Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Gotta be honest I'm really annoyed right now with the meta. I don't see any difference in shotguns or blink. Thorn is still uber strong Bungie clearly doesn't understand why its so powerful. It's just really saddening frankly.

So my friend has destiny but no expansions, if I buy him the legendary version does he download ttk and HoW and TDB then on the 15th or does he download the patch that came out yesterday with ttk now and did he already have to dl the other expansions? Trying to figure this out.

So my 2.0 download still has 2 GB left after 28 hours

All the content has been released in patches
If the game is updated then all the DLC content is already downloaded

Why do you guys have such high DL times? Don't you keep your PS4 in rest mode so it just downloads all this stuff automatically?

Lots of folks have been having issues with slow download speeds on PSN for awhile. It doesn't seem to affect everyone, but it sounds maddening.

Tried reading for the details on this but there's been so much changed it's hard to follow. Perhaps you guys here can answer some of the questions I'm still trying to get an answer for. Bear in mind I haven't played since the launch content/VoG.

1. New planets for PvP? Maybe another Mercury map at least.
2. New Planet or Maps for Patrol?
3. Story revamped or only re-recorded?
4. Bullet sponges scale to player count or not still?
5. I have the disc and season pass, can I buy TTK alone? It's not on the store and I'd need to repurchase the whole game and dlc again it seems.

The game was quite fun at first when I got it last year. Both the game and DLC launched, and will be launching on my birthday so it would make a nice little treat to cast aside for the end of the day as it did before. Only problem is I hate the raids and I hated the dead end grind I hit early on. Will I have the same issue of being level/equipment capped and have nothing but a few weapons to hope for at end game content or has more been added? For instance ultra rare ships, and more than just a few. Or ultra rare ghosts and speeders? (forgotten the name)

I have the patch on download so will be trying it out hopefully but if someone here could fill in some of those gaps for me would be really appreciated. I don't really want to download all this data if I'm only going to end up disappointed.

Did you back out, test network connection, and start the download up again? Had my 45 hours (that was nearly static for several hours) go down to about 80-some minutes after doing so.

_______________

  • Not a huge fan of Nolanbot. He just doesn't seem to delivering the lines in context to the scene in some moments, and it brings me out of it more than Dinklage's dead-pan delivery. Perhaps hearing him more than on one patrol and the Nightfall will provide better opportunities to appreciate the change.
  • Gjallahorn was still great in the Nightfall I attempted solo, so that's still a week I can appreciate it in its not-as-full glory.
  • Some of the defense values for the class items make little to no sense. How does my Trials of Osiris (I think) warlock bond have a DEF of 3 while some rares that are just handed to me have 30+ times that value? Could be a bug though, so we'll see as things move forward.
  • Love the new map design, aside from not being able to see what the alert point on the hub stands for.
  • Bounties are glorious! So much space and in-menu redeeming. I haven't dipped into the Crucible stuff yet, so hopefully those bounties impress me as much as the PvE stuff.

Edit: I'm not sure why the downloads have been acting the way they have, nor why testing the connection suddenly drops the high download time estimate like a lead ball in a puddle. Had the connection go from 45 to 41 in a manner of 8 hours or so, and then after another 8 hours extend to 43 until I tried the pause and test method. I can't speak for anyone else, but I've never had issues like this before with glacial speed estimates and executions. Not even in the mad rush of Day 1 downloads or E3 demos/betas.

Overcharging on what? TTK is a fantastic value.

Indeed, for the people just coming in, I wholeheartedly agree. Now, I never bought the dlc but preordered taken king and hopped into the new (for me) stuff and while House of Wolves can justify it's $20 tag with the replayable Prison of Elders, The Dark Below content was abysmally lacking. It reminded me of Borderland's Headhunter packs, except those were a reasonable price for the amount of content. So, for my friends who bought vanilla at release and the season pass, the $40 seems like a pretty steep price point. Of course they're still buying it, so the point is a little moot.

The emotes are class-specific? LOL I was probably actually going to buy them, guess fucking not. It's especially dumb they're limiting it on paid ones.

I kinda have no drive to get on and play until TTK releases, what am I actually missing out on by not playing this week if I don't care about Crucible at all, just the Gunsmith missions?

Best (small) parts of 2.0?

1. The change to the radar, if there is more enemies, it shows more red spots.
2. No helmet in the character screen. :D

I like what they did to the old expansion quests. Not yet sure if weapon switching has been changed or not but it feels slower. Probably a lower stats/perks thing. The subclass quests aren't too bad either. Will wait till after the 15th to finish them up just incase they add rewards to them.

apparently if you test your connection while it's downloading or pause and resume it while it's downloading, it'll speed up the connection.

probably just placebos however

Not the connection test but pausing and shutting down the PS4. Mine went from hours to 10 minutes doing it lol

Hi guys, did any one check the coversion rate for Vanguard marks?, i have 200 with all my 3 characters, i hope Bungie decides to keep things fair with the switch to legendary marks...

I don't get whats wrong with this? Guy had a suros and decided to run towards the enemy? Had good range to get the kill and instead went in close and got shotgunned....

I do feel the range still needs a nerf, but on the new maps they look like there is a lot of close quarters situations where a shotgun would be useful even with a reduced range.

I'm pretty sure it's relating to the fucking atrocious spawns.

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. I did my Nightfall/raids for the week, the current Vanguard Strike playlist doesn't offer me anything worth while since it's level 20 and offers no engrams, and I hate Destiny PVP along with PoE. Since the level 28 playlist is gone, am I just stuck waiting until TTK is out?

That was me. I had Suros but that guy was wrecking with NLB and he would have definitely sniped me if I didn't close the distance. But he sniped me anyway.

Yeah, I logged in, did some bounties and boosted my characters to Level 34 and then quickly realized there isn't anything for PvE only players to do until next week. Could have at least dropped a new Strike for us to play with.

Why the hell would they remove the level 28 playlists? That was pretty much all I did all week in Destiny, even after I had capped my marks for the week. :(

Shotguns should not do precision damage.

In what game does a shotgun not kill you at that range? I'm not even sure where the precision damage you're talking about is coming from. All I see her is weapons playing the role they should play. A Fusion Rifle should almost never win at that range between equally skilled players. The better bet would have been to blink to the left and strafe the guy with the Suros ESPECIALLY knowing he was using the NLB.

They don't. They will be converted into commendations.50 marks for 1.

They don't get switched to legendary marks, unfortunately. Your marks will get converted into commendations.

That's cool you can donate unwanted crap like Plasteel Plating to gain faction rep. I finally got to rank 3 with FWC and realized I didn't want to buy any of their weapons anyway. :/

It's more balanced than it was. I was running around with shadow price and not getting rekt today. That right there is better than it was. Bungee would be better served doing small tweaks every other weak then trying to home run balance every 6 months.

i hope they fix TLW soon but I have a feeling we wont see another balance patch until December.

Unless Iron Banner comes around and they don't like what they see.

The 8th step in the Gunslinger's quest is hard. You have to kill three Majors and at least 15 kills with the Golden Gun Super in one Strike. Anybody got any tips on this?
