Also here is a pic for reference.

It was strange why Big Boss would have a room full of manikins. Now we know it was just a stock room of Decoys.

Now we just need to learn the lore behind Running Man, poisonous hamsters, and why an owl hooting somehow made a soldier on guard duty think its nighttime despite it being broad daylight.

You've seen how smart some of the soldiers around Mother Base are.

Still wish there was a running man boss fight or side op in this. Would have been so cool having to catch him. Even if it might be off by the timeline.

Just got rid of Huey, and now Quiet's gone. I read somewhere that doing side op 150 will lead to her leaving, but she's currently unavailable now anyway. Is it impossible to use her again?

Everything I've found so far that's either unfinished, unused or never present in the form we saw it in the trailers/gameplay demos/etc.

- "80's Filter": Removed for being system-intensive.
- Camp Omega Special Mission (E3 2013 Trailer): Unused for unknown reasons.
- P.T Active Decoy ("Lisa") (2014 TGS gameplay presentation): Presumably cut for relationship to the cancelled "Silent Hills" project.
- Missing Delivery Point Invoices (missing locations?): Removed for unknown reasons.
- "Burned/Skull Boss" Model (Kojima 2015 Launch Trailer): Unused for unknown reasons.
- Africa Burning Village Cutscene (E3 2014 trailer): Removed for unknown reasons.
- Africa Child Soldier Training Cutscene: Unused for unknown reasons.
- TGS 2014 Africa Mission (TGS 2014 gameplay presentation)
- Mission 46 Unused Dialogue (found in game files)
- "Mission 51" Unused Mission (found on CE Blu-Ray disc)

For reference, there were some text files in Ground Zeroes that seemed to hint at content in TPP that never showed up either, including several weapons like a Machete, AK102, Mosin Nagant, SCAR and M4. A Machete Key Item can be collected in TPP, but it's a weapon for D-Walker.

I'll update the list with anything else I find in terms of cut/unused content.
did they just run out of a budget, or was it the whole kojima/konami fallout that caused the game to be incomplete?

also could konami have basically just ripped a bunch of content to make it DLC later, like all on disc dlc you gotta pay for later?

The more I think about it, the more this plot twist feels like Kojima just trying to out-meta MGS2
impossible
and completely cocking it up. It's like someone doing a backflip a few times in a row and then going "yeah, well watch this!", trying to do a double backflip
also impossible
and landing flat on his face.

Also, what was the thing he might have to leave the industry because of if he screwed up? Or was he just talking out his ass?

I disagree I totally love the aspect of being part of the Big Boss mythos. The idea that the player is someone who has been with BB and essentially gets tasked with taking over and becoming part of the legend.

I think most of the people who are disappointed are the ones who were dead set on the game being about BB turning into some mustache twirling villain that they could hate. If there's anything MGS has taught it's that very rarely are there people who are truly evil.
I loved the idea of that too. When that's the direction I thought it was going, I was excited and smiling. But it doesn't really feel like that's what happened. It feels like we just got to customize the medic from GZ and there was a good ol' switcheroo. That wasn't us, that was a MSF soldier with our name and a likeness of our choosing.

I'd love to be wrong and have that be what the ending was. It feels like the original intent was for us, the players, to metaphorically be Big Boss (in the "we controlled his actions for all these years" sense). But in practice, it swings too far in the literal direction and ends up being that we weren't really Big Boss or even the player in the role of Big Boss, we were just someone else who was dressed and looked and sounded like him while he was actually off doing other things.

I'm confusing myself with this post actually, and I'm even more confused about what Kojima was trying to say with this twist other than "look what I can do!"

Same, I totally love the story of V. With amazing gameplay, mission 43, 45, and 47 makes this game my GOTY (unless Fallout 4 wow me).

The tapes already mention that Mother Base is just a temporary set up until they get too big for it.

So a basic timeline of events is probably.....

Venom keeps growing Diamond Dogs.

Big Boss is off buying land in Africa and doing his own army building thing.

Eventually both parties team back up and Diamond Dogs merges with whatever Big Boss has going on and the Other Heaven nation is formed.

And at some point Big Boss rejoins the US army and commands foxhound. Maybe as a cover while he is secretly planning shit so he doesn't have assassins after him all the time again.

But that still leaves the question of when does Big Boss takes over Zanzibarland, when Ocelot leaves to do misc stuff until he and Liquid and Mantis rejoin FOXHOUND, plus having to rescue Naomi, Wolf, Fox, among others. And where was Solidus, someone who's also a dead ringer for Big Boss, during this.

A little bit of both I suppose. The cutoff happened at the start of the year, this is probably the part where Konami cut off money to Kojimas team and forced them to polish it up for release, most likely.

