Just started. I just gave my name, and now it's asking me to create an avatar. I want to play as Snake; not some generic nobody. Is this just for the online?

Why does Kojima use the Midge Ure version of The Man Who Sold the World? According to Wikipedia that was released as a bonus track on a re-release of Ure' The Gift in 1996 and wasn't part of the original 1985 album, whereas the game takes place in the 80s.

Just seems weird since Kojima is really good about details.

I found a 1999 remix of a Billy Idol song

I have been playing the game since Saturday but I don't want to read anything in here as it inevitably leads to spoilers or hints or reveals that I don't want to know.

I just have one question and that is ... Can you DOWNGRADE back to previous grades of items/tools ???

As I see I have the option to upgrade the INT-Scope to grade 2 with an analyser being the upgrade ... If I find this too unrealistic (I see the irony saying that in regard to a MGS game) or overpowered and takes away the randomness of extracting soldiers would I then be able to equip or go back to the INT-Scope grade 1 that has no analyser ???

I have held off on upgrading the INT-scope as I dont want to be forced into using the analyser forever if that is the case. It just makes it a bit more unrealistic and I am enjoying making my play through feel as realistic as is enjoyable so far.

Thanks for your time and if anyone can test this or knows the answer, I would really appreciate a PM letting me know the answer as I don't want to scour this thread for replies and have things revealed or hinted at. Really appreciated thank you.

Hope you are all enjoying the game and I will read this thread one day when I am much further along in the story.

I'm really in awe of the Fox Engine. In the hands of a group like kojipro, it's just incredible what they can do with it. The natural lighting alone makes it my favorite I've ever seen. But I'm guessing not everyone can put this to the use we're seeing here.

Is it really trapped at Konami now? I can't imagine they'll put it to proper use other than their sports games.

Go to where you have to equip it and tap left on the D-pad. It'll give you the version of any item/weapon that has less stars - the old version of it. It'll also cost less to deploy with.

Edit: Hmm, that doesn't work for the iDroid or Int-Scope. Weird. Nevermind.

Is it true there are
66
main story missions?

The second half is full of EXTREME or TOTAL STEALTH modified versions of the same content you played through once before. Only this time they unlock new cutscenes and story progression. It's a bit of a disappointment because a lot of the missions you end up doing have no relation to what's going in the story anymore.

Wasn't there a thread about the Ground Zeroes save unlocks? Did it get merged? I cant find it now.

Anyway, apologies if it's retreading (trying not to read the thread until I get playing), but what exactly does GZ unlock in TPP? Is it just the GZ sneaking suit, or are there more unlocks depending on what you completed?

Is the PS4 version hitching in the beginning for anyone else?

I didn't have any problems myself, but have found this to be a common problem with PS4/Xbox One games if you play them before the disc has fully installed. I tend to just stick the game in and go do something else for half an hour before I start playing anything, the 'install whilst you play' feature always results in hitches for me.

I'm clicking it, and the camera zooms in slightly but I'm getting the classic MGS 'access denied' sound effect.
About to do mission 16 now.
Gotta be tied to a side op then.
Have you done the wandering Mother Base soldier yet?

Should play at least every big boss MGS game to figure out what's going on. Snake Eater, Peacewalker, GZ, and now this.

There are are lot of people I had to look up because I never played peace walker. The GZ event is brought up a lot.

Well... this is my first Metal Gear game so I'd have no idea wtf is happening regardless.

Im sorry for the stupid question, but can anyone tell me how to change the language? I had that option to choose the first time i runned the game but now i cant find nothing, i dont like the way its translated to my language...

Well, to put things in perspective. I unlocked what you unlocked on Friday and I'm still not finished yet with the story. Playing 5 hours a day.

God damn =/

Have you found as you go through the story the need to grind the Side Ops?
I'm finding them a chore already but I'm compulsively doing them
in case they're needed for the true ending, which I have heard no clues as to how to get

Well, the GZ events are brought up more than almost anything else. Like it was a prologue mission so missing it would be all the more confusing.

I actually stopped doing all non-essential side ops on Saturday and it's still taking a long time. I never run and gun missions though so crawling around 80% of the time on each mission probably slows things way down. You also have to replay old mission at higher difficulty settings which takes time to get right.

If the servers are down just to connect, imagine when the whole MP servers are out too... jeez, it'll be Diablo 3 all over again.

Not gonna link to it, but there's a thread on /v/ right now of
a cutscene implying a patch that adds in a new ending?

What's the deal with this? Legit?

I'm having a horrible time right now because I can't install the game on my PS4. I have 100GB left but it says I'm out of space. I dunno what to do.

Yip noticed it is available with weapon versions but doesn't seem to be with equipment :-(

I hope they patch this as it would be cool to use really basic loadouts as well as fully kitted out stuff.

Eh? Well that sounds crap =/

so, golden arm for importing GZ save or no?

dont see it anywhere

I got it for importing mine =/
Maybe it was mission based?

No sound options?

Also, whats up with the brightness setup? It says make make sure both images appear on the right and left, and doesn't actually show you how to adjust. It works with every other game but this one.

Also how do you import your GZ save?
