=FliJWXYmQWw&mode=NORMAL
So I'm listening to Blaustein's interview while watching the stream... Maybe Fukushima left because of Kojima's ego. Maybe not. But after seeing Kojima rescued once again by snake, for the third time in a video game, I'm beginning to think Kojima's ego is to blame for Fukushima, Hayter, and partially with Konami.

Until this thread, I couldn't understand how the writing on MGS1-3 -> MGS4 could be so vastly different. MGS3 is a such a tight, (fairly) well-plotted and cohesive experience with some really great character moments. Then, there's, well, MGS4. It's the most depressing epiphany ever.

(Also, Quiet with a rocket launcher is my new favourite thing.)

Venom + Snake getting bitten by a cobra: the irony. And Quiet spoke to help him but it seems she is the one who infected him after speaking the language he speaks and thus making him turn into a zombie like in the trailer?!

So now I'm starting to experience some Peace Walker-y annoyances. Episode 8 where I have to blow these 3 tanks up is so annoying. What's my best bet? My rocket launcher doesn't do enough damage, so maybe mine the road with C4?

Man, I dont want to discredit Fukushima but I really dont get this weird narrative thats being painted to heavily imply that he was the gel that held the writing of this series together.

MGS has always been riddled with bad pacing, shoddy writing, and several outright horrible moments. Its part of the charm. Lets not pretend like it started after Fukushima left.

Maaan, Quiet is legit badass. Her storyline seems a bit "whatever", but I guess that comes with being a completely optional character.

No, but it didn't help.

There's just something about V's attempts at being serious that are falling flat in a way that didn't really affect MGS1, 2, or 3 that much. Still looking forward to seeing more.

edit: V's humor game is on point though. When it intentionally goes for cute or funny it succeeds.

Bahahaha
