So, imagine Konami somehow do release a Substance/Subsistance style release for this we're all on the same page that it should be Metal Gear Solid V: Huey is Sub Human Scum, right.

The true face of evil.... Well, other than this wanker of course.

MGSV-TPP-Huey-Injection.jpg
Huey's model looks more realistic than any other character in the game. In terms of facial animation that specific moment puts like every other scene in the game to shame.

I mean story wise it's fine what is happening with her, but they should probably give her back to you for gameplay purposes at some point. For example after you beat her in Extreme. Kinda sucks that they forcefully take a buddy away from you that you have invested time and money in.

Quiet is a gameplay mechanic above all. The story can be whatever it wants, but as the game is structured around replayable missions, they shouldn't take her from the player. With this logic, we shouldn't be able to replay boss missions among many things.
Story is story, but the mechanics, on a game based on replayability, should stay available.

Yeah you are hosed. Wheels are set in motion once you reach main mission 41. Only thing I found on the internet to keep her from leaving is to wear the butterfly emblem prior to mission 41 and you'll never get that cutscene

Haven't tested it yet though, I lost her :(

Game should at least have the courtesy of warning you that 1/4 of the buddy system is about to fuck off if you get past a certain point.

Also, mission 46 being an exact repeat of the intro, just with different opening and ending cutscenes is dumb as fuck. Would've been a lot more interesting to play as Ishamel and see it from his perspective.

Asshole even shit talks you after sparing his life. Fuck him, thank God for Otacon boning his wife and pushing him to drown himself.

He should have stabbed him in the eye right there

So unequip the emblem do mission 150 and put the emblem back on before mission 45?

No, you have to do the mission immediately after doing the side op. There's no way to avoid this, you will lose Quiet by doing side op 150.

They can replace Dwalker or Dhorse then. Easiest two to get rid of.

I think I used D-Walker once, during the mission in which you have to take out some walkers and then rescue a prisoner. I just wanted to do it quickly.

Exactly. Like someone said I am hoping for a patch.

Cheat Engine or something doesn't help me when I am in PS4.

Seriously, and you don't even get anything for it. They should have just played those two cutscenes and no gameplay at all instead. Was pretty pointless.

This thread has been like this for a long time.

I think saying that does the thread a disservice. A lot of people in here have been arguing concisely the faults of MGSV in a well argued and thoughtful manner. Even if there is bashing its because tensions are high over what people believe to be an unfinished/rushed story with a damp squib of a twist.

On the flipside I''m yet to see a single argument from the "It's good" other than "Kerraayzeeee Kojimaaa" like that somehow justifies a tame ending and an unfinished game being released.

Kojima's plan all along was for us to feel the phantom pain of not getting a satisfying conclusion. so meta. It's actually baffling that people think this is a good way for MGS to go out. You'd think fans of Kojima would be more open to thinking critically.

Didn't the last Huey tape pretty much prove that he didn't actually kill her, though? Maybe I remember it wrong since I was dead tired when I listened to the tape, but I recall it making it fairly obvious Strangelove mistakenly got herself locked inside the thingie.

I think Huey wanted to use Otacon to pilot a Metal Gear or something, and then he locked Strangelove inside the pod after she disagreed with him.

Oh man, what if there is story DLC which involves Quiet coming back and then she's back permanently? There would be so much rage from some people, but Konami would bring in the cash regardless.

She did lock herself accidentally but Huey purposely left her in there to suffocate. All because he wanted to be a Gendo and wanted Hal to be his Shinji.

Just like Snake popping in the ACC after each mission is a gameplay feature that facilitates the mission structure despite the fact that Snake could have been pinned down at the end of previous mission and that mission ended with a TBC. If they didn't care about story when it came to gameplay that time then why now?

I would not pay for that.

I would if it was good DLC on top of it, but I wasn't really using Quiet anyway so I wouldn't buy something that just brought her back with little consequence.

I can't remember what mission it was that ended with you crashing the chopper with CodeTalker, but Miller getting on the radio while you're chilling in the ACC like "Boss, are you OK?!" was hilarious.

Yeah, I misread the post and edited it. I agree with you.

Idk, but it's stupid. It's the only thing that has soured me about the game.
For example you can field her in other missions, taking place before you me her, how is that time paradox allowed, but fielding her after she is gone isn't?

Quiet is virtually useless once soldiers start wearing riot gear anyway, which happens all the fucking time at 100+ hours in.

She can take care of everyone except riot suit guys (but Sinful butterfly works against them and even vehicles), helmet and shield guys can be taken care by her with just the silent tranq sniper.

You can do combat deployment to get rid of riot suits although there are faults in the combat deployment system. I've written a long post on why it's kind of broken, will try to find it now.