Sure we can say that Kojima was incompetent, but his track record is pretty Solid in terms of complete games. Extremely good track record. That and the fact that the Lisa Decoy was cut just screams out executive meddling.

Sure you can say Kojima tried to cram too much game into the game, but the creative types tend to go insane with detail and what not.

Most likely in Liberia, training Jack. Solid Snake is probably in the US, Liquid you saw was in Africa and he'll eventually go on to join the SAS.

Create a nuke to get 50k demon points. 170k gets your horn the largest it can get and you're always covered in blood while it drips down to leave a trail. Even if you shower.

Do nukes have a purpose apart from giving you demon points?

I dont think anything has changed regarding Zanzibarland.

It was Big Boss second go at it after the original Outer Heaven got destroyed with the leftovers of OH. Simple as.

I started creation on mine today. It has a 27 hour dev time. It's been told that you can't be attacked unless you have a nuke. But, if the other player has a nuke, they can nuke you so you lose everything. Or you can nuke someone as well. Their whole base/resources/staff get ruined.

Why does he already have a SAS beret though?

Knowing Liquid, he probably killed some SAS for fun. Or something.

Or he's already working for them.

Where is that in the menus btw?

story has some really bad pacing issues regardless of the twist. And the story that is there is honestly not that interesting, i felt like all the pieces where there to have a great story but it really just falls flat.

I just finished the Truth mission and saw the twist.

I don't know how to feel right now.

And what was the B-side of the cassette in the last scene? Operation Intrude N- then it cut off.

27 hours of doing side ops for an achivement huh
war...has changed

I actually love the idea of the Phantom Snake. I dunno why, it works for me. The shit cut out, that doesn't though.

Big Boss is essentially just a legend, a myth, cobbled together over decades from the actions of different people. People have fought and died over just that... a myth, propagated infinitum.

So am I ever going to be able to change my butterfly emblem? I beat the entire game and side ops 150 and mission 45 never popped up.
If I take it off, will they pop up and Qyiet will leave?

The more I think on this, the more that Kiefer was the right choice to play Venom/Phantom Snake. I dunno, it just really makes sense. I know he's playing Naked Snake as well, but I am liking his burnt out performance in this game.

Pretty sure it's supposed to be Operation Intrude N313, aka the mission where Solid Snake infiltrates Outer Heaven, kills Big Boss (now we know it's really Venom Snake), rescues Grey Fox and destroys Metal Gear.

They should have thrown the long time fans a bone and had Hayter voice BB at the end when he's riding off on his motorcycle.
It wouldn't make sense either, but nothing did.

What I'm most confused about now is which Big Boss sends Solid into Outer Heaven? Is it real Big Boss sending him to kill his phantom or is it Phantom Boss sending Solid in to try and kill Solid because Real Big Boss gave him the orders to eliminate his clone in the tape?

It could just be Big Boss stuck between a rock and a hard place where because of The Patriots, he has to send Solid Snake in to fight Venom... he feeds him wrong info to keep Venom alive as long as possible, but has faith in Solid to survive all the shit he puts him through, cause at the end of the day... both are his "sons"?

I dunno, I'm spit-balling here.

Those last two on the list are absolutely crucial. I'm considering them canon but they should have been in the game.

That would have been cool, actually, but I'm okay with Kiefer.
I've been pro-Kiefer since day 1.
I just think it would have been a nice Easter egg. I think a lot of us were wondering if Hayter and Kojima were secretly putting SS in here and that's why BB wasn't voiced by him. Like they did with BB in MGS4.

I love how I thought I hadn't seen a lot by only watching the E3 2013 and 2014 trailers, but I actually saw something from nearly every scene in chapter 2. This is a prime example of putting way too much in the trailers, even if they were edited to misdirect.

Also, I kind of wasn't paying much attention when the Truth mission started, and I missed the first name that popped up after Starring. It wasn't Venom, because that was later I thought, but I could've sworn I saw Solid Snake out of the corner of my eye. I got really excited until I realized it wasn't going to happen.

So, just to get it right. I either have the butterfly icon on and i never get to do one story mission and one side op and thus no 100% completion, or i remove it, do all missions, but i lose Quiet permanently?

God dammit. I wanna keep playing but i hate the idea of playing as Venom
Why? This game seems like it's got an ultra meta message of anyone (aka the player) becoming Big Boss/Snake. This game is a Big Boss Simulation. Way more so than any other MGS before it. It also makes a statement about how much we are tied to our phones through the iDroid. I realized that after browsing Amazon (Mother Base), then Wikipedia (the encyclopedia), then Uber (helicopter), vaping for a couple of hours (Phantom cigar), then putting on my headphones and taking a guard post to White Horse.

This Snake is a vaping, music stealing, dog loving, iDroid addicted hipster. Player synthesis should be like 100%.