You can? Damn, I never saw that after like 70 hours of playing

Only if you are going non lethal which is kind of dumb when you think about it
Can hit a jet in a helicopter with a single bullet, but cant aim for the face of a soldier not even a mile away

Guys what is a good way to find S rank soldiers? I want to reach level 50 in my departments, but that seems like the only way right now except if I grind ressources to expand everything to the last level.

I kinda get irrationally irritated just by seeing his face lol. What an annoying piece of shit, shame he had the same VA as Otacon, cause replaying the Solid Snake games is a bit harder after TPP.

He was super annoying and I just felt Randolph was bad at voicing Huey.

These are the same fucks who sold Ground Zeroes separately, I wouldn't be shocked to see some £3.99 "Quiet Returns" dlc.

he left her inside

Oh alright, I figured he didn't notice and/or hear her or something.

So yeah, Huey even bigger piece of shit confirmer

Yeah, but you can do combat deployment missions to stop that happening anyway.
Waiting 30 minutes for a timer to complete so we can go on our mission is not my idea of fun lol. I'd rather just take D Dog and be done with it.
Annoying as that is, she would still serves as an excellent distraction for you to sneak by or cqc them.
Very true!
The last rifle you unlock for her can even take out armored vehicles, so no she is never useless.
Doesn't Sinful Butterfly melt those guys regardless?
Well we can easily tell who the lethal and non lethal players are here... :p
The only time I killed someone in the game is when the game made me do it, like in the Quarantine mission.

I had it spoiled earlier, but I guessed the body double from the very beginning. People here on GAF were calling out the "Medic is actually who you play as" since the trailers were coming out. There are so many obvious hints to it throughout that it wouldn't have been a surprise even if I didn't get it spoiled.

That said, it explains his different personality.

But WHY? Why put a body double in the game? Why play as random guy #54352354? It's such a weird plot twist. I'm not even upset about it, it's just such a bizarre creative choice to make. However, it does kind of ruin any trace of a Big Boss downfall story that this game was supposed to tell.

And the trailers flat out lied. The whole premise of this game was Big Boss' fall from grace, his explicit fall from grace rather than the implied fall we kept getting, and the story never really goes there. The Eli plot thread is left totally unresolved, as well - what is he going to do with Sahelanthropus and the other strain? He just vanishes after that.

check out the unfinished episode 51

Kills made by Quiet don't count as lethal kills unless you point a target and ask her to kill.

I am non lethal. Doesn't mean Quiet has to be. Even with her killing a whole base you can get an S-Rank, that's how OP she is. And in Side-Ops I usually only do not kill the guys I might want to extract.

This. Just say cover me and you are good.

Yes Quiet with sinful butterfly is the quickest way to neutralise base. However, if it's a big base it's an issue because with mortar fire and other enemies it might be too much for Quiet.

In those situations the best way to clean up a base is you and Quiet both using suppressed snipers (lethal or non lethal). There are times when me and Quiet both use suppressed tranq snipers and within 5 minutes the entire screen is full of zzzzz.

DDog is the best buddy if non confrontation is you play style i.e. completing the mission without engaging an enemy even in a non lethal way. But if you want to engage then Quiet is the best as she can do an awful lot on her own.

Missing link syndrome. Kojima never had the balls to actually show Big Boss become the evil warmonger he becomes by the time of MG1. I had hoped that he'd finally do it here, but nope. Just as a lot of people suspected, it's the story of Kaz's revenge, with Snake (or medic) along for the ride.

Which I don't really understand, this is a guy who built a mercenary nation with nukes (Peacewalker, where we did contract stuff for money), a guy who has given in to the stories about his legend and a guy who uses others to protect himself and this legend. He's not a good guy, he's corrupt already, all that needed to be done was actually lay this out proper for all at once. Pulling off this Venom Snake bullshit doesn't changes the fact that the dude became a warlord.

I do wonder how Mantis was attracted to Liquids thirst for revenge when Miller was in the same chopper? At this point he basically was revenge.

He's still presented as more or less a good guy though. That's the issue. The "Nuclear" trailer especially hinted at a descent into madness. But that never really happens. Just "Lol, you're the medic, thanks for taking my place, kthxbai".

Also, isn't Ishmael clean-shaven? How does he suddenly grow back his beard when meeting Ocelot?

Game has some serious issues with vertical terrain. I've noticed soldiers will see me through walls and Sahelanthropus can occasionally send his beam through mountains which is really frustrating. Had a section where he slow motion jumps at me and there was no way for me to see Mantis through the rocks and died. I understand these issues are part of open world games, but it can ruin progress and the checkpoint system isn't great.
